I just realized Rumia is actually in the Bad Apple silhouette MV, between Remilia and Sakuya. You can see her hair ribbon!

The big blue wave that appears in some of Okuu's spells is the explosion fairies make when you shoot them.
Koishi's survival spell makes that alarm sound.

Have been playing Imperishable Night to stall studying beat Mokou and noticed a couple things. Lunarians seem to typically have really light hair, sometimes with a slight hue of another color. Yet Kaguya has black hair, like an Earthbound human. Meanwhile, Mokou, who is canonically a Japanese human (albeit a really old/immortal one), has her purple tint white hair. They swtiched? I'd think the Hourai Elixir had something to do with it or their extreme ages (and Lunarians might just go the opposite direction in terms of hair color), but there is the white-haired-and-older-than-Kaguya Eirin to consider in opposition to the latter idea.

Sorry if this is too obvious, but this one made me totally have a spazz attack. If Kaguya and Mokou had no reason for their feud (meaning Kaguya didn't reject Mokou's father), then Kaguya would have been Mokou's step-mother instead...  :V

I always kinda thought it odd... that Mokou's father was going after the exceedingly young-looking Kaguya.

Cirno is known as 9. Okuu is sometimes 6. As the infamous Marisa glitch works in the intervals of the power level, 3, she should be known as 3. So thus far, we have a 3, a 6 and a 9.

Maybe it's not new, but looking on TD high score runs i've noticed that if you kill Yoshika at Seiga's nonspells then she wont respawn till next spell.

Also is it only for me or like every replay of TD stage 4 practice causes game to crash after it ends?

I just noticed it today while playing through TD spell practice, and I can't believe it took me this long to notice, but for Futo's first spell card in spell practice, when you defeat her, the boat is destroyed a bit before Futo is.  I noticed this because I finished Futo off while she was in the middle of surfing across the screen, and the result was Futo flying across the screen without her boat.  I lol'd. :V

And then she slides like, on her face over the ground, her legs flip out in front of her, she flips back off the ground and goes into a roll before one final bout of aerial state and finally stopping face first into the ground where her legs get skewed upward before falling back down behind her.

I think I put way more effort into that than I should have.

Could be either:
  • Mokou being outside every day for centuries bleached her hair, while Kaguya staying inside preserved it, or
  • Being immortal, their bodies stop producing melanin since ultraviolet rays can't hurt them anyway, thus whitening their hair. Kaguya considers this unseemly, so dyes it, whilst Mokou and Eirin don't care

Well, if Eirin's touchy about her age, maybe she permanently bleached her hair to make sure it looked white forever?

==========

I've kinda noticed that in general, Touhou's a setting full of cosmic horrors:
- Reimu: A priestess who can quite literally obliterate anyone she wants and can be affected by the world as much as she wishes.
- Yukari: She controls Boundaries...all Boundaries. Between Life and Death, Existence and Non-Existence, Here and There, Male and Female, Dreams and Reality...choose your pick.
- Yuugi: A Deva that control supernatural phenomena...in others, pretty much all of Gensokyo.
- Suika: Controls density...what's stopping her from growing into the size of Earth? Creating a blackhole? Creating her own star?
- Letty: She controls cold, in other words, she takes away heat...a molecule's vibrations...she controls Entropy. And she's a mother figure to Cirno!

...I think you have an idea of just how horrific Touhou can really be. I guess that really does make Marisa quite the badass, or rather, is she a frightened little girl?

She could be one of those "frightened girl with a tough exterior" types, which would explain why she talks like a truck driver.

Suika shattered the moon.  considering the princesses of the moon can curbstomp Yukari and Reimu in a fight...  Suika is technically one of the most dangerous beings in Gensoyoko.

Yuugi's control over the supernatural could imply that she can control the youkai and ghosts of Gensoyoko.

Aya is the fastest living thing in Gensoyoko.
Youmu is the fastest thing in Gensoyoko.

I don't think I could buy that; Marisa is pretty nonchalantly hardcore that I don't think you could possibly "fake" it.

- Reimu: A priestess who can quite literally obliterate anyone she wants and can be affected by the world as much as she wishes.
Well, not that she would, but the rules of battle pretty much prevents needless bloodshed. She could certainly do other things, but actually killing a youkai (along with killing a human) is forbidden. Yukari however, likely holds that authority (among youkai sages) but Gensokyo is a place where you don't need to use that authority. It's making me wonder how 'common' human-human murders work, though.
- Yukari: She controls Boundaries...all Boundaries. Between Life and Death, Existence and Non-Existence, Here and There, Male and Female, Dreams and Reality...choose your pick.
While that is the case, it's been shown that Yukari doesn't really actively use strong boundary manipulation. She passively uses it in maintaining established boundaries and commonly does (small) spatial boundary creation, but those even sound easy to pull off. In addition, she gets tired using boundaries in excess, what with actually needing to hibernate, what with her body needing to regenerate, what with her just plain not abusing boundaries all the time. I'm fairly certain that each boundary is variably difficult to manipulate in contrast to another boundary. It isn't just like "oh i'll just make gravity reverse just for the fun of it"; while it sounds fun to imagine I'm sure that doing something like that would be extremely difficult, if not impossible. If one boundary is altered, it can trigger another that needs to be changed, and others, and so on. Something like spatial boundaries have two pretty well-defined sides that are easy to access, so it probably doesn't take much effort. Wiping someone out of existence or turning dreams into reality, should be leagues more difficult. While there are two sides to a boundary, it's definitely not just the flip of a switch.
- Yuugi: A Deva that control supernatural phenomena...in others, pretty much all of Gensokyo.
Yuugi's control over the supernatural could imply that she can control the youkai and ghosts of Gensoyoko.
Ehhh Yuugi's powers are better left to speculation and be forgotten. She's never used her powers for anything, and she doesn't need to. She's an oni. It's like Yuuka not really needing to use her powers in battle because her own inherent strength trumps her ability.
- Suika: Controls density...what's stopping her from growing into the size of Earth? Creating a blackhole? Creating her own star?
considering her utter disregard for the laws of physics describing density, probably nothing, i mean she did blow up the moon (see later point)
- Letty: She controls cold, in other words, she takes away heat...a molecule's vibrations...she controls Entropy. And she's a mother figure to Cirno!
Nnnnope, on both statements. The extent to which she controls the cold isn't described, but please don't make outrageous speculation like "she controls x so she ALSO controls everything related to x to the utmost extent!". Cold doesn't even have anything to do with entropy. PMiSS shows that she doesn't really show Cirno in high regard, either. Makes her look bad when people equate their powers.
Suika shattered the moon.  considering the princesses of the moon can curbstomp Yukari and Reimu in a fight...  Suika is technically one of the most dangerous beings in Gensoyoko.
To be more precise, she blew up the reflection of the moon. In Gensokyo, you cannot see the real moon; the sky only reflects the real moon and that is what you see. To an incomprehensible extent, Suika ripped open the sky and this shattered the visible moon.

I have no idea what Yuugi's ability is, it probably does nothing.

I believe Aya is faster than Youmu.

Yeah... Suika takes manipulation of density to an extreme. Most other characters don't take their abilities to that kind of extreme.

I don't think she's faking it per se. I have every reason to believe that she's quite comfortable in Gensokyo. But people growing up in frightening and dangerous environments (ask anyone from the inner city) will tell you that you learn to mask your fear with a very convincing tough front. This front becomes so convincing that you even start to believe it yourself. Ms. Kirisame doesn't have to deal with gunplay; she has to deal with a whole lot worse, with no police or other oversight apparatus to turn to. The idea that her tough-talkin' attitude is a front to mask real terror isn't that implausible.

I believe Aya is faster than Youmu.

Youmu can move a third of the speed of light with one of her spellcards.
200 Yojana in 1 Slash -  1 yojana = 13km
she does this in 1/30th of a second.
that totals to 78.000 km/s.  26% of the speed of light.

Hey, if speed (velocity really but technicalities aside) is measured by distance over time, then technically Sakuya is the fastest because she can move any distance in exactly 0 seconds. With infinite decimal points. She even beats gapping because using portals also takes up time, even though it could be only a small bit.

But I'm not going to continue this any further. Mostly because the argument itself is based on interpretations.

A fight that Reimu was reluctant to have, since they were the invaders, and Yukari wasn't even participating in. Also, shattering the moon apparently had zero affect on the Lunarians, since they didn't mention squat or do anything about it.

As for things some haven't noticed until now: powers are not absolute, nor can they always be fully controlled.
Canonically: Rumia has power incontinence, Cirno can't put out fires or lazers (at least, not as easily as normal Danmaku), Yuyuko can't kill people who wouldn't die from normal means, splashing Chen with water dispells her Shikigami power boost, Yukari can't gap to the moon whenever she wants, Keine can't hide history from Yukarivision, and so on.
Inferred or implied by canon: Youmu's concentration only applies to fighting, Komachi's distance compression is fairly limited (inferred from her SWR dialogue), Remilia's fate changing appears to require her to rename the recipient, Reisen can't invoke Lunacy as well as looking at the moon, and so forth.

Another one: many powers are too generic or vague to be discussed effectively.
Powers that are listed, but aren't used in any actual games or artbooks or the like (having not read all the books, I may be mistaken with some of these): Tewi's luck manipulation, Keine's full-moon history changing, Eirin's intelligence (I kid), Remilia's fate manipulation (mentioned to be rumoured to have been used in one article, suggesting it is tied to name fortunes), Ran's and Chen's black magic, etc.
Powers that are used, but little meaningful information about them is available: what kind of magic magicians can use (can Marisa only use lasers and stars and such, or can she do all kinds of wizardy things such as conjuration or alchemy?), Flandre's destruction (she can destroy a meteor, but what would happen if she tried on Mokou or Kaguya? Can she destroy Suika while she is dispersed, or a ghost?), Koishi's subconcious manipulation et al.

@Irate Researchers:
Why the assumption that the slash takes 1/30 of a second? What Youmu's speed or max possible speed is not too important.

Since Aya says and is confirmed by other characters to be the fastest, Reimu uses Aya as an example of a fast character in SSiB, also
Aya's profile talks about her speed. So, if Youmu can move 26% of the speed of light, it just means Aya can move faster.
Aya also boasted that she is the fastest in Gensokyo in Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red and no one seems to challenge that boast.

I am always under the impression that Aya is the fastest, Remilia is second, and Youmu is third. Remilia is second, because Youmu's dialogue
against Remilia seems to imply that Remilia is faster than Youmu.
Youmu's victory vs dialogue against Remilia:
Quote
Against agile movers you should shut your eyes, Lady Yuyuko said.
Is it because you can't see afterimages when your eyes are shut?

@[insert]-tirade:
Sakuya's time stop has a limit, she doesn't seem to be able to use it forever. Kaguya seems to be better at time manipulation.

@haoreos2:
Isn't Youmu's ability swordsmanship?
