Previous thread. (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,12646.0.html)
Current question:
Which spell card do you consider to be your personal nemesis in Touhou?
For me it's Scarlet Meister because I haven't captured it yet on lunatic.
-
"Impossible Request: Ceiling of Kinkaku-Ji"
5400 shots. Still not cleared, but I've been in the last phase so many times.
-
I answered Karakasa Surprise Flash in the previous thread, but - surprise! - just after I posted it, I devised a strategy to keep it somewhat sane and manageable with 3 captures and counting.
I suppose Lighty Falling Large Raindrops would be my replacement pick because it and its stupid hitboxes are not fun whatsoever.
Maze of Love is another one I'd like to add, but it's not so much a stupid spellcard as it is a I-suck-at-this-sort-of-movement. I feel this one is not going to last long, though.
I also skipped over the "most changed game" question because I didn't think much about it at the time, but IN and EoSD have certainly risen in my eyes. IN wasn't as good as PCB to me and had a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, and no visible hitbox turned me off for EoSD.
Contrary to that, PCB and especially MoF have fallen the most. The former has lost its magic as my first Touhou game, although borders and stuff are still pretty neat. MoF is still a good game, but it isn't very exciting and pretty much a worse SA with prettier backgrounds. I admittedly haven't played it seriously in quite a long while, though. Once again, however, they are all good games in their own right!
PCB is still better than IN. :V
-
Hourai Jewel - I can't learn it. I'm stupid
Source of Rains - I can capture it pretty consistently now but I used to clip it all the time
Can't say much about the newer games since I haven't played them enough.
-
1. Total Purification. Since the way the bullets open is pretty damn fun, I would normally enjoy this card, but it lasts way too long, resulting in me screaming expletives in increasing volume until I inevitably fail to get out of the blast's way in time or have my brain fail me because I did not adapt to the particular part of the pattern in time, usually resulting in me punching the screen / keyboard. Okay, 500th try, let's fucking do this...
2. The unholy combo of Release of Id and Super-ego. Shit's supposed to be simple. After numerous tries I got the rhytm down and do it every time. Every time that the hearts do not decide to cross the exact time I make a dodge and crush me, that is. Which is almost never, especially in Super-ego. Consistency? What the fuck is that?
3. Mamizou's survival. I can't even be bothered to check the name, but after 300~ tries of Wild Deserted Island and still being screwed over by the Mamizou's goddamn animal hitboxes and movement, you can easily imagine how eager I am to practice this crap, especially since I cannot get the rhytm down after a few tries. Bombspam / get lucky / die and bb clear... If only the stage had more extends and I wasn't bleeding to death by the point I start the final card...
-
I answered Karakasa Surprise Flash in the previous thread, but - surprise! - just after I posted it, I devised a strategy to keep it somewhat sane and manageable with 3 captures and counting
How?
-
Malicious Spirit "Spleen Eater": God, does this card hate me. I've gotten into so many un-dodgeable situations with this card. Took me sooooo long to capture it on normal.
Suppression "Super-ego": Backwards moving flower petals noooooooooo. I have a hard enough time dodging bullets that come from the front, let alone the back.
Monster Sign "A Forgotten Umbrella's Night Train": I want to murder this card with a hammer. 'Nuff said.
-
How?
move with the lasers (when they're not unreadable fast), stop inbetween them. that way, you won't have to dodge instantly :V that's how I do it. and I used to have so many problems with it, too. it was an auto bomb before I learned that. I haven't failed it ever since then, either (with like 1 or 2 failures because I am stupid).
http://youtu.be/47M1TUzz8kw?t=2m2s watch for demonstration.
-
To add to Sakurei's advice, look a fair bit to the left or right (depending on where they're coming from, look about 45? from your position I'd say) and pick a gap that you want to land in (or a laser you want to stay ahead of) and then aim for it. You might have to adjust yourself a few times (i.e. skip to another gap) and you'll surely not land under Kogasa every time, but this turns the card from a bullshit luckfest into something manageable. Basically, read lasers from afar, not just around your position, and as always, practice makes perfect.
Still not the best of ex-midboss cards, but you'll have that (and as I said, better than lightly falling way too large clipdrops for sure, but even that one's not as horrible as I make it out to be).
EDIT: I have half a mind to ask for the best/worst ex-midboss card, or even ex card overall. :V
-
Time to ask a question!
What is the hardest windows stage 6 attack in the series?
I'm going with Scarlet Meister because like I said I haven't captured it yet. :V
-
Scarlet Meister is up there, though I'm also partial to Uncontainable Nuclear Reaction (or Nuclear Fusion, as I usually see it as) and Source of Rains (I can never stream it right because of the stupid arrowheads...). Hourai Elixir too, but that's a Last Spell, so...
-
Any variation of Mind of God "Omoikane's Brain". I just don't get how the thing works.
Also, Life Spring Infinity, Half Past Two, Scarlet Meister, Eternal Meek (H/L). If PoFV Stage 9 counts, the Yama herself.
-
Divine Virtue of Wind God. I should not need to explain why.
-
Nirvana's Cloudy Way in Purple demands movements far beyond what my tiny brain is capable of.
-
Scarlet Meister, I think. It's been so long since I played any of them that I've kind of forgotten how they compare with each other, but that would've been my answer a few months ago so I guess it's still my answer now.
-
LFS, but with facing some of the dense red waves.
Life Spring Infinity is some serious bullshit but I don't know if it's the hardest one. (it can't be hard if it's not doable)
-
Guze flash or hourai jewel ;~;
-
Oh my, I don't know whether Guze Flash or Scarlet Meister is more difficult for me.... I haven't played many of the final bosses on Lunatic so I'm quite limited.
-
4th last spell.
-
scarlet meister or life spring infinity, definitely. both are bullshit to me, both have never been captured (in a run. hush, spell practice is awesome) and I will never perfect any of their stages because these spells exist.
-
PCB Stage 6 spam Scarlet Meister. Part of this is since I don't play EoSD anymore, I haven't exactly practiced it a whole lot, though I have captured it before.
I'm a bit surprised to see Guze Flash pop up as an answer when it's not even Miko's hardest attack, let alone among other Stage 6 attacks.
-
Stupid Apollo 13. I usually die on the very first wave. Other spell cards usually let me survive for a while.
-
Scarlet Meister, I can't do it at all.
Brilliant Dragon Bullet is also up there, it's basically the only thing preventing me from perfecting lunatic Kaguya. (Besides general RNG bullshittery)
Though if fangames count then my choice is Mikoto's first nonspell, I literally have no idea how to do it. And even if I do get a strategy the bullets are too fast and dense for me to dodge them.
-
Maybe Scarlet Meister. But for timeout I'd say Kanako's opener or VoWG. Seriously, the opener messes with my eyes after about 40 seconds or so.
-
Curse of the heavens: Apollo 13 :V
Stupid Apollo 13. I usually die on the very first wave. Other spell cards usually let me survive for a while.
I am not alone :)
-
Nominees:
Good Omen: Bad RNG can really make more some unfavorable situations here
Devil's Recitation: Because I'm retarded.
Scarlet Meister: Because I'm retarded. And because I think your chances at capturing it depends on Remilia not moving to the left. Can't say for certain.
Scarlet Gensokyo: Everytime she fires the dense wave of bubbles I'm left at the mercy of luck.
Hourai Jewel: Because of having to memorize it to even stand a chance. I think I've learned a path for this spell like two times in my time as a Touhou player but due to IN not being very regularly played by me I forget it and have to go learn it from scratch. It's probably the only piece of memo i've done in Touhou that just refuse to stick.
And the winner is...
Good Omen for causing the most grief. You have screwed me up many times and I know I haven't seen the worst from you yet!
-
I'm a bit surprised to see Guze Flash pop up as an answer when it's not even Miko's hardest attack, let alone among other Stage 6 attacks.
You probably don't have light-sensitive eyes. I am physically incapable of doing Guze Flash barring dumb luck, and if I try, I wind up much less able to do any other attack for a while afterward, and having the hardest attack in the battle right after it does NOT help. I could actually nominate Miko's second card for much the same reason.
But for my answer based in actual difficulty, I echo PMW above, Mikoto's opener is stupidly hard. Even misdirecting it doesn't really help, since it makes it take forever and only makes it slightly easier.
-
Kanako's opener. I just can't fucking read that.
-
Kanako's opener. I just can't fucking read that.
?
-
I was going to do some huge in-depth analysis, but then I played Hourai Elixir.
...yeah. That has to win for me, it's the epitome of a card I should be able to capture reasonably consistently but can't, and it's not due to bad RNG with movement (Meister), bad RNG with bullets (Gensoyko) or due to my eyes losing focus (Kanako's opener), or due to ADD blend, which doesn't affect me as much but it does still (Utsuho, Good Omen, Superhuman), or due to unpredictable bullet patterns (LFS).
-
Oh and there's also Kaguya's bullshits. Especially Hourai Jewel and the card before that one which I forgot the name. And her second and third last spells. I suck at IN, tbh. :V
-
Kanako's opener. I just can't fucking read that.
?
-
Miko's: Discernment "Laser of Seventeen Articles"
This card, man...I don't know if it just hates me or what, but the RNG Goddess is not kind during this card.
-
haha picked up on a question while I was at Ohayocon. The panelists at Ohayocon suggested that I ask:
Which of the stage backgrounds do you find the most distracting?
A variant of something I asked earlier but this time it's not which background do you find the most beautiful but distracting - you can probably tell by counting the number of deaths caused by backgrounds lol :V for now I'll go with IN 5th stage. REISEN'S EYES!!
-
(http://i.imgur.com/OWnjCGw.jpg)
50 points to whoever spots the bullet that killed me a second later.
-
UFO Stage 5.
Because red.
-
Hmmm EoSD stage 6 because sometimes I get myself wondering "Where I am", I can't understand what is that background, it looks like a cave place and then... blow, a wild Moon appears, so confusing.
Special mentions to the end of stages 6 of MoF and SA at the moment when the light pink bullets are ending to fall and the background makes a white fade-in >:(
-
I don't play MB often, but its stage 5 background is probably the most screwy one I've seen, especially during Megumi's nonspells.
From the games I actually play, LLS stage 4 irritates me at the start when the bg randomly chamges while two fairy statues are firing bullets at me (bad design desicion IMO). The end of SA stage 6, as Kaze said, is probably the most solid contender for Windows. IN stage 5 around Tewi also used to distract me, but now it's not really a problem anymore.
I suppose MS stage 4 blue-on-blue could be a bit distracting as well, but I actually hardly mind it at all. :V
-
I don't play MB often, but its stage 5 background is probably the most screwy one I've seen, especially during Megumi's nonspells.
There's also stage 3 iirc. Obv Kanpukugu doesn't count as there it's intended. :V
Anyway, I'd say IN Stage 4 post midboss. Because it's too fast and I kinda lose focus on the bullets. :V
-
MS stage 4, definitely. 9 times out of 10 I'll die to that stage and have absolutely no idea what hit me.
Stage 5 after the midboss somewhat too, the fairies that fire the three aimed blue streams are fine when it's just them, but when I'm dodging everything else on top of them, bad things happen.
-
Pretty much anything in the PC-98 games. On the other hand, the Windows backgrounds almost never get in my way... to be honest, with the exception of Imperishable Night, I barely even notice them. If there's anything I find a bit distracting, it's probably something shiny in PCB.
-
MS stage 4. It's especially good at concealing those small white aimed bullets that most enemies occasionally fire at you on Lunatic.
Nothing else comes close, unless you count bullets not contrasting enough with other bullets they're overlapping.
-
EoSD stage 2, the green kunai and blue snowballs are pretty hard to see against the animated background.
-
I can only think of MS-4. Fucking white bullets on top of white bullets on top of looking hideous and invisible hitbox is a clusterfuck sandwich that causes me to die. A lot.
-
Every time I play MS, I always expect Stage 4 to cause blindness and headaches. It's so distracting and annoying, especially with the white bullets :V
-
After playing MS, I can say that the entire game is a trap.
After playing the other PC-98 games, I can say that they're all traps.
Fuck.
-
UFO Stage 5.
SadisticPenguinOfAND put it best: "red on red in a sea of red". This even applies to the UFO tokens of all things - I've had a few attempts at perfect runs ruined because the red tokens veered into me undetected and activated a large UFO.

What is the best Marisa shot type?
Despite Marisa having almost as many shot types throughout the series as Reimu does, it seems hers are rarely popular. So among all the Marisa shot types that exist, which one(s) do you prefer?
-
MoF's Marisa-B, because she's way too op and can make me "skip" through a stage when I want to challenge an specific spellcard (especially VoWG). Otherwise, SA's Marisa-B for obvious reasons.
-
PoFV Marisa. Her movement speeds are very well suited to the game, being fast enough to macro dodge while still being able to slow down for micro stuff, and her charge attack is beautiful. I also like how her scope only hits in front of her. You end up having to worry a bit more about getting under the spirits. Makes playing as her a bit different from anyone else. (Lyrica does that too but... blech). She has the slight problem of making things spell spammy but she's awesome for challenge runs and stuff.
-
EoSD MarisaA. She handles the extra stage pretty well and anything that can kill things quickly in EoSD's Lunatic mode is a godsend.
-

MoF's Unfocused Marisa-B with power between 3 and 3.95
PCB's Marisa shot type with Xmas trees :V
-
EoSD MarisaA. She handles the extra stage pretty well and anything that can kill things quickly in EoSD's Lunatic mode is a godsend.
Man I tried EoSD extra with ReimuB for so long, then I switched over to MarisaA and it was so much easier! I've got to go with EoSD MarisaA.
-
PCB MarisaA. It's basically the only time she doesn't have any of the flaws that plague her other shot types in other games (and no, the lack of a spread shot doesn't actually matter in the main series).
-
Ditto PCB MarisaA, but for another reason. It just looks so impressive at full power, like a non-stop stream of destruction.
-
IN Malice!! XD
-
EoSD Marisa-A
I probably couldn't have beaten Flandre without it.
-
Marisa A from UFO. I love the Pierce.
-
Illusion laser is best shot type 4ever. Especially in PCB where you've got a sweet Non-Directional Laser bomb to cheese bosses with.
-
EOSD Marisa A.
-
Any shottype with Master Spark ever !
MarisaA in EoSD or PCB.
Both for the reasons the others mentioned.
-
top tier IaMP Marisa (http://wiki.mizuumi.net/w/Immaterial_and_Missing_Power/FAQ#Gameplay)
SA MarisaB is the coolest/has the best design
PoFV Marisa is the best shot-type (she and Reimu dominate Japanese PoFV tournaments)
EoSD MarisaA is the best shot-type for "standard" Touhou games (6 stages blahblahblah)
-
I have to go with PoFV marisa, too. for reasons Zil already mentioned.
every other Marisa shottype is shit. I've been playing them on normal to, you know, unlock the extra stages for them and fuck, they're bad. :V she's terrible forever. just saying.
but I have to agree: EoSD MarisaA is pretty neat for a marisa shottype. but, really, the extra stage is easier with her than it is with ReimuB? that's...wat?
-
PCB MarisaA, for the same reason as previous people.
-
EoSD MarisaA or PCB MarisaA
Because power. Well ZUN did balance them with either a horrid Patchy fight or one less starting bomb.
-
Mitori.

What's your favorite attack to graze/supergraze?
Hope that hasn't been asked, whoops if it has. Felt obligated to put something here with the bump and all.

Futo-chan's last spellcard is cool to graze, also the IN extra stage fairies at its very start are cool too because them give you 3k of graze in 20 seconds :V
-
Marine Benefit extra boss Reimu edition with ReimuA 9th spellcard.
BOMBFORGRAZE
+1 life
BOMBFORGAZREAGAIN
+1life
suicide
repeat until timeout
-
Utsuho's non-spells where she just throws a stream of balls.
-
This card from Yuyuko (http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Perfect_Cherry_Blossom/Spell_Cards/Stage_6#Spell_Card_100), one of the more interesting supergrazes because it isn't sitting still in a safespot/invincibility abuse.
-
Hmm, off the top of my head just Naruko's stuff in general from Marine Benefit, particularly her last card. There might be something else, though.
-
My experience with this is limited, but I'll say Chen's final attack in PCB Extra. Some of Ran's spells are also good choices, since that stage is just full of fun grazing. It made me really see the potential of the whole graze idea after SA initially turned me off from it.
Also the fairies in MS stage 1. Those are awesome.
-
- EoSD grazing. It's a fact that doing the useless Rumia head-graze makes the run 25% more pro. Her boss first non is also pretty aggressive to graze, it's cool (though too luck-dependent).
- The end of PCB Stage 2. Timing a border and grazing all that stuff without moving is so cool.
- SA Stage 3 laser orbs are cool to macrododge around. Looks real fine.
-
SA Stage 4 spreading amulets before they spread, and the dense lasers things.
-
I graze in PoFV. am I doing it right? :V
but on a more serious note: Shin's ichirin midboss graze is so badass. it gives me a boner; metaphorically speaking. though, I can't dothat myself. HURR DURR.
touhou grazing is really boring for the most part. MS stage 1 wall fairies are cool, as Zil said, but the series doesn't have anything similar to that. at least not to my knowledge. the closest we get is TD stage 4 opener, but that's too fast to graze like MS stage 1 walls :V
ZUN needs to workd on that, really. Grazing Nazrin's nons is pretty cool, I guess. but I really can't think of more than that.
-
Choosing just one hurts.
一条戻り橋: Keine's second card in IN's Extra, lots of fun. My favorite overall.
木菟咆哮: Mystia's first spell, quite mesmerizing and looks great.
三種の神器郷: Keine's 4th (I think) spell in Stage 3, staying still and watching those orbs fly never felt so good.
蓬莱の玉: Hourai Jewel aka rainbow vomit. Higher difficulty = more fun.
Reimu's Super Duplex Barrier, at least for the first few seconds and Reimu's very last spell in her stage is also quite fun. Xu-Fu's, Hourai Doll and Imperishable Shooting also deserve a mention, but not Honest Man's.
-
Sanae's first spell in SA extra, flying around like a madman grazing those lasers is real cool :V
-
Utsuho's non-spells where she just throws a stream of balls.
-
I love Utsuho's opener and third non-spell. Totally my favorite attacks to supergraze, and they are the most graze intensive attacks in the entire series that I can think of.
-
Any spell from MoF

Okay, let's be serious then. I usually don't graze because
it's a stupid gameplay mechanic I haven't taken the time to learn some IN yet but I guess I can at least post my favorite super grazes just from watching replays. In other words, things that I haven't got the slightest chance of actually pulling off because they are the stuff of actually good players.
Ichirin super-grazing. Just what the fuck. I look at that thing and I cannot comprehend how the fuck they can do that. I cannot even see what the hell is going on yet they do it so excellently. Especially if the 'they' refers to Shin.
Nazrin's Gold Detector. What do you get when you take a stupid easy pattern and try to super graze it? You get the Gold Detector super graze. Probably a hell of a lot more manageable than any of the Ichirin graze stuff but it's almost number 1 to come to mind whenever i think of reasons why UFO handles grazing better than SA. And in this case also how it handles point-blanking better than Ten Desires even though that games' Stage 1 boss has it's own badass spot but that's a super grazing thing so it's not on here.
I should probably also make mentions of stuff from IN or PCB being the most, to quote RNG, grazy games in this series but I don't know enough about those except that most of it is badass as hell.
-
Yuyuko's Repository of Hirokawa -Divine Soul-
Because goddamn, let's just double my graze count near the end of Stage 6 :V
-
I cannot even see what the hell is going on yet they do it so excellently. Especially if the 'they' refers to Shin.
I think Ichirin's nonspells are all position-static. Either one pattern, or alternating between two. Not that I know how to supergraze them myself (the only one I have an idea of is her first boss nonspell, but not consistently, and that one's the most obvious anyway), but I've watched like every one of shin's records since the Hard 3 billion runs, and they seem to involve the same movement every time, relative to Ichirin's position. So perhaps it's a sort of muscle memory?
To answer the question: Too many to decide. I'll say anything that's doable consistently with enough skill/practice. That is, not the Shinki luckgraze. Especially not the Easy version of it.
-
Funeral Concert (PCB 4) supergraze looks really elaborate and awesome.
As for favourite graze to actually perform, I guess I don't really know enough to have much of an opinion. Anything where you just sit in a safespot (or move only a tiny bit) is out though. So e.g. Ichirin's first non supergraze is just a pain, and Eternal Meek grazing is dumb. Deadly Dance (PCB 6) looks cool, is fun, and not super hard. I think I'll go with that! I guess a large portion of the coolest grazes are in PCB after all!
-
Flowery Soul "Butterfly Delusion".
-
Utsuho's non-spells where she just throws a stream of balls.
Same. Mainly cause I'm a shit grazer. :V
-
let's revive this
Which stage 1 or 2 theme is your favourite?
These are usually the themes that are most likely to slip under the radar, but of course (ZUN being ZUN) there are a lot of really good tracks here.
Some of my favourites here are Dimension of Reverie (MS s2 theme), The Refrain of the Great Lovely War (FW s1 theme), Song of the Night Sparrow, The Fantastic Legend of Tohno and Ghostly Eyes, but the one that probably sticks out most to me is Romantic Fall at the moment. The piano part at Shizuha's entrance and the romantic (aha) main melody are the things that have won me over recently. Seriously, listen to a piano cover of this, it's beautiful.
-
Paradise ~ Deep Mountain for favourite Stage 1 theme and favourite Stage 1/2 theme. It's so beautiful.
The Road of the Apotropaic God ~ Dark Road/Song of the Night Sparrow for favourite Stage 2 theme.
-
At the end of spring (UFO Stage 1)is one of my favorites along with sealed cloud route(UFO Stage 2). But my absolute favorite would go to a soul as deep as ground cherry (EoSD Stage 1)
-
Stage 1: At the End of Spring (UFO), cool piano :)
Stage 2: The Bridge People No Longer Cross (SA), cool beat :)
-
Certainly IN stage 1 and 2. Ghostly Eyes is one of my favorite themes of the series, and Song of The Night Sparrow is damn awesome.
-
Stage 1 is The Dark Blowhole from SA. I dunno why, but I just like it.
But my favorite Stage 2 theme is The Sealed Cloud Route from UFO. It's just nostalgic for me for some reason.
-
Favorite Stage 1 theme is Dark Blowhole. Somewhat standard answer. But my favorite Stage 2 theme is Year-Round Absorbed Curiosity, a song I don't see too many people ever talking about.
-
End of Daylight
-
Night Sakura of Dead Spirits.
As much as the stage itself is awful, that theme is just beautiful.
-
Stage 1 is by far Night Sakura of Dead Spirits. Stage 2 is a tie between Sealed Cloud Route and Dark Road.
-
Uh... Stage 1... I like all of them too much. I can't decide!
Stage 2 is most likely Dimension of Reverie, though Song of the Night Sparrow is good too.
-
Both go to IN for me.
Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes & Voice of the Night Sparrow ~ Night Bird
-
Year-Round Absorbed Curiosity
-
Both go to IN for me.
Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes & Voice of the Night Sparrow ~ Night Bird
*highfives* BV
-
Stage 1 is easy. UFO. Pretty nice stuff.
Stage 2 is harder. Not too memorable most of the time. I guess PCB.
-
1. Ghostly Eyes
2. Dimension of Reverie
-
Stage 1: SA's "Dark Blowhole," I've always kinda loved it. Or TD's "Night Sakura of Dead Spirits," because it's pretty.
Stage 2: IN's "Song of the Night Sparrow ~ Night Bird," and it needs more love. Or MoF's "The Road of the Apotropic God ~ Dark Road," again I've always just kinda loved it.
-
Stage 1: Night Sakura of Dead Spirits
Stage 2: Song of the Night Sparrow ~ Night Bird
-
Both go to SA :D especially The Bridge that Nobody Crosses: One of my most favorite themes from all Windows series music by ZUN.
-
Stage 1 - Romantic Fall from MoF (I seem to be in a minority on this)
Stage 2 - EoSD, don't remember the name
-

All right, it's probably been long enough, so let's see...I think this should be interesting enough...
What is your favorite music from a Touhou game you haven't played?
For me, G Free Final Dream from CtC comes really really close, but ultimately I have to go with Wonderful Heaven (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYPi2z1i5WY). I suck at fighters so I never bothered with SWR, but that track is just... :*
-
if "almost never" counts as "never", The Ground's Color Is Yellow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EV-H1zJbKk) is definitely my pick (the one occasion I played this game was pretty much just to hear that very song anyway).
sadly I've played all the fighters for a few minutes, but there are a few songs I really like that I haven't encountered in the games. From those, Onigashima in the Fairyland (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gP3J--2-HA) is probably my favourite.
and well, if those don't count, the only fangame theme I even know (that isn't from MB, which I have dabbled in) is One-way Accelerator (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4nfj04yqM0). It's a great theme, though (5/4 goodness mmm).

Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt4D2YG4q0Q) and Septette for the Dead Princess (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTH9ugU2BJI) from IaMP are amazing. Gotta love that guitar.
Maybe Night Falls ~ Evening Star (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHS8gcVYP58) comes next. I'm a sucker for fun/crazy sounding music.
-
Sky of Scarlet Perception, SWR's title theme. I had SWR so I could unlock the extra characters in Soku, but I never actually played it.
-
It would be a tie between Yumemi and Kana's musics from PoDD. I have played half a credit of it 3 years ago and that's it. Hardly counts as having played it.
Can't answer for a Touhou game i haven't played since i've played all of them for at least a little bit.
-
Let's see here...
I can choose from HRtP, SoEW and PoDD. Oh and IaMP.
Hmmm...probably "Now, Until the Moment You Die" from the ONE time I played HRtP forever ago.
-
The Tank Girl's Dream or She's in a Temple. Extra Love is pretty good too. That music is part of the reason Rika is my favorite PC-98 character.
-
Now, until the moment you die. Great song!
-
It would be Magic Mirror for me!
-
Alice in Wonderland.
-
The Grimoire of Alice is silly but it gets me fucking PUMPED
-
The Grimoire of Alice is silly but it gets me fucking PUMPED
Yop, it kind of does that.
I remember liking one of Sariel's themes.
-
Illusion of a Maid ~ Icemilk Magic
-
Hmm... Magus Night? Don't hate me for not playing Great Fairy Wars - my computer lags heavily with Touhou 11+ (though I have played 11 and 12 on school computers).
-
Magus Night is awesome.
For PC-98 era, Kana's theme is pure gold.
-
Strawberry Crisis.
But Grimoire of Alice is great too.
-
dang, I played all games but if games I haven't beaten count... then it would be Icemilk Magic indeed.
If I think about games I have played the least, then Reincarnation lol
-
Strange Oriental Discourse from HRtP, specifically the Akyu's Untouched Score version. There was a time when I actually disliked the sound of original Touhou songs. Strange Oriental Discourse was my favourite original song during this age of darkness.
-
Magus Night (although I have played a bit of GFW, I haven't played the Extra yet, so I guess it sorta counts)
Demystify Feast (I only listened to the EWI version, though)
Idk, I haven't listed to 90% of the music from Touhou games I haven't played. :V
-
*Shameless bump alert*
Can anyone create new questions about Touhou? Also I think that it would be better to change the "daily" to "weekly".
-
Eh, OK, I'll try to remember to ask a question every week if nobody else does. It would be nice if others helped, of course.
Might as well now ask to the logical follow-up to my last question that I never did.
Favorite ZUN rendition of Marisa Kirisame in-game portraits?
Yeah. ZUN only, so no fighting games or GFW. And in-game portraits only - if you remember when I asked this for Reimu, a bunch of people said UFO title screen, which isn't really what I wanted.
-
SA.
Or if we incount the PC-98 games, she is really cool looking in PoDD. It looks like she is putting up kind of an act when casting and it seems like she is really liking it.
-
I think she looks great in PoDD, but the hand gesture and everything makes it seem almost traced from another portrait in TSS I think it was. Stupid ZUN!
I think her portraits are quite pretty in of the games, especially EoSD, PCB, UFO. I think I'll say UFO for this one. She looks so dignified in it, and a lot more childish in EoSD/PCB.
-
IN rabbit Marisa FTW
(http://imageshack.us/a/img51/2904/marisarabbit.jpg)
-
Gonna have to say either SA or UFO. SA for the overall outfit, UFO for that smug face and the "M' on her apron.
-

It was a nurse from the Rance series, actually. http://panchira.wordpress.com/2011/11/20/the-doubted-plagiarism-in-touhou/
Personally, I like how she looks in EoSD and PCB as well. Very soft and cuddly.
-
I'll have to say UFO on this one. I dunno why exactly, there's just something about her design in UFO that just makes her hot. I also love the M on her clothes :3
-

That's the page I remember it from, thanks. If you ignored that, it would be my favorite portrait, because she looks so badass in it.
-
UFO, it's the "M" apron.
-
I like both the IN and PoFV renditions, personally.
-
I liked EoSD's Marisa. She looks so carefree in that game. Granted, I don't have problems with most of the artwork (unlike some people...), but EoSD's Marisa in general was very nice looking.
-
Gonna have to say either SA or UFO. SA for the overall outfit, UFO for that smug face and the "M' on her apron.
Exactly that.
-
The EoSD one is my favorite. I also like the SA one and the PoFV one quite a bit.
-

BTW you could put the period time when the people can answer your question before someone asking a new question, something like:
Question date: 2013/05/07
Question change date: 2013/05/14

-
probably a tie between SoEW and IN for me
special mention for UFO, brought to you by the letter M :V
-
I like SA Marisa. She's probably my favourite.
Also, no love for TD Marisa yet? I find her pretty cute.
-
Nice topic here. I have a few questions, so let me try now.
What is your favourite credits roll sequence?
Watching one of those after you do a run where you achieve something is a great moment. Mine is TD one, and given I explored games chronologically, that's saying a lot. "Wow a starry sky... Wait, those are not stars! They're the divine spirits rising into the sky! My goodness, what a wondrous sight. You sure have a grand resurrection, Miko.
"
-
Uhhhh, SoEW has a nice tune and lots of pc-98 ZUNart goodness. In the recent games I'd go with MoF for nostalgic reasons followed by SA for nice music and execution and then IN also for nostalgic reasons.
-
Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, I like the flying around the mountain tops.
-
EoSD.
-
IN
-
I have to say IN. EoSD and MoF are also really good.
-
This question isn't going places since you said 'favorite' instead of 'best'; most likely to be your favorite / most memorable game, sometimes interchangeable sometimes not.
-
Imperishable Night. The picture with the moon in the background on top of the mountains and the amazing music just makes it so great.
-
This question isn't going places since you said 'favorite' instead of 'best'; most likely to be your favorite / most memorable game, sometimes interchangeable sometimes not.
This topic was about favourites since its first incarnation. Just read "favourite" as "best in your opinion", since any such questions are a matter of opinion anyway.
-
IN
-
IN
-
PoDD's. Music's so good it was covered in IN. Plus, I only let the credits roll after a 1cc, so it's especially sweet for me each time it plays. Or so I recall.
EoSD's still holds a special place but at a distant second. Would also give a nod to LLS's if Crescent Dream had been used, but it was ZUN'd: "I was going to use this for the staff roll. It's not STG-esque, though, so I threw it out." Too good for Toho.
-
EoSD's is my definitely favourite, it really delivers the "You've won! Relax and bask in achievement~" feel, like you've overcome a massive trial and can finally stretch out to feel the sun on you~
PCB's is close up because it was my first 1cc ever and gives me really fond memories~
SA is naturally one of my favourites too, but it's quite biased :derp:
-
PoDD. it simply has the most satisfying credit scene I have ever felt. it's probably tightly linked to its difficulty. I shouted out cries of joy during it ebcause fucking chiyuri 1cc etc. it has less to do with the crdit theme (which I like regardless).
if I went for music alone, It's SA. favorite credit theme in the series. but it doesn't give me that feel.
-
Yeah, PoDD's. Favorite game, most satisfying, etc. I also don't get to hear it as often as I used to since I tend to destroy myself in the name of scoring. This is a good thing. The 1cc is once again a rarity. Something to be hoped for rather than expected, snatched from the fire and brimstone.
-
... To be honest i kinda just fast forward through them every time. Even when i win.
UFO's at least felt good to listen to when I first time beat the game so I guess I'll just say that.
-
EoSD. Maybe.
-
IN's cause it was where I learnt you could fast forward it >_>
-
SA is naturally one of my favourites too, but it's quite biased :derp:
Yeah, me too. God, I'm such an SA fangirl.
I'm quite fond of UFO's credits as well. Music is so nice.
-
PCB and IN's credits are the only ones I have more than vague memories of. PCB probably wins this one for me since it was the first credit roll sequence I witnessed and I like the music, but frankly, I don't care about the credits.
Anyway, it's time for a new question, but I cannot think of a good one at the moment, so somebody else may ask.
-
How about?
Which boss has the best set of spellcard names??
That boss that you think that her spellcard names describes best her personality, attacks or just her history?
Personally I like Yuyuko's spellcards names, for me she is the "progressive metal" from the Touhou Universe, each spellcard name from her tell us a bit of her background, also these names sounds pretty badass.
PS: Next question date: Jun 03, 2013
-
Keine.
-
Koishi
I like Genetics of the Subconscious a lot, but stuff like Rorschach in Danmaku is also pretty awesome.
-
Unnamed Giant Catfish
Actually, I'm fond of Futo's (TD) spellcard theme. It's like she's telling you her story through them. I know nothing about her historical basis, but those names alone give the impression of an ancient Japanese epic behind them.
-
Remilia / Nue
-
Reimu in IN
-
Kaguya and Remilia
-
Let's see, Koishi, Byakuren, Remilia, Eirin, and Suwako.
-
Parsee, Keine and Koishi
-
Time to ask a new question.
What Touhou bosses do you find easy but everyone else finds is hard? This question is very exaggerated.
I don't really have one at the moment.
-
Youmu (I got the hang of her nonspells nicely), Shou and Seiga (I actually LIKE curvy lasers)
-
LLS Reimu. I have a much harder time with Marisa, yet everyone says Reimu is supposed to be the hard one.
To me, though, it's more a matter of individual boss patterns than bosses as a whole. For example, Satori's Princess Undine card was one of my personal easiest timeouts, yet everyone says it's supposed to be horrifyingly hard; I just don't see the issue with the card. But I can't say Satori as a whole, because I struggle badly with Border of Wave and Particle for some unfathomable reason.
-
Maybe Eirin, everybody says that she is harder than Kaguya but for me Kaguya is harder =o
-
Yukari. People say she's harder than Mokou, I don't get that.
-
Mountain of Faith Aya :V
Only remotely difficult thing is PWG and even that's not too terrible.
Though I'm awful at Nitori and consistency :ohdear:
-
I've seen people complain about Parsee a lot, but I don't think she's that bad (off days don't count).
-
PoFV Aya or Medicine. I find them way easier than Yuuka.
Maybe IN Reimu too ; she's usually much less of a bombspam than Marisa.
-
Subterranean Animism :V
-
Eirin.
I find Kaguya harder.
Also I laugh at people who think IN Marisa is easier than IN Reimu. IN Reimu is mostly set patterns. IN Marisa throws random walls of stuff at you which can initiate bombspam and deaths.
Only Fantasy Seal -Spread- is bad with Reimu. All of Marisa's spells are mayhem.
-
I've seen people complain about Parsee a lot, but I don't think she's that bad (off days don't count).
This, in fact Parsee probably gave me the least trouble when I had actually learned her. The other stage 2 bosses usually throw me off with attacks like Perfect Freeze, Broken Charm of Protection, Mystia's moth spell and Kyouko's last non.
-
Remilia's Scarlet Shoot. That one prevented me from capturing all of Remi's spellcards for the longest time.
-
Umm... Did you read the question Sahgren?
-
What card you find your personal nemesis, yes? Scarlet Shoot sticks out in my mind because I had so much trouble with it.
My bad, I didn't see the new question on the last page. :(
I've heard my friends complain about Patchy a good bit. I thought she wasn't that bad if you didn't let her intimidate you.
-
I'm going to say Shou. I wouldn't say I have an easy time with her, but I didn't find her the WHOAMFGWTFBBQ IMPOSSIBRU I've heard. Murasa (and her stage) gives me more trouble than Shou.
-
Sariel
-
IN Marisa
Most of the fight is static, and Asteroid Belt isn't really that hard. I'd actually say that she's the easiest windows stage 4 boss to get good at.
Reimu, on the other hand, is random as heck, and when you're fighting her, you have to use either magic team or scarlet team, both of which are harder to use than border team. Some of her attacks are not that hard, but overall, I find her much harder than Marisa.
-
Ichirin. The only thing I find pretty difficult about her is her first spell. Everything else is not bad at all, especially her non-spells.
-
ORIN!!
I wouldn't say she's easy though, just not as hard as some may find her once you get used to her :3
-
Rumia.
She's honestly not that hard after putting in enough practice.
-
ORIN!!
I wouldn't say she's easy though, just not as hard as some may find her once you get used to her :3
And how long does it take to get used to her? :derp:
-
Rumia.
She's honestly not that hard after putting in enough practice.
Daiyousei ain't that hard if you don't circle around her.
Ichirin. The only thing I find pretty difficult about her is her first spell. Everything else is not bad at all, especially her non-spells.
Serious answer: This.
-
Imperishable Night Reimu. Unless her randomness decides to be exceptionally nasty I find her to be hugely easier than Marisa (which isn't to say she isn't fairly difficult, but I find Marisa to be extremely difficult). I've also kind of become acclimated to Orin, but sometimes I lose control somewhere in her stage and find it almost impossible to recover so bad runs of her stage still happen regularly.
-
ORIN!!
I wouldn't say she's easy though, just not as hard as some may find her once you get used to her :3
I saw that coming. And pretty sure everyone else did. :V
Oh and I'd add Remilia as well. Granted, she's hard to perfect. But in my second lunatic 1cc of it (which was also my 3rd Lunatic 1cc ever) I only needed 1 life and 2 bombs to make it through her, and it was ReimuB's bomb, which is merely for survival outside of scoring.
(also, the question would be much easier for me if it was the other way around, about bosses that others find easy but I find hard :colonveeplusalpha:)
-
Daiyousei ain't that hard if you don't circle around her.
Fuck off, she's impossible.
Serious answer from me: Anyone who isn't Kaguya, Remilia, Shou, Byakuren and Patchouli. These games need more difficult bosses.
-
Patchouli. Often capture all her spells, at times I fail one but rarely more than that.
-
Fujiwara No Moku. I heard quite a few times about how hard she is but honestly she's the only Extra boss I've beaten and can clear her and all of her cards except for Imperishable Shooting.
Satori, I can clear most except for that butterfly one where they circle around and change directions.
-
Time to inverse the previous question.
What Touhou bosses do you find hard but everyone else finds is easy? Stillvery exaggerated.
Sanae for me.
-
Shizuha :( Dodging VoWG is easier than FLoM.
-
Kogasa and Yuyuko, both from lack of experience.
-
Yuugi - lack of memo.
Keine - don't know how easy people find her, but for me she's troublesome.
Hina - that last spellcard gets me so often.
-
Kyouko. She rapes the shit out of me.
-
Yuugi. Her nonspells are evil.
Ex-Keine. Pretty sure I never captured her first and third spells.
Sanae.
Maybe Nitori too.
-
Yuyuko - I bomb the shit out of her and I can only capture her first spell card.
Captain Murasa - Not really hard but annoying, especially the card where the bullets move according to the angle between you and her.
Mamizou - Don't know why people say she's easy, I can't get her last 4 without bombing through.
Sakuya - I suck at knife dodging, nuff said.
Orin - Annoying.
-
Cirno, no seriously. I go into EoSD all LOL (9) and get my ass kicked. Stupid fandom making me think it's gonna be easy cause she's dumb, when in reality throwing all bullets all willy-nilly and then stopping them and then throwing them in even randomer directioins is probably the least dumb thing to do in a game with patterns.
-
IN on Easy.
-
> Sakuya
> Orin
nobody finds these bosses easy. sakuya has overall a high difficulty with a killer spell at the end, to boot. and every I know has trouble against orin. even nindel dies to her more or less regularly, afaik.
for me it's wriggle on easy. I have a 40% caprate on wriggle's last spellcard. can't go in circles. Marisa as a whole is also really hard. also, fuck kaguya. all of my pain ;_;
-
Nitori and to a lesser extent, Kanako.
Extending Arm is evil, and on lunatic I fail Kappa's Illusory Waterfall as often as I fail Hydro Camouflage (and derp on Spin the Cephalic Plate)
Kanako's first nonspell is pure luck for me and Source of Rains relies on good RNG with the arrows. Oh and I lost my ability to dodge VoWG, yay :ohdear:
-
Honestly, Ten Desires in general. I have no idea what people are talking about when they call it an easy game.
Yoshika just overwhelms me, Seiga winds up walling me, Stage 5 has ARROWS with the most cliptastic hitboxes I've ever seen in a Touhou game (I am begging you ZUN never use those danmaku again, they'd be reasonable at half the hitbox size), and Miko is like Yoshika 2.0. Not to mention Seiga and Miko both use enormous ball bullets that just love to clip me, and Miko's are hard to even see the edges of.
I'd sooner 1CC SA Lunatic than 1CC TD Lunatic, if that's any indication.
-
I have the worst luck with Okuu sometimes. While she's not the hardest final boss, dear god can she eat my lives like candy if I don't bomb spam.
Speaking of final bosses, Yuyuko is seriously an issue for me. I just cannot do her cards, Youmu too.
-
Keine pwns me
-
Remilia. No they don't think she's easy but they certainly don't find her as hard as I do.
Other than that, I dunno. A lot of bosses in Touhou seem to use the trick of making you think that the boss is actually quite easy but that's part of her ploy to catch you off guard in a full run with a particularly nasty piece of RNG or simply the player being nervous or something so I guess the answer to this question could be EVERYONE.
Touhous. They are all assholes. They exist entirely to fuck me in one way or another
Usually making me cry as I feel violated, having to restart my entire run because the boss who usually seems easy enough in practice suddenly feels a lot worse.
So yeah, everyone.
-
Okuu, Orin, Ichirin, Murasa, Nue, Yoshika, Seiga, Futo. I can probably blame that on me almost never playing those games though.
-
PCB Alice. Dolls2stronk.
-
...Touhou has easy bosses?
Actually, Ichirin's nonspells and final spellcard give me way more trouble than they should.
-
Cirno, no seriously. I go into EoSD all LOL ⑨ and get my ass kicked. Stupid fandom making me think it's gonna be easy cause she's dumb, when in reality throwing all bullets all willy-nilly and then stopping them and then throwing them in even randomer directioins is probably the least dumb thing to do in a game with patterns.
Oh yeah Cirno is tough, that perfect freeze. That first non-spellcard attack grrrrr...
-
That first non-spellcard attack grrrrr...
Safespot. :V
-
Safespot. :V
(http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/7223/ryj2.jpg)
My pride doesn't allow me to use safespots and sometimes it doesn't allow me to use bombs too :(
PS: Orin you are an exception
-
Personally, I find getting that safespot harder than dodging it normally.
-
there is no reason not to use it considering it's super easy and it's more beneficial for score than just dodging it. you are not only making it harder on yourself, you also miss out on score (albeit not much)
-
EDIT: Sorry about that. I was feeling really depressed at the moment of writing.
But to be honest and put in a less offensive and dickish way, it's as BT says. If you know what you are doing, it's not a hard attack. For Hard/Lunatic, I usually misdirect her first shot to the right, then the second to the left and then I move down and dodge the third one. I would imagine that strat would work on Easy/Normal as well.
-
The kind gentlemen are saying that Cirno's first nonspell shouldn't give you problems... provided you know what you're doing. Don't be afraid to misdirect her blasts at the very last second, from a high vertical point.
-
It's been a while, so here's a new one.
Which boss has the best nonspells?
The two that come to mind are (boss) Sakuya and Kaguya. Sakuya's first two and Kaguya's first in particular require a lot of quick dodging and "reading ahead" skills which makes them really fast-paced and fun, and somewhat VoWG-ish in style. Sakuya's last has annoying hitboxes, but tests your reading skills and is satisfying to dodge as well. Kaguya's last also has a lot of reading, but in a different way, and it manages to be pretty intense despite being slow and not too hard. Her second also has great random dodging with some strategic misdirection, although her third isn't that special I suppose.
There's also a few others that I like, such as Mokou's 6th and 7th (and probably Ran/Yukari's 7th as well, but I usually chicken out on that one and use a border), which are challenging, but always fair and require quick switches between reading the fast and slow bullets. Sanae's (boss) first is similar to Sakuya's and Kaguya's first, although it has a tendency to wall you if you're fooling around.
Yes, I'm a fan of reading-based random dodging. :derp:
-
Sakuya on Max Rank rulz!!
-
I like Murasa and Hina's for aesthetics.
-
Sakuya's are strangely enjoyable. Remilia's aren't half bad either, they feel like spellcards themselves. I also enjoy Murasa's (I love rainlike danmaku) and Shou's (I love curvy lasers).
-
Luna Child, Sunny Milk, Star Sapphire, Marisa. GFW has the best non spells by far.
Sakuya's first and second nons are great fun. Yumeko is the only PC98 boss worth a damn. Can't really think of any other bosses with especially good non spells at the moment... Shou's maybe but the second one is too hard for me.
-
Nitori's. (http://puu.sh/3Ap0i.bmp)
-
Mokou's, but only because of the first one (http://i.imgur.com/hv4tQ0J.png).
-
Kagerou, Nue, Reimu, and Kanako.
Oh, and Flandre, for hilarity's sake.
Aesthetically, I think Satori's nons are very beautiful. Same with Ran/Yukari, and Yuyuko.
Also, I love playing against Orin's third nonspell.
-
Luna Child, Sunny Milk, Star Sapphire, Marisa. GFW has the best non spells by far.
I didn't consider these when considering the question. I support this 100%, Sakuya kinda sucks in comparison to the awesome fairies :D
-
Yuyuko, Remilia, Mokou, Nue, Koishi.
-
Mokou's last three are pretty great, and the first is fun to graze. Sakuya's second is excellent.
But yeah GFW kicks ass with nonspells.
-
Is it bad that I like Ichirin's non spells due to the surprise cross lasers? I like Reisen, Tewi, Marisa, and Yuyuko (1st TD boss), and Kyouko's also for shits and giggles.
-
Yuyuko
-
If pc98 counts (somehow) definitely Mugetsu/Gengetsu. Sooo much fun IMO.
Other than that I found Kanakos, Mamizous, Alice Margatroids (PCB) and The Prismriver Sisters nonspells to be quite entertaining.
-
I'll also group the Three Mischievous Fairies together for this. Their difficulty helps here, as it's just high enough to make them a fun challenge as opposed to "just another thing I have to get through".
-
The Three Fairies get my vote too.
-
No one talks about Rumia.
I personally like Rumia's nonspells for their variety. Emphasis on variety.
-
My favourite noncards:
-Kagerou's for looking cool and being fun attacks based on quick reading.
-Murasa's are kind of repetitive, but beautiful.
-Ichirin's surprise lasers and bullet rows that require quick movements are pretty fun
-EoSD Cirno's have some charm to me.
-Byakuren's for beauty and variety.
-
Non spells, huh?
Koishi and Nue for fun mixed with difficulty.
Byakuren and Satori for patterns.
Sekibanki for overall "what" factor.
Kyouko for being interesting (also frustrating) and also keeps with her theme/ability.
-
What's the most comfortable way to play Touhou?
I'm still not quite sure how to best phrase my question, or whether it's even compatible with the thread's premise, so allow me to elaborate a bit. When playing Touhou, how exactly do you make sure that you're as comfortable and focused as possible? Do you use a laptop or a standard PC? Any particular controller/control scheme, or is any random keyboard/gamepad good enough?Do you sit on an armchair, lie on your bed with your head resting on a pillow, or sit on the floor cross-legged like a Turk? Is the screen on the same height level as your eyes? Do you stick your nose into the screen or keep your head at a distance? And any other conceivable playing habits.
Hey, don't laugh, those are all crucial tactical issues, well worth discussing!
As for myself, the answer is unfortunately "I don"t know". I admit that self -nterest is partially the motive behind my question. I usually play on a laptop, using UHJK as directional keys, sitting on my armchair and leaning more and more towards the screen as the game progresses (I guess the leaning part is subconscious), but I can tell there's something wrong with my setup.
-
Laying comfortably on my bed, resting the laptop on my chest. The entire time, your little sister and one of her friends should cosplay as Koishi and Suwako as they lay by your side, providing you and your body with the comfort it needs. As well as snacks, wine and... well, stress relief. Your right hand will rest on the laptop, your fingers resting on the IJKL keys that you have remapped the directional keys to. Your left hand will do the same but for the Shift, Z,X and C buttons.
While I'm not exactly sure if these are the performance-wise best options, it is certainly not going to be more comfortable. ;) ;) ;) ;)
I post this because I have no idea which set-ups would be ideal for your performance. I suppose as long as you got a comfortable chair and play on a monitor that allows you to keep track of everything important (don't play with one that is too small or large) with a keyboard which keys feel comfortable (or pads if you don't like being flat keyboards or sticks)
-

I decided to post here rather than make a new "Please help me!!!" thread because I'm curious about everyone's preferences, not looking for direct advice (which is of course pretty much impossible in this case). As a result, there's a new question in the thread, and if any of the answers happens to be helpful in my particular case, then good for me. Everyone wins.
-
Laptop in bed sitting up. I've tried playing laying down, but it doesn't work out so well for the most part.
-
Laptop on my lap enough said, it makes reaching the keys more easier for me.
-
Laptop on the height of my chest and ~20cm away from it.
-
Desktop. Rotating armchair. Forearms on armrests. Default controls. Old trusty keyboard, horizontally centered on monitor. Monitor's center a bit lower than eye level when sitting upright, but top third of the screen is at looking straight level. Don't lean forward more than usual when playing, I can focus or unfocus my eyes just fine. Breaks every half an hour (like after each full run) with physical exercise (walking and stretching).
-

Change the Document holder by my laptop screen and the cool chair by a poor iron one.

Still haven't been able to figure this out. I think "laptop, on table" is the way to go but the rest is a mystery. Partly this is a problem because all of my furniture is broken, so I don't really have a good chair. I think headphones are a good idea, but my nice headphones are broken. Next week I plan on buying a nice office chair and some high-end headphones, so after that it's just a matter of figuring out the correct table height and distance, what monitor to use, and maybe getting a better keyboard.
