I was flailing around trying to get the font/colours/size right on the badge text and TSO came to save the day. Her versions (which are more consistent with other badges) are now in the OP. Many thanks to TSO for being able to font better than me.

I think I wanted to improve these, but never got around to it.

Stayin' Alive - Easy
Prinny - 595,604,530 - C - 4 - 0.313% - Replay

Stayin' Alive - Extra
Prinny - 518,551,090 - C - 0 - 0.082% - Replay

Easy was pretty bad. Failed Resurrection Butterfly. Sort of failed more than I wanted to in Extra. Not sure why the replay isn't labeled a clear, though. I must have been sleepy or that thing mentioned earlier must have happened when I uploaded the run 3 weeks ago.

Also, 1 border broke in the Extra run.

I know it's a bit late to be saying this, but is there any reason why phantasm isn't listed for the survival challenge?

Kinda ashamed to even submit this run but I didn't have time to redo it. Mistakes were everywhere.

Most deaths were to Merlin's opener because I'm not sure how to do it with SakuyaB and was too lazy to look up a replay.

New challenges are up! If you notice any logical mistakes or anything else, let me know and I'll fix them ASAP. I've added the leaderboard idea to the OP along with how you gain points. If you have any suggestions of how to make this system any better that both encourages play without needing to place first and encourages play across all difficulties/challenges, let me know. Deadline is the 1st of February 2015!

Happy new year, everyone.

Hmm... For the survival challenge, I'm wondering something... I remember that in EoSD, if you successfully deathbomb, it still counts it as a death on the final stats screen at the end of the game, even though you don't actually die. I just did a quick run through Easy to verify this, doing a deathbomb once at the start of the game, and then playing through the rest of the game without getting hit (I did use a few more bombs though), and the results screen shows 1 miss, even though I never actually died. So, I assume this would still count as 0 deaths, right?

Survival Challenge - Easy
SomeGuy712x - 72,936,750 - C - 0 - 5 - 0.396% - Replay - Screenshot

(May as well make this an actual entry, even though I wasn't terribly serious about scoring in this run.)

EDIT: Oh, for the survival and scoring challenges, should we note which shot type we used?
(I used MarisaA for this survival challenge run here.)

I will give this a try, even though I suck at scoring in general:

Quick Challenge
Ilikebulletz - 6,057,540 - Ghastly Lantern/Tengu?s Camera - 0.0% - Replay (Attached)

I don't know how bad this is, I have absolutely NO clue how scoring works, other than more graze = more points...

But I figured I could use this as an excuse to play ISC a little more :P

Ghastly Lantern isn't even needed actually, it just makes 1 wave easier to graze, but the challenge allows items, so why would I handicap myself by not using it? xD

Can still get more graze than this, very improveable since I screwed up a bit at the end. Probably going to improve it later.

Some improvements over my previous entry...

I don't see how much improveable this is TBH. Maybe you could get to 9,500,000 somehow, but I don't see how hitting 10,000,000 is possible...

Umm... That doesn't really seem fair, because you don't actually die, and the goal of the survival challenge is to survive, right? So, it doesn't seem right for a deathbomb (which keeps you alive) to add 1 to both your death count and bomb count... (And if you manage to deathbomb a lot, you could end up with a death count that's much higher than the number of lives you could possibly have in the game, which is kind of ridiculous.)

How about this: In addition to the final stats screen, we could take a screenshot at the point where the final end-of-stage bonuses are displayed as well, and then figure out the number of deaths from the lives remaining at that point. If a player gets all of the score-based 1-ups and both 1-up drops from the stage 3 and 5 midbosses, and doesn't die, that player will have the maximum of 8 reserve lives at the end of the game. (I guess we could consider letting a 1-up item drop count as a death if you decide to go that way, unless the final stats screen shows 0 misses to disprove any possible deaths.)

Oh, but the player could start with more than the default amount of lives to throw that off, but maybe the challenge could require that the player start with the default number of lives, which could be verified by looking at the very start of the replay.

What do you think of those ideas?

(Man, why did this challenge have to be complicated by that previously unimportant death counter glitch in EoSD?)

Alright, I decided to try this again, without doing an intentional deathbomb at the start this time, and I managed to pull off a perfect game! I got really nervous towards the end of the Sakuya fight, and almost ran out of time on her final spell (which wouldn't have affected my death or bomb counts, but it would've cost me some points, and it wouldn't have truly been a perfect game then), but I managed to capture it with just a few seconds left!

Well, this is pretty much it for me. Its my soft limit- I don't really see how I can score higher than this, at least.

I traded the Camera sub for the Mallet Sub because I didn't really saw the point in the Camera, it wasn't helping me at all!

Will only try to improve it as soon as someone beats this score, which will almost certainly happen, seeing as theres practically 1 month left of time to do it :P

BTW this is surprisingly FUN. This is like the very first time I have ever "Scored" in Touhou (even if it is on something small), actually. Also, a really nice idea for a thread, OP, thanks for letting it happen! xD.

Perfect Easy 1cc for fun, not very routed (on the stage portions I aimed for power items until full power, point items up to stage 4, and survival-ish in stage 5). Also contains stalling out a few boss patterns for graze/cancels. This took far more attempts than it should have because I kept dying from grazing random things that probably weren't worth the risk.

Edit: It seems I forgot to take a screenshot... Well, it doesn't really matter. I probably won't redo this unless there's a clear scoring route improvement anyway.

Well, once upon a time I really wanted to learn this game. And I didn't. I'm using ReimuA as a counterweight to my lack of skill and knowledge. Somehow this is still my personal best, even though I used bombs like mad in my previous best run, so maybe I am getting better after all? I really should try Marisa and work on my game.
