>Belay, are there dates as such in Gensokyo, or do we largely tell things by the seasons and the incidents surrounding them?
>If calendars are totally a thing, then yeah, ask.

>While people keep loose track of the date for birthdays and such, by and large the years are not measured any more. You are certain Patchouli knows which it would be; likely in several different systems.
>The man returns with a nod. "The Earl is interested," he says. "Come with me."
>When you ask him about the date, he frowns. "Oh, I forgot. Is it the 20th? I think it is the 20th."

>He nods and gestures for you to follow him.
>Through the doors, you find yourself in a claustrophobic stone entryway with wooden floors. A few tapestries hang on the walls, depicting various scenes of foreigners feasting and dancing. He leads you to the left, and into what reminds you of a scaled down, cruder version of one of the sitting rooms in Scarlet Devil Mansion; a couch made of what you assume is deer hide dominates the room, while a small hearth and several tables rest off to the side. More tapestries hang on the walls, depicting what seems to be a deer hunt.
>Sitting on the couch is a tall man with a thin face, a sharp nose, and equally sharp green eyes, with neatly groomed auburn hair that reaches his shoulders. He wears a strange, squarish kind of shirt with defined corners at the shoulders, white slashed with green, and dark green hose. Surrounding him are a number of parchments, organized somewhat carelessly, and a small writing desk in his lap. "So," he says in good Japanese as you enter, "You're the one after our flag, eh?" He gestures to a wooden chair off his right side. "Do have a seat, miss...?"

>You have a seat. The seat is quite comfortable, though it creaks a little as you sit in it. The armrests on are quite welcome.

> "Your hospitality is appreciated, Sir."
>"I suppose you're Mister/Sir (whichever seems more appropriate) Earl, correct ?"

>"Think nothing of it, Miss Izayoi," he says. "I am Sir Kay, Son of Ector. Heir to the Forest Sauvage, Knight of the Round Table, Seneschal to King Pendragon, and come lately Earl of True Glorian. Now may I ask why I shouldn't have you thrown in the stockades for your little stunt?" His voice is calm, he's paying more attention to his papers than you at the moment.

So we ARE back in Avalon? And... I thought the only reason Nue could communicate with the people around here at all was because of the sword she had? What about Yukari closing the gap to Avalon? PURVIS I DEMAND ANSWERS.

I am very aware that we'll probably find all this out during the quest I'm just giving the parser shit.

Stupid me. Of course we're back in Avalon. The bookish magician and the historian exploded something in the magic library. Of course it'd be Avalon-related.

>Have we heard of King Arthur before?

>You might've, but you don't know anything about such a person, or what they would have to do with anything here.

> "Please forgive my impertinence, Sir. I was somehow cast from my homeland, and found myself in a forest near here. As this place was the first village I encountered, I wished to see the flag to possibly learn what nation this might be."

>"And you just charged right up to it, even though it is clearly on top of my battlements?" he says, his voice bored as he sets a paper aside, and picks up another.

> Aside from Japan, what other countries do we know of?

>You aren't very aware of outside world nations, but you know a number of names, but no context to them; Kingdom of Korea, France, Romania, The Song Dynasty, Wallachia, Moldova, The Bourbon Dynasty, Lemuria, Holland, China, likely some others. You really don't think about them much, and know very little. Most of these have come from Mistress' dinner conversations.

> What do we know about Nue Houjuu?

>You know that she is a pest of legend, and something of an acquaintance of Patchouli's. You believe she is aligned with the Myouren Temple. However, you don't hear much about her. Either she has learned to behave, or she's learned to be very subtle. You have no real personal experience with her.
