Hey guys, I need your help finding a picture for me.
I'm making a MIDI of "Esperanto" from rockman Zero 4, with a Touhou soundfont. I got it made, but I need to find this image of Flandre and Marisa, both in a forest. It's rare, and i've google'd bing'd Booru'd and Konachan'd it. i have no idea who the author is, nor the name of the image. all i know is that one of them is at the front, smiling while the other is worried about the stream flowing near her.

That's because there's a reason they aren't available anymore (well, FileSonic and MU aside). THFont has been discontinued (and mass-taken down) due to various (probably legal) reasons, so I wouldn't ask for or post links publicly out of respect and uh because it might be illegal at this point. You might be able to google it up somewhere, or some members probably have it lying around if you ask them for it, but we shouldn't be giving out download links, at least on MotK.

THFont, like most soundfonts out there, is illegal. You aren't missing anything though, it just doesn't sound anything like ZUN's synths, nor does it sound very good. Try something like SGM or AirFont instead.

This has been bothering me for a long time.
How are relations between The Lunar Capitol and the Outside World? I heard somewhere that the two factions had had some battles against each other. I would also like to know if there are any official works involving this topic.

Secondly, any guesses on what year the Human Village in Gensokyo is stuck in?

We're pretty sure the Human Village was sealed away in 1884 or 1885 (PoFV - 2 sixty-year cycles).

As for the Lunar Capital, I'm pretty sure there's no real information apart from the "Reisen's a refugee" backstory and how the lunar rabbits apparently tore down the flag Neil Armstrong put up.

It isn't an actual war. Humans were flying to the moon, planting flags and acting as if they "owned" the moon. Furthermore they're planning on building a moon base, and other such things. The Lunarians saw this as an act against them and decided to "go to war". Really, humanity has no idea that the Lunarians are on the moon, because of the Lunarians' barrier. The Lunarians, likewise, are unaware that the humans are unaware of their existence, and treat the lunar landings and expeditions as invasions. Nothing suggests that there was actually a battle taken place on any of the Lunar wars, despite the rabbits' claims otherwise.

The rabbits' actions, instead, were likely to tear down the flag that was left by Apollo 11. That was their "warfare". After this, Reisen escaped the Capital and came to Gensokyo. Presumably, she brought the flag, since it's currently in Kaguya's possession. The funny part is that the Lunar Capital didn't know what caused the flag to disappear, and that among other odd events caused the Capital to become suspicious for a possible traitor. Their first suspicions were the Watatsuki sisters, and this unfolding of events is what caused the second "Lunar War" that starts the events of Imperishable Night. The suspicion of the Watatsuki sisters is also part of why they later came to Gensokyo in the first place.

This makes a lot of sense. But there wasn't something floating around about Armstrong (the astronaut) actually leading an invasion on the moon?

Hmm... I appear to have left out what happened to the American flag. Maybe I put it on Eientei's page. Oh, yea, I did.

Anyways, the flag itself fell from the moon and was discovered by the three fairies of light in Oriental Sacred Place. The reasoning that Luna gave was that things fall from the moon every once in a while due to... um... I forget (Strange and Bright Nature Deity chapter 3). The validity of her reasoning can't be confirmed. Eirin later beat them up and took the flag from them (I forget where this was stated, but it came complete with a picture as Eirin was talking about it. Apparently I forgot about it despite a note in the wiki I left for myself to add that reference someday. Oh well. My best recollection is it's in one of Silent Sinner in Blue's early chapters), which is why Eientei has it now.

Most important questions bolded, since this is way too much text.
So... I figure any response to this would be mainly speculation, but maybe somebody who knows more about Zen Buddhism (and its relation to ZUN's crazy moon fixation) than me can comment. What would happen to the soul of a Lunarian if they were somehow killed without leaving the perfection of the Lunar Capital? Would they cross the Sanzu River and enter the cycle of reincarnation like everybody else? And if so, I wonder which afterlife they would get, and what sort of karma they'd carry. It seems sort of like they're "above" our idea of karma, and the escape from the impurity of life seems sort of like a simulated Nirvana, but Toyohime mentions in CoLR that Lunarians still have the faintest trace of impurity since death is a possibility for them. Does that make Higan more pure/supreme than the moon?
:blush: I feel silly asking all these questions, but I really like the idea of samsara, and the whole moon business seems like a weird sci-fi wrench in the whole thing. I guess thinking of it as a Nirvana surrogate makes a little more sense, but it's still slightly imperfect, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like Lunarians still have attachments and imperfections. And they can die. It can't be on the same level as Nirvana, so it must be in some way ultimately subordinate to the path that leads there. I'm going to stop talking out of my ass with my incredibly limited knowledge of Buddhism now. Thoughts?

I've been looking for this vocal remix of UFO Romance in the Night Sky for some time. Sometimes I'm able to find it, but sometimes I can't. I don't even remember which circle made it. All I remember is that the first few lyrics were "Twinkle o Twinkle on the star" or something like that sung in English. It's a fast-paced and rather cheerful-sounding song.

Anyone know that one? And to play it safe, sorry if asking stuff about remixes here isn't allowed...

I dunno what happens to Lunarians when they die. Probably the same thing that happens to everyone else, I suppose. Toyatsomimi does mention in Inaba of Moon and Earth (yea, I know the canonity is questionable) that ghosts aren't supposed to exist on the moon, though (in regards to the Yuyuko sightings up there) because Lunarians generally don't die, so it's probably safe to say that even though they're aware they'll die someday, not many (if any) lunarians have died yet. Beyond that though, I imagine a lot of it would have to be speculation.

I think the problem is that it's.... well, the moon. It's linked to in the locations box, and I'm pretty sure it's linked to whenever the word "Moon" is mentioned in a lot of pages. However, a lot of people simply aren't interested in clicking on a link called "the moon" cause it's... um... just the moon. XD; We see the thing every night and I guess it just doesn't have the romanticism for a lot of people that it used to (which is kinda sad, when I think about it).

A barebones page for it existed for the longest time, whereas the huge wall of text you're looking at now was created only a few months ago, and if someone didn't catch it by browsing "Recent changes" every day, there'd be no way for that someone to know it was updated. But going around waving a big flag screaming "Hey, everyone, read that huge rambly wall of text I wrote!" after updating a wiki page would probably be bad form.

The wiki sadly only scratches the surface of a lot of the official information that exists in Touhou. Understandably so, I guess, since I planned on doing something like the moon's page for a lot more pages but kinda burnt out after like... the 5th one or something. Like I said, I spent 20 hours on that thing (probably more than that). Just thinking about having to dig up all those references just to confirm that my memory was correct or to show others where the info came from gives me migraines. Although with SoPM, I really do need to go back and add that whole ZUN interview gods live on the moon thing to the appropriate pages sometime... ack.

Lunarians don't die from old age, because the moon is pure. But they can still die from other things, like being killed in combat for instance. If they die, they would most likely go to where everyone else that dies goes to, Higan and get judged there.

Who thinks that Yumeko throws swords and not knives? (when i fight against her, i always notice that they are longer than sakuya's knives.)

Btw, Yumeko is my favourite touhou maid... and i find her harder than sakuya. Poor character totally forgotten with others like Orange or Mugetsu.

I think the going offscreen thing was related to you dying just before they moved; Luna's version of that card tries to home in on your position, as I recall, so you were still respawning when it targeted you.

No clue about the sudden direction change, though.

That's also what I thought of too, but if you listened, after I died, the 3 fairies hit the border of the screen, which played the sound when they hit the screen edges, then continued moving down. Probably this is also what triggered the rest of the weird occurence later on, but you can never be sure. Anyway this happened quite a long time ago and I have since cleared Normal and Extra.

OK, so I'm writing a fiction that is not related to Touhou in any way, but I'm planning to include some basic reference to Touhou stuff, like throwing in some character names, include some reference to MoTK, or talk about Touhou cosplayers. Now, I'd like to ask if it would infringe ZUN's terms of use in any way if I use Touhou character names like that in my novels. The way that Touhou character names will be used is something like one guy in a chapter responds "my favorite character is Marisa" when another asks him who's his favorite Touhou character, or the narrator talks about what Touhou character a cosplayer is cosplaying as - in other words, it's not a fiction where Touhou characters actually make appearance, but rather it contains some reference to the Touhou fandom, that's all. I haven't seriously thought about publishing the thing, but that's why I'm asking - would it be an infringement on his terms of use if I publish the novel on paperback?

As silly as this question may sound, I'm asking this question because I'm so bad with copyright stuff, determining what would be safe to use in my fiction copyright-wise and what wouldn't be. In the light of recent events (like music from Trojan Green Asteroid being taken down from Youtube and what not) I just want to take cautionary measures before I unwittingly become a propagator of copyright infringement. I'm presuming that it may not be safe to go ahead with this, but just wanted to make sure if it's OK.

My understanding is that ZUN's basic stance is: yes, you can reference Touhou, so long as you attribute and don't go mainstream commercial with it. The recent music pull-downs were for uploading official works; not fan-made material.

Is it possible for a human to become a youkai? I was reading the Youkai page in the Touhou wiki, and I saw this:

"Alternatively, it is a common Japanese belief that after a certain amount of time, ordinary objects and animals gain life and personality, becoming a kind of youkai as well. In some cases even a normal human can become a youkai under the right conditions." - Touhou Wiki

What I am curious about is what are does 'right conditions' in where a human becomes a youkai. Any thoughts, anyone?

Alice used to be human. I would guess that learning some magic lets you do it. It's probably voluntary as well, or Mokou would have become one already.

Is there a specific list of which youkai species are reported to eat humans (or at least attempt to)?

Just wondering since it wouldn't make a lot of sense for Alice or Patchy or Byakuren to be cannibals since IIRC magician-type youkai don't get hungry (correct me if I'm wrong) and at any rate Byakuren is a strict vegetarian so short of a drastic change in personality she wouldn't be down for such horrible behavior.

On the other hand, I wonder how she would react to any plant-based youkai she came across. :V
