I only just recently found out where that one rail system is that leads to that one village with all the sprite art and the Hakurei tower. ;-;
Likewise, I've only just a while ago found out where that single subway line is that leads to that wasteland that looks like it was griefed in the past... You know, for newbies to the server, like me and... uh... I don't know, HakureiSM feels pretty clueless about that area as well, guess that counts. For newbies like me this feels like no man's land. People populate and develop the village which is a fair distance away from the ruins. It did not help that EP took me on a superfast sightseeing tour during which I'd lose my bearings after each teleport.
And they look phenomenal. I think only 4 people live there (which is still more than the population of the village, mind you). But what I saw took my breath away. Some ruined courtyards, among them a house of netherrack which looks like a spaceship moored in a rectangular dock below, the Void Hole, the Huge Crater left after a massive TNT explosion (the best part is, trees grow way down there; it looks amazing.), the ruined Kiershar-style mob grinder in the sky over the Netherland... And it felt even more eerie at night because for some reason, there was no hostile mobs on the surface as I walked through the frozen wastes. So many abandoned houses. Unprotected chests filled with rubbish and some forsaken personal belongings. I did not dare venture further, deeper down to the catacombs under each and every single one of the houses, although there's where the real treasure was hidden no doubt. It is just me who is keeping the most valuable redstone machines outside for everyone to use and advertises them just so that people would come and pay a visit more often. From what I heard, PX is having the same, only bigger, faster, stronger, better, and many more that I don't have. Plus traps. Oh, so many traps, no doubt.
There is something mighty exciting about that kind of exploration, you know? Underground exploration got boring, but this is really neat. These ruins actually have some back story to them. What story, well, that is yet to be found by me. No wonder Notch wants to implement ruins and settlements in 1.8 now.
Sometimes I wonder, why don't we live there anymore? It feels like everyone is so far away from other people. And as far as I can comprehend, the village is actually the least populated place on the server. The loneliness is getting to me at times.
