Quick create.swf question
« Reply #930 on: October 10, 2012, 04:09:01 AM »
The manual for create.swf that's linked from the internal Eirin menu seems to be down, along with its host in general.

Anyone have it saved in any format?

I feel as if I should know this, but what does PoCS stand for?

Nevermind, I found out. Apparently it's Phantasmagoria of Corrupted Souls, a Touhou RP thing.

What happened to Cirnoisagenius? D:

He, like, shut down all of his sites in one swoop.

Also, why is the site for the Touhou clock giving me 403 errors?

Epic noob english language question I think, but lets go. The name of the Touhou SA's extra stage is "Last Remote". What means exactly  this "Last Remote"? For me it makes no sense, looking at the dictionary I got the following meanings:

remote  (rɪˈməʊt)

? adj
1.    located far away; distant
2.    far from any centre of population, society, or civilization; out-of-the-way
3.    distant in time
4.    distantly related or connected: a remote cousin
5.    removed, as from the source or point of action
6.    slight or faint (esp in the phrases not the remotest idea, a remote chance )
7.    (of a person's manner) aloof or abstracted
8.    operated from a distance; remote-controlled: a remote monitor

So the only thing that I can imagine is a shrine maiden fighting for the last remote control  :V

I don't think the names of songs actually mean anything significant, especially the parts that are in English (ZUN's grasp of which is somewhat notoriously shaky).

It means that Satori really really wanted to watch Supernatural but Koishi really wanted to watch The Office and Satori was all KOISHI I AM GOING TO WATCH SUPERNATURAL AND THAT'S FINAL and Koishi was all SCREW THE POLICE I DO WHAT I WANT and Satori kicked Koishi out of the Palace but not before Koishi stole the last remote, knowing that Satori is too lazy to get up off her ass and change channels manually.

Or just this.

So according to Alice, Reimu has only 27.68 percent of her strength. Alice is the seven coloured puppeteer, but Reimu's outfit only has 2 colours and one of them isn't part of the rainbow. So does that mean if Alice went against Reimu in a fight with all of her strength, does that mean theoretically Alice would've won every fight against Reimu? Not trying to start a power-level discussion BTW.

Alice's argument is invalid, since white is the mix of all colors, so Reimu has the power of 7 seven-colors plus extra red :P

And IDK why Alice is the seven coloured puppeteer, her clothes have only 3 colors and her dolls don't looks like a rainbow.

i would assume code
All of the backgrounds, with a few exceptions, look like just textures laid out in a specific way.
Like, for stage 3 of MOF, maybe a river texture with trees overlaid near the side

For other ones, like stage 6 of MOF, they use shapes that would be fairly easy to replicate with code. Even if that's not the case, though, it's entirely possible that he models the backgrounds for the stages in some software like metasequoia (unlikely).

There are no models. It's just more texture manipulation.

This is what I added to Alice's page long ago on the wiki.

"Strange and Bright Nature Deity chapter 6 has Sunny Milk attempting to lie to Alice, but accidentally blurting out the truth instead. Among her ramblings, she mentions that she's looking for a magician with a grimoire that "shines wonderfully with all the seven colors of the light". Alice does not deny this to be false. It is possible this is the in-universe explanation for her title, "Seven-Colored Puppeteer". "

Of all my researching and re-reading of various Touhou materials, that's really the only time I've ever come across anything remotely resembling an official explanation for Alice's Seven-Colored Pupeteer title.

Well over all of her PCB spell cards she does shoot red, blue, green, teal, purple, yellow and orange. This of course has little to do with anything like personal traits, though.

I guess if her grimoire shines with the 7 colors of light, it makes sense that her danmaku (which presumably comes from her grimoire) does.  And of course, one or both of these would lead to her being the seven-colored puppeteer.  Of course, this isn't confirmed, but seems like a logical enough conclusion to me.

Magician needs a grimoire to hold spellcards? I didn't know.
Hm... Patchy has one too? What do you think?

I didn't necessarily mean that literally ^^;;;  Her grimoire is either the basis of her power, the reference source that she's deriving her spells/magic from as a regular book, or maybe it literally is coming from her grimoire. Whatever.

When Yoshika starts her 3rd spell card (the one where she summons desire spirits to heal herself), she drops a yellow ball towards her back, which is then immediately absorbed by the player (it's even worth a few points). What is this ball? Has the ball appeared elsewhere in the game?

EDIT: I just saw her dropping another one near the end of her 1st spell card.

Oh wow, I've never noticed that. Took a picture:

[attach=1]

I have a question myself as well. When you finish PCB stage 6 or extras, you get a screen full of cherry items. Sometimes, my cherry value is such that I get a border within the first couple items, meaning I could break it and get a 2nd border before they finish absorbing. Is doing so good/bad/no impact for the score?

Apparently the yellow ball is often dropped by enemies up from sunflower fairies when you bomb them, that's why I saw it during Yoshika's first spell card - I bombed.

Yoshika's last spell card may be the only place where it's dropped without bombing.
