Also, Endermen are awesome and I personally think it's cool that they can move blocks, but I agree that it could be frustrating in some situations. The most popular solution I've heard so far is only making them do that if they're chasing you, which would work perfectly.

Alternatively, build all your structures like this...

block water block

Repeat as needed. Watch as vandalizing endermen drown!

Dear Notch,
1.8 is the most amazing thing ever. But please fix everyone dropping ten thousand individual XP orbs upon death in multiplayer and lagging the server down to 2fps every time.
Thank you,
Azure
This is one of the biggest reasons why we on the MotK MC server aren't upgrading yet. 1.8 is a crapton of fun though (playing on my laptop with crappy framerates while desktop is on 1.7.3).

Seems like there's a patch for it. It's listed as for pre-release 2, but at least one person in the thread says it works in the latest version. I haven't personally tried it, though.

...should've just delayed 1.8 further to make an even larger update, but whatever.

Downloading, will do the same with feedback.

Get a laptop cooling mat. I use a Targus Chill Hub XC for that, despite it being for 17" laptops (mine's only 12.3" :V), and it is great for prolonged gaming sessions where it otherwise overheats and shuts itself down after some time.

Laptop cooler will not help my Vaio much. Sony had the foresight of NOT putting air holes anywhere near anything that actually needs to cool down.
The only things that have air holes are the RAM and hard drives. And they're in their own closed section of the laptop

GREAT DESIGN, SONY.

Oh my. First forced use of OEM drivers (can't get any from NVIDIA or AMD, meaning several versions behind), proprietary SSD design (VAIO Z), and now stupid design for cooling (hell even Apple does a better job - the exhaust ports are hidden behind the screen hinge). No wonder Sony is such a flop in the laptop market.

You're not the only one. It makes the rest of the 1.9 crew pretty harmless in comparison.

Yep, I have one more reason to blow up the NPC villages (with Shady) once our server updates to 1.9 (we still haven't gone to 1.8 yet).

I'd be glad to assist in nuking villages once the server is updated to 1.9. I still haven't been able to join in on the fun, since the other server I frequent went to 1.8 with the update and all and I had to update my client.  :V

Coming back in to 1.8 after not playing for a few months, absolutely blown away.

Just came across what looks like an abandoned mine after upturning a desert for building material; amazed at the idea of dungeons and constructions that exist without my existence (besides, free minecart track)

Got Minecraft a few days ago. Been working some on a fort in both Survival and Creative, although lag has been hindering that a fair amount, combined with the fact that you don't get a map in Creative for some reason, and I don't know/am too lazy to make enough paper to make one.

Also, exploding mountains in Creative mode with unlimited TNT works.

oh god so addicting

it does  :wat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7MDqC9A-ck
My pc is quite good but Java can't handle this chain reaction, blowing holes into a mountain works with no problem ^^

You do have one (at least in 1.8, not checked in 1.9).
Nice chain reaction Dorakyura, it would seem it glitched the water a little :D

What? No! Killing cute animals and Herobrine's twisted creations gets boring after a while. Now, slaughtering innocent people is what I yearn for.

Finally, less than two months before the planned release date (11.11.11), Notch is starting to make Minecraft fun. Hell, it's about time. Abandoned mine shafts, strongholds, Nether ruins, experience... things is looking pretty guuuud.

Anyway, still looking forward to redstone light getting a vivid red glow. From what I've seen, all light sources which are not moonlight or sunlight emit yellowish light. That includes redstone torches etc.

Join me and Shady in blowing up NPC villages once we update to 1.9.x! :V

I'd kill for tinted glass, personally, to do just that. Don't see how that would be a problem to implement (though it'd likely be through a separate block).

Yeah. That too. Notch should have noticed by now that, after the huge success of coloured wool, it wouldn't hurt to make the dyes even more versatile, if not outright able to recolor pretty much anything. I'm thinking primarily glass, but painted planks, or stone, or glowstone...  I mean, why the hell not?

Just gonna chime in to say that I love everything about that idea.

Let me make a stained glass painting or a colorful statue that doesn't burn up, damnit!

Considering the game already overlaid textures for Biomes to colour leaves and grass, and coloured transparancy already exists with water, I can't see it being hard at all to do stained glass or colour for any blocks.

Infact given that the ability for texture overlay is already somewhat coded into the game (and another texture layer again now we have texture based light transitions in 1.8) I'd be very suprised if a painting mod doesn't already exist.

Personally not sure what my take on red glow redstone is.  It is nice to light some places with it, but its annoying if you don't want the circuit to light something up like a christmas tree.

(or there was at least the idea of a mod or something)

Finally a use for EXP - but they better patch that bug concerning the orbs first!

Also, with bottles, craftable beer please Notch. :V

Pfft. The bottles are clearly going to be used for Molotov Cocktails. >:D

I am liking how this Experience setup is panning out. Soon, everyone will be able to run frantically and moon jump like a certain Tengu.

Assuming existing ingredients I'll say squid ink sacs  + wool + bottle + flint & steel. :V PX then becomes happy for the rest of the game.

Except these levelling systems just make that certain Tengu's speeds and jumps even sillier than they already are. Soon said figure will defy physics and gravity. XD
