I want to say that someone said that eating would restore a less amount than normal, but still some, along with hunger meter.

Which (apparently) only drains your HP when empty.

I'm (not really) okay with the spiders doing poison damage, since the bow became a more viable option.

However, the silverfish bugs me. There's now a chance of getting hurt for doing something required. It's like if you had a chance of a fist coming out of your porkchop and punching you in the face.

brb learning to mod

Also, it'll likely spawn them a bit of a distance away (not within attack range). And with all mobs (or so notch said) getting their own attack animations/you getting the ability to block?

You should be pretty OK.

Well actually..... No you're right I'm totally poor and helpless  :V  As for the silverfish, I'm sure they wont be that bad.  It's not like they'll explode....right?

Oh right, I forgot about that. I just figured that since it was inside the block, it would pop out bite your face off. And then laugh while watching your character flail about because you just threw your mouse across the room because HOLY FUCK THAT ISN'T A DIAMOND AAAAAAAAAA

Shit, I do that with less-dangerous/surprising things. Creepers give me a heart attack on a regular basis...

It's not like they'll explode....right?

Comments like this make me want to take up modding :3

SPRINTING?

Its nice to have, but I remember games with double tap dodging.

It was really annoying.

Still it looks fun all the stuff hes adding in. Be nice to see it up soon, hopefully without too many good things broken this time.

Bumping because I'm wondering if any of you guys have heard that that Jeb from Mojang intentionally leaked out the pre-release of 1.8 just recently. It's not in the auto update, but it was posted on reddit and on the MC forums. Course I hear this update is buggy since it's contains bugs and is also likely to crash while smelting. So if you want to have a sneak peak at it or help Jeb report bugs (Notch is too busy with Project Rex Kwon Do till after the 18th) you can get it here. (And yes it's an offical leak)

I take it this official leak is done to get any last-minute bugs out of the way. Which is good, seeing as that we on the MotK MC server are sceptical of upgrading right off the bat (due to these bug issues) and are more likely to wait a week to go to 1.8.x.

While it would be fun to check out the leaked version, I think I'll wait until the official release. The Endermen can wait a bit longer before stalking me.

Welp :derp:

The official leak is good though, maybe that way we won't need rushed bug-fix 1.8.1, 1.8.2 and 1.8.3.

do yet?

Aside from making Endermen disappear and reducing aggro range, I mean...

It seems like it should do more.

Man, Thank you so much.

I've only played the normal mode a little, just to see ravines and other features, which are quite nice. But primarily I've been playing creative, playing with features that have existed all along. I'd never really screwed around with circuitry in minecraft or pistons much as I couldn't be arsed either gathering materials or fucking with invedit all the time to get anywhere. Creative does take some getting used to (like never do anything but right click to use or you will regret it with the hyperactive leftclick, but its very good.

Loving the new way the lighting works. So far been one or two glitches, though they don't happen on smooth lighting mode (what a suprise, hes done that before) but the new red fade on light makes caves awesome.

Been fucking around with pistons creative and redstone, quite liking my creations. Not liking my video editing skills.

Someone punch Notch in the face if this mob is actually like this.

May wanna see if someone can book a flight to Sweden. :V

Also, those aren't normal cobblestone (to my knowledge). It's a special block that always has a silverfish in it. I think it's only found around strongholds...

Sure seems like a separate block indeed. This makes silverfish a little less problematic, whew.

I think those blocks will be randomly scattered within normal stone blocks. Notch did say that mining itself would be more dangerous.

I'm allready in Sweden, let's get this done! Just kidding.

Anyways, if silverfish will make nearby silverfish come out of hiding in the actual release, then mining might quickly turn into hell if you have bad luck. So let's hope that they don't.

Testing out the pre-release:
- Leveling up is a feature I could live without. After playing for just like 2 hours I can already kill most mobs without even trying. Where's the survival in that.
- Sprinting is fun and it's hunger consumption is nicely balanced.
- Only saw 2 Endermen so far, they died to rain. You can get pretty close to them too without problems, they'll only chase you if you put your crosshair right on them.
- The first time I killed a pig and it dropped several beef instead of porkchop. Weird glitch.
- The sea can get much deeper than before I think, and there's underwater caves. With dry areas inside them too! That's really cool.
- The colored lighting looks very nice.
- The furnace is severely broken though, probably because of that same new lighting. Whenever a furnace lits up or shuts down the game displays that 'saving chunks' message then crashes. I find this to be infuriating.

I had noticed for the depth of the sea ('cause I like diving instead of staying near the surface when I have to cross a river or whatever), but I didn't know about underwater caves, sounds pretty cool!
A strange feature I have in one of my worlds though, is a cave that is literally under water, I mean if you go deep enough, you just get into a waterfall and fall into the cave...
This is what I mean:

And the same place, as seen from below (maybe I should've lit the waterfall):

Oh sorry, I thought you meant an underwater entrance and then you have to resurface, while here the entrance is just a hole at the bottom of the lake  :V
However, there's not much to see except the waterfall and lavafall, because it's just a hole, nothing to explore... (EDIT: Scratch that, there are four sort of ravines meeting at some point down there, good mining opportunity)
An other interesting thing I noticed was a mountain cave, I mean the entrance was impossible to reach by foot (some 70 blocks high).

EDIT: Gotta edit this again. Cave networks are simply amazing now. You should try this seed: 2015284918655602569
underwater huge cave network entrance at X -494, Z 211 (and pit-like entrance at -463, 150 and -441, 138)
And I keep discovering new entrances in the nearby mountains. Only one thing to say: don't get lost  :D
Oh, and the underwater cave is at -72, 258.

Hey, have you found any abandned mines yet?

I'm inside one right now, it's freaking massive.
And there's a ridiculous ammount of zombies, spiders, I've even ran into an enderman in here.

And right now I'm in front of a dungeon of blue poisonous spiders.
Ohgod

e: Okay WHAT THE FUCK
A blue spider just managed to dodge lava and get past a 1-wide corridor to kill me.

Cave Spiders are also smaller than regular spiders[1][3], presumably so that they can fit through the mine shafts that they spawn in. Their exact size is 0.7x0.7x0.5.
