Candela got da big baps, I guess. If I actually got to see the people instead of just their silhouettes when choosing a team, I've already forgotten what they all look like.

The fact that the game has 4 characters and only 1 gets actual fucking art is a huge complaint. I want to see what the actual leaders look like.

The fact we can't is kind of just E X T R E M E L Y L A Z Y not to say that isn't a large part of go's kit but yeah.

also yeah candela has baps and you can kinda tell through the outline look no judge

Wow, living or working in downtown Lansing is super-ultra-easy mode. Every time I've been down there lately every single stop within four blocks of the capital has had a lure on it 100% of the time.

Several local eateries are giving discounts to customers who put an Attract Module on the store while there. Cute.
I made a PADHerder. It's probably out of date though.

People keep dropping lures at Austurv?llur, the town square in front of parliament. In particular, they choose the statue of J?n Sigur?sson, aka the George Washington of Iceland.

So when you go down there to try your luck, there's like a dozen or more people standing around, drinking beer, cheering, swearing, talking about past glories and failures. It's a very social occasion, and kinda refreshing. It's like, all these nerds forgetting to hide their power levels and just enjoying their hobby openly. I bet you could get dates this way.

I picked Team Instinct without really thinking about it. I would like to convert to Team Valor or Mystic please.

All this talk about Valor and Mystic and it's like whhhyyyyy did I even pick horrendous yellow. I don't like yellow, no one likes yellow, it looks horrible in gym portraits, that's why no one picked it.

This is an impulse decision I'm gonna regret for the rest of my life.

That's... kind of surprisingly fitting.
The people I know on Blue and Red: "Yeah I thought about it for a bit, and decided that [team] would be more fun."

The people I know on Yellow (Instinct): "Oh I just chose a team."

Let's talk app optimization!

I'm out and about and I find a Rattata in my backyard sitting atop a pile of fruit. "Pretty nice," I say, as I reach for the power and volume down button to take a screenshot. *Click* goes the phone, and the screenshot animation plays. Mid-way, everything freezes and I see the dreaded "System UI is not responding" message box pop up as the status bar and navigation buttons disappear. Before I can even press the OK button the screen goes white and the phone reboots itself. That's right, a kernel panic occurred because the app pushed important system processes out of RAM, on a phone with two (2) whole gigabytes of RAM! Yay!

It's been really interesting seeing which gyms get sniped instantly and which don't. I've been holding two gyms for over 24 hours now, and both of them are within easy walking distance and map sight of gyms which change hands constantly.

One is tucked away in the woods, but it's in a nature center that has two other gyms that are highly contested. The only difference with the one I'm in is that it's very slightly further away, but one of them is already a decent hike so I'm amazed this one is holding out for so long. The other is on a nature trail less than a quarter of a mile from a shopping mall, and the mall has a gym in the fountain at the center that changed hands three times in the time it took me to cross the parking lot to get to the trail and back. This one is even reachable by road, but nobody has taken it from me yet. And it's not like these are huge, well-guarded gyms either. When I left them both just had me and one other Pokemon.

I wonder what accounts for the difference? There are a couple of other gyms near me that I would consider to be "out of the way" (one is at the very back of a large cemetery, the other is in a residential cul de sac far away from other gyms or stops) and they don't last for very long at all. Might just be coincidence I guess, I'll have to keep an eye out them all over time and see what happens.

I think I might just have to surrender to the might of valor soon, I'm pretty sure the beach gym near me is pretty consistently red.

I mean, who knows though.  Sure would be nice to have something like the ingress map.

Yesterday me and my nephew took the car and roamed the city all over for almost 2 hours. We managed to find Machop and catch him. Detected Kingler but couldn't pin-point his location proper.

Did people find other Fighting pokemon?

The only Fighting types in Gen 1 are Mankeys, Machops, Hitmons, and Poliwrath. Not much to choose from. I know Mankeys spawn in some regions.

Hit Level 14 today. I was at a convention and it was pretty great (the pokemon, not the con, which is crap as usual). Tomorrow I'm probably going to see if I can take better advantage of the parties there since I was only usually within range of one~two stops and it's more interesting than most of the actual events. I caught so many pokemon today, including a Lapras immediately after I dropped a courtesy lure.

[11:03:15] <Helepolis> dratini also dissapeared
[11:03:21] <Helepolis> couldnt detect belsprout either
[11:03:36] <Helepolis> I am suspecting more and more several pokemons are on rotation spawn
[11:03:48] <Helepolis> their spawn location always fixed but their appearance on timer

Can anybody confirm or reject this based on their own experience. Onix for sure spawns always at same location here. So does Growlith.

Yeah someone researched that and that's how it works, I think each spawn point spawns a Pokemon for 15 minutes, and then the Pokemon disappears, and it spawns another one same time next hour.

What does that do?

The ingress intel map fully maps out every Location in the game, and gives out real-time updates on what it's current status is. Namely, which team owns it.

I'd like maybe gee a bit more on a poke intel map like a less dumb 'find the pokemon!!!' system, maybe, sure, but yeah we'll pretend we're actually keeping the 'exploration' aspect with this mess.

What. A. Troll. Servers have been down for 5 hours straight and it looks like they're finally up now. The problem - I went to the beach a few hours ago and was hoping they'd fix the problem while I was still there. I mean, it actually looked like it! They brought the server back on for like a minute until it crashed again, and in that time I finally found out what PoGo at the beach looks like: hordes of Magikarp, Krabby and Psyduck. Imagine if they replaced all the Pidgey and Rattata with cool Water-types. Except Zubat was still there. :V

Goddammit now I wanna go back and run on the shoreline. ;___________________________;

I just keep getting "Unable to Authenticate" errors.

I'm genuinely beginning to hate this game already. The bugs outweigh the enjoyment.

yeah this morning blew chunks

Probably because of new servers. I don't think they were ready for just how big this game was going to get.

Okay Niantic, please, PLEASE don't fuck this up (any worse). I was just downtown for a couple of hours and there were hundreds and hundreds of people wandering around playing, hanging out, and talking. It was fucking magical. This game has so much potential to be something special. Hell, it already is special in spite of itself, and I want that specialness to last as much as possible. Please acknowledge that you accidentally made something better than the thing you made and take good care of it.

On an unrelated note, saw a Dratini and a KOFFING! on my radar, but I hunted around and couldn't locate either one.
I made a PADHerder. It's probably out of date though.

There is apparently yet another issue going around where every pokemon shows up as 3 steps away. I simply now treat the game as I treat the actual pokemon games, where i'm walking around and suddenly OH GOD FLASHING COLORS AND LOUD BLARING ALARM FROM GSC my phone vibrates. That's more or less how i've caught 85% of anything in this game so far...

Everyone seems to be throwing their hands in the air in frustration, but I remember people doing the same with PAD, and recently we had a "NA is actually good now?!" thread title.

Releases are hard, and the bigger the fanbase/app the more difficult it is.  It can sometimes take days/weeks to fix what seems like a simple bug to the user.  If you've spent money on things only to have the servers go down and waste it, keep note of that and inform Niantic every week or two weeks, they absolutely should compensate you for that, but otherwise patience will help everyone.

As unimaginable as it might be right now if you've been keeping up with the news with how this game has been changing the world over, this game easily has the potential to be far bigger than it currently is. I consider my actions with the game right now an "investment" for when it gets better, so I can enjoy the more completed state not at a noob level. That's how I feel, at least. I've gotta truck through all the glitches and shit without microtransactions and stuff and without any cool grinding spots within reach, but I feel like this is a horse I'm willing to bet on and see how far it goes, and I think a bunch of other people are in Pogo's corner too.
