Your favorite Touhou Characters

Hong Meiling: She's a great character as most of the SDM cast... I didn't like her until I read a fanon comic called "Scarlet Devil".... Makes you truly wonder how she came to be with Remilia and Sakuya. Also... I think she has great potiental... But all I can do now is have a fanon comics and keep reading them. Anyway it also seems despite what fanon says, Hong Meiling is possibly stronger than Sakuya and very close to Remilia (but not like Sakuya of course).

Parsee Mizuhashi She's also a very interesting character with a great theme... She's a guardian of a bridge that people no longer cross... it must truly be lonely there. But to be honest I never understood the ParseexYuugi couple thing.

Yuka: I loved her story... she's from the mansion of dreams, she holds the power of flowers, she's elegant but ruthlessly brutal. I want to know more about her... and in my opinion Byakuren could never ever beat her, not in a milion of years. But also I'm curiose to how she became the master of Elly.

Elly: How could people not want Elly?! D8 I know Sakuya and Remilia is famous but somehow, nobody cares to remember Elly when they come in touch with Yuka. She's awesome and has a great theme, her danmaku is one of a kind in the PC86 universe. DX I want Elly back!!!

5.) Ichirin Kumoi
I don't know exactly why but something about her piques my interest. Oh, and her theme is nice. (Though Unzan can go away while Icihirin and I go out~)

6.) Youmu Konpaku
I really like her theme and I love the fact that she's a swordsman. Oh, and of course she's cute to boot.

I like them two. Ichirin looks terrible in UFO, but I like her design, and some fanart of her is amazing. Youmu looks so badass and kakkoii when you fight her in PCB. Also like her personality.

• One of the most awesome abilities and application of said abilities, if not the most awesome.

• A theme that is great even by touhou standards.

"Boat lights" was a term associated with Suiseiseki of Rozen Maiden, who also had heterochromia.

Pretty much that (and I've heard the term thrown around a lot when talking about Kogasa).

I've always had a thing for heterochromia'd characters, especially if one of the eye colors (red in Kogasa's case) is a huge contrast to their overall color scheme, hair color, etc.

Youmu, I don't know why I like her so much. I don't find her very interesting in the games, but I love her dual katana's and fanwork.
Mokou, her theme is god tier and was the reason I started touhou.
Cirno, because cirno.
Utsuho, love the whole nuclear fusion thing and innovative boss fight. Awesome Music and I really started liking her when I player her in Hisoutensoku.
Flanpan, theme. insane. god mode. looks badass. More than enough reasons.

As of today, I have stumbled upon my new favorite Touhou character, Byakuren Hijiri!

Byakuren gave me one of the most exciting and fun fights I have had playing Touhou!  I fought her straight for an hour and a half (using continues) and... didn't beat her, BUT it was a BLAST!

Going through stage five, shooting through all of the fairies in Makai with the heartbeat and percussion thumping in the background, knowing you're about to stumble upon something spectacular!  The song slows, the only thing remaining is a heartbeat as you sit at the end of Makai, alone, gazing out at the orange sky.  In comes Byakuren, smiling, and greeting you kindly.  After a conversation, the only option is to fight her.  She reacts strongly, her theme starts and then... the fireworks... 

All of her spells are colourful, beautiful, and a blast to play!  Normally when I reach a last boss, it's a struggle for survival.  But against Byakuren, I was enjoying every moment of it, even if I died, I didn't panic, I was having too much fun!

I really like Rin as well.  Her design really soothes me...  The colour of her hair, her braids, her dark green dress, her eyes...   There's just something about her that really attracts me.  Her design combined with the theme of Stage 5, "Lullaby of a Deserted Hell", makes me think of wild, untamed grasslands, going for miles, graced by a cool clam wind, and surrounded by an ocean under dark, calming skies...

On a less personal note ; I like cats.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Keine as well...
Other characters that I like include Shou, Suwako, Koishii, Youmu, Komachi, Remilia, Murasa, Yuyuko, Kanako, Reisen, Letty, Nitori...

Touhou is just full of lovely characters.
 

[Marin The Magus]

I guess that now (and it probably always was) my favorite is Alice.
The first one I met, I like how she's a magician and the whole  Alice in wonderland/Agatha Christie reference.
I think she's cool, and I loooove her outfit.
Her theme song is awesome. Same as her stage song and her ex-boss song and her ex-stage song and her stage (PC-98) boss theme 
I really liked how she acted in PC-98. I kinda saw it as if Alice had stayed in wonderland, she'd be like that.  In PCB she acted like she really knew about...life (or something). It seems that between PCB and IN she started to meet Marisa, and realized how bothersome/talented/cheerful she is xD (that's why they paired/fought with each other in IN xD)

And the dolls...They need more love, seriously. I mean...GOLIATH DOLL!! xD

[Tamashii Kanjou]

1st: Yuka!
She will always be my favourite, and that's that. I love everything about her; character, ability, you name it. Both her stage and boss themes in LLS are awesome and her theme in PoFV makes me enjoy destroying everyone else in that game; especially Reimu. How I so want her to be playable again. ^^

2nd: Patchouli.
Because who doesn't want to have an endless library with a swimming pool inside it? That and she probably knows a lot of spells... Even if she can't use half of them. But think about what may happen when she can. ^^

I really don't know in what order people would come in after that, but those that I will mention as well are:

Elly: Yuka's not complete without Elly!
Kogasa: 'New Youkai Moe' has a lot to learn from Yuka.
Okazaki: She demands more respect!
Sakuya: ZA WARUDO! That and you can't have maids without 'awesome' hard rock. XD
Mima: COME BACK MIMA! If not for us, then at least for Marisa! You all know this to be true!
Cirno: The strongest main character... Unless you count playable Yuka in MS. :3
Utsuho: She wants to create hell on earth... And we all love bad girls right?
Rinnosuke: Because every lad would want to be in his place; you know it.

My bundle of characters that I like... hmmm...

Yuugi - Manly, but feminine, strong but fun, friendly but parent like.
Kanako - ONBASHI RISER SWORD!!  Putting jokes aside, she is a character that had a huge impact on Gensoukyou.
Suika - Cute, cute, overly cute, but yet smug and knowledgeable.
Shikieiki - I'd work 10 days a week, 40 days a month, and 500 days a year if my boss was her.
Alice - I see her as a sort of "perfection", but yet her cowardly nature is adorable.
Parsee - NETA DERE
Youmu - Being premature is an asset!
Mokou - Words can't say of the charm that she has...
Murasa - Biggest impact in UFO, and a very deep background story...
Mima - No way to deny her charm... oh how we miss her...

Oh my god! Elly!! I wish zun could bring her back too, She is by far my favorite PC-98 character, not only her theme is awesome, but she also has a scythe and a cute hat!

And her tile danmaku is very unique, I don't remember seeing anyone using it in a shmump, the closest thing I can think of are those floating tiles from zelda ALTTP, and they were annoyning.

Also, Yuka needs elly! Otherwise she is just a lonely little girl. If elly ever returns, I'd enjoy the avalanche of yuri between her and yuka that we'd get. :V

5) Suwako Moriya
She's funny and has a nice hat.

4) Kogasa Tatara
Come on, how can you NOT like her?

3) Yuuka Kazami
She is an awesome person, being in two stages as both of their bosses. She may be slow in speed, but she can kick ass!

2) Mima-sama~
The best playable character in Touhou. EVER. I mean, seriously, lots of people like her and wants her back, so why not bring her back in the next touhou game?

1) Mugetsu
I freaking love her. I'm serious. I love her theme, her attacks, and the fact that she has nearly impossible phases if you try to time her out. I love her in that maid uniform, and her attack patterns look fun to play through. Even though she had no relation to the story, I still love her. She's just so freakin' cute, I wanna hug her!

My top characters are Utsuho,Satori and Mokou, Mokou being in third place. I'm not really sure why I love them so much but Satori is partially because I could imagine myself in her position for some reason :/. Okuu is partially pure fanboyism part unexplainable love and Mokou works similar to how it is with Satori.

My favorite character would be Kogasa. Why?

• She has the best artwork by ZUN
• She doesn't cause an incident (yet)
• She is bullied

I am a person that kind of dislikes all the moe-moe stuff as well as those silly fanon facts of the characters. And I also hate demon/vampire girls acting all cute with their tail or cat-tooth or w/e. It is stereotypical and annoying for me. So I avoid such "demon/devil" girl art.

Wait a minute! But Remilia is a devil/vampire girl, you would say no?

Correct but here is the difference (imo). Touhou captured my heart due to the music in Imperishable Night stage 4. But Remilia captured my heart not only with her her theme song, but also her EoSD portrait.

Her EoSD portrait? Doesn't that one look awful?

Not for me. She looked like a real lady of the mansion instead of some happy-moe devil girl. I was surprised. When the music kicked in I was sold. And the soon I got captured I also read on her profile and somehow she just captured my heart.

I am fine with those artwork/comics portraying her as a child or often being charisma broken. The only annoyance for me with silly fanon is her "uuu uuu" nonsense. Remilia remains a badass lady of the mansion who is fucking strong but also smooth and charming. I guess this must be fate, elegance and charisma.

I am just too weak for badass and charisma combination pictures. This goes in general for most artwork.

Rinnosuke. First for be a megane, but after read CoLA turn into an obssesion. His original design-art is gorgeous, how no fall for him...And is a very interesting person, that kind of ones who you want ask things all day. intelectual, intelligent (a bit dreamer however XD) even melancholic...misterious,gentle,and too much beautiful for be alone but he is a loner (no is that more misterious?) fluffy hair,ahoge,glasses,yellow eyes,half youkai ... and his strange curiosity and hobbies.
Marisa: because i like traditional witches,and i like her personality. She have courage and perseverance, she obtain that power with her own research and study How not like her, how no want be a little like her.
Patchouli: charas with purple long hair=love. That and is a bookworm, a magic knowledge storage, (and a yaoi-yuri fangirl in fanon) with a fragile health XD...

there the permanent 3, follow for the rest who for one or another reason are in my heart. yes, all Touhous. Because i like the Gensokyo interaccion with all them.

Sariel: Angel from another religion in the wrong place! even that appear in the first game and was OH WOW. I like how was drawed, and the hair make me love him-her. that and who i can?t defeat that path. XD ...but more i like the facts about the real angel Sariel.Fallen? not fallen? angel of death? who do there in Gensokyo a Buddist-Shintoist place?  why Sariel WHYYY??
Youki : Was a little-by-little one. After investigate about samurais, begin my love for him (and her daugther Youmu...i LOVE her stage)...Because they are awesome. After see the famous SWR parody fanart of him, he obtain the status of my "unpopular faborite" with Evil eye Sigma and Yuugen Magan....because he is...so badass, who people imagine him badass and even with 300 years continue be sexy and badass. That is really something awe Some fan-comics make him badass and cute,and i love his azure sky eyes-or one eye (that depends the fanarts: in the mines he have one). And have myon too! even for imagine kink things he is good. XD
Kogasa: i like paper umbrellas.She is a Tsukumogami-umbrella.
Koishi: she is in your mind and registrating you, deeper and deeper. XD
Suika: first time who i can?t angry with the final boss of a figthing game.
Nitori: Kappas!
Reimu: i respect her. Really, that girl have a strong character.
Yukari: if would exist a woman who can turn lesbi, i think who she is. How she manipulate boundaries, maybe can pull one or two strings and...XD (and she is so beautiful and funny and powerful and misterious in same time...)

I have to agree that Remilia looked/sounded like a real head of the mansion in EoSD. I have to admit that stage 6 of EoSD is where I feel her charisma. HOWEVER, ZUN is not very fond of serious storyline. In IN, Remilia's dialogues started to change from "proud" to arrogant; and in SWR she is only a lil more than a ⑨. I mean, just look at Remilia's story, or worse, Aya's story (where Remi's "mokele mbembe" comes from lol  :V). So Remi was like that in canon and not entirely the fan's fault that she became a loli vampire. Either because he is not good at it (look at SSiB), or because he wanted to please some fans, we never know :/.

EDIT: Actually, lots of characters had their canon personality changed after their first appearance like that. Take Sanae for example. Her dialogues  in MoF was mature and faithfully dedicated to Suwako n Kanako, while in SA and UFO she sounded completely eccentric and somewhat stupid.

[Serena]

Favorite? Koishi. Pretty spellcards, fun fight, great theme, and she's got a great personality too. And she's really cute too.

Flandre's a close second, but only when she's not shown as all crazy and homicidal. Lonely and possibly a bit over-enthusiastic is fine, "Hi! ima kill you now  :V" isn't.

Also, in no particular order; Utsuho (Epic boss fight, arm cannon, etc.), Sakuya (favorite power), Satori (like Koishi, except I thought of her as more serious and less generally happy than Koishi), and Ran (Big fluffy tails <3)

always loved that cute adorable rabbit eyes, and her personality. I love her vocal music, like Sound of red eyes.

2. Suika Ibuki
My favorite from UNL, because she's powerful and funny in Touhou videos I'm watching. Like her music's too like broken moon.

3. Yukari Yakumo
She's hot. She's very very hot. I like how she treat those sinsack. It's just hilarious in her videos I have seen. She have the most awesome vocal music's love them all alot, like Necro fantasy. and a music where the lyrics is starting like "Can you feel my heart". Love that song. 

4. Suwako Moriya
She's cute and have a cute little hat with two eyes. I love her song, Kero Destiny. Even she's the one of the oldest Youkai in Gensokyo, she's still the cutest youkai ever.

5. Cirno, The Ice fairy
Love her, adore her, she the strongest ever. and she have always been my favorite. I have always liked her since day 09/09/09... you know why?...9 is the strongest!

Well, I certainly agree with you. Remilia was charismatic, mature, if you want to call her like that, she wasn't a child(mentally speaking). When I hear her theme, I can picture how Remilia was supposed to be. I seriously don't like her being that...spoiled, but I guess she had to be somewhat spoiled...Anyway, when I saw EoSD, I thought the next things, and these things have changed with the time:
She was wise (philosophical kinda wise)
She was a proud youkai.
Fragile, but strong
Certainly elegant, I mean, LOOK AT HER.
Even when fighting, even when she is about to lose, she will not lose her calm.
All the fanon, and ZUN himself too, have ruined that perfect image I had from her
