haha picked up on a question while I was at Ohayocon. The panelists at Ohayocon suggested that I ask:

Which of the stage backgrounds do you find the most distracting?

A variant of something I asked earlier but this time it's not which background do you find the most beautiful but distracting - you can probably tell by counting the number of deaths caused by backgrounds lol :V for now I'll go with IN 5th stage. REISEN'S EYES!!

Hmmm EoSD stage 6 because sometimes I get myself wondering "Where I am", I can't understand what is that background, it looks like a cave place and then... blow, a wild Moon appears, so confusing.

Special mentions to the end of stages 6 of MoF and SA at the moment when the light pink bullets are ending to fall and the background makes a white fade-in  >:(

I don't play MB often, but its stage 5 background is probably the most screwy one I've seen, especially during Megumi's nonspells.

From the games I actually play, LLS stage 4 irritates me at the start when the bg randomly chamges while two fairy statues are firing bullets at me (bad design desicion IMO).  The end of SA stage 6, as Kaze said, is probably the most solid contender for Windows. IN stage 5 around Tewi also used to distract me, but now it's not really a problem anymore.

I suppose MS stage 4 blue-on-blue could be a bit distracting as well, but I actually hardly mind it at all. :V

There's also stage 3 iirc. Obv Kanpukugu doesn't count as there it's intended. :V

Anyway, I'd say IN Stage 4 post midboss. Because it's too fast and I kinda lose focus on the bullets. :V

MS stage 4, definitely. 9 times out of 10 I'll die to that stage and have absolutely no idea what hit me.

Stage 5 after the midboss somewhat too, the fairies that fire the three aimed blue streams are fine when it's just them, but when I'm dodging everything else on top of them, bad things happen.

Pretty much anything in the PC-98 games. On the other hand, the Windows backgrounds almost never get in my way... to be honest, with the exception of Imperishable Night, I barely even notice them. If there's anything I find a bit distracting, it's probably something shiny in PCB.

MS stage 4. It's especially good at concealing those small white aimed bullets that most enemies occasionally fire at you on Lunatic.

Nothing else comes close, unless you count bullets not contrasting enough with other bullets they're overlapping.

I can only think of MS-4. Fucking white bullets on top of white bullets on top of looking hideous and invisible hitbox is a clusterfuck sandwich that causes me to die. A lot.

Every time I play MS, I always expect Stage 4 to cause blindness and headaches. It's so distracting and annoying, especially with the white bullets :V

UFO Stage 5.

SadisticPenguinOfAND put it best: "red on red in a sea of red". This even applies to the UFO tokens of all things - I've had a few attempts at perfect runs ruined because the red tokens veered into me undetected and activated a large UFO.

Despite Marisa having almost as many shot types throughout the series as Reimu does, it seems hers are rarely popular. So among all the Marisa shot types that exist, which one(s) do you prefer?

MoF's Marisa-B, because she's way too op and can make me "skip" through a stage when I want to challenge an specific spellcard (especially VoWG). Otherwise, SA's Marisa-B for obvious reasons.

PoFV Marisa. Her movement speeds are very well suited to the game, being fast enough to macro dodge while still being able to slow down for micro stuff, and her charge attack is beautiful. I also like how her scope only hits in front of her. You end up having to worry a bit more about getting under the spirits. Makes playing as her a bit different from anyone else. (Lyrica does that too but... blech). She has the slight problem of making things spell spammy but she's awesome for challenge runs and stuff.

MoF's Unfocused Marisa-B with power between 3 and 3.95
PCB's Marisa shot type with Xmas trees :V

Man I tried EoSD extra with ReimuB for so long, then I switched over to MarisaA and it was so much easier!  I've got to go with EoSD MarisaA.

PCB MarisaA. It's basically the only time she doesn't have any of the flaws that plague her other shot types in other games (and no, the lack of a spread shot doesn't actually matter in the main series).

Illusion laser is best shot type 4ever. Especially in PCB where you've got a sweet Non-Directional Laser bomb to cheese bosses with.
