There is a larger group that seems to be patrolling from north to south, though you don't think that's their intention. Then the third seems to wander around at random, sometimes breaking into two smaller groups before remerging. As you leave the woods where the Hakurei Shrine lies behind, you see the third group meet with the second and clash for a bit, before breaking away.
