I've got a feeling part of Yuyuko has been inside the tree ever since she's been sacrificed to seal it.
Now if that is true, the tree will try to get Yuyuko back. Also, I think we have to decide right now whether we want to get Youmu's help or not.
I'm rather against it, considering the tree seems to have gone into overdrive and she already couldn't really handle it's aura before.
If we do it alone, I suggest letting the vines close in on us and then try stabbing them (rather than running in before we know if the knife is as effective here as it was with Yuyuko).

Stabbing a few vines probably won't make a difference. I think this is a losing battle, especially since we're not close to the tree itself.

To be honest I have no idea.

Okay then... side-stepping and bringing the Ayakashi Knife down across the vines that come at us is an acceptable form of attack. (Aka, Yukari can easily do that.)
Also bare in mind that Yukari has been seen to do a spinning kick of some sort (yes, without her gap) so she isn't as un-fit as we may think.
She can jump around a bit, but not too much; so we can still do this on our own.

So if we are going to go ahead and get closer in, repelling the vines where possible, then we need to be very careful with each and every action we do.

^^

95 meters is a lot. Plus, the vines are moving slowly, implying they can move faster. And, as far as we know there may be hundreds of them. Is this really a good idea?

That's why I'm asking you guys for thoughts.

Going back for Youmu is an idea... but do we really want to risk a Youmu death; bearing in mind she didn't take to kindly to the Ayakashi earlier?
Yes, her speed would do it. But Ayakashi Knife + Ayakashi aura = Unknown Reactions from Youmu.

MAJOR EDIT!

WE CAN F**KING FLY!!! Which is easily faster then running. Why did I forget about this!?!?!

Hm. I'd really like to go for a "reunite Yuyuko with her old self" thing, but I have absolutely no idea how we could go about that. So I guess that leaves brute force for now.
Also, if there's new vines coming out of that hole, that means we have to act fast before there's too many. I'm guessing if we were to leave this alone, the vines would eventually reach Hakugyokurou.
Waiting for the vines is out then, I guess. I propose:
> Run towards the vines, carefully watching all of their movements as well as the tree.
> Once we're close to them, side-step their attack and stab one of them, then jump backwards and get some distance between the vine and us until we can see what happens to the vine.

--cut X2

I don't think getting Youmu is a good idea. Yukari might be willing to risk Youmu's life, but if Youmu gets caught by the tree, it's quite possible the tree will get even stronger. Plus, there will be no-one to watch over Yuyuko, so the tree might be able to lure her back. In which case we would be really really fucked.

--cut by an edit:
Even better.

If I were to think of a "best" course of action at this point, it would probably be "consult Yuyuko". Problem is, we have no idea how long she'll be in this state. We don't even know why she's in it and if it's going to end magically on its own or not. I'd try looking into that but I can't find anything that will give us the answer, or lead to it.

...Maybe some books or something? Gah.

And I guess flying is an option too. I can kind of picture the tree making the vines rise, but at the very least it's going to buy us some time.

Let's just shower it with danmaku and immediately fly towards it.

So in other words...

Run a bit, vines come out to attack.
Side-step, swipe.
More vines appear.
Increase speed by flying.
Use danmaku to slow down / repel vines.
SHANK THE AYAKASHI!

Agreed or not?

Something like that. We could really go wild with this.

As in, we take it step-by-step and make up reactions in the process.

BT:
We need to know what happens to the vines if we stab them, first. If they don't die from it or even power-up because of it, finding that out when we're directly in front of the tree with all those vines around us would be very bad timing.
Also, danmaku didn't do much to the vines the last time. I doubt it's going to be more effective now.

Tamashii Kanjou: Assuming the stabbed vine dies like the ones we stabbed before, yes, I'd say that's the best course of action.

The danmaku's not meant to do anything but form some sort of distraction. At least, in theory.

Fine with this swipe-first approach.

Ok then, first part go.

> Run towards the vines, carefully watching all of their movements as well as the tree.
> Once we're close to them, side-step their attack and stab one of them, then jump backwards and get some distance between the vine and us until we can see what happens to the vine.
> If the vine immediately shrivels up like the ones before did, skip the jumping back and instead start flying towards the tree as fast as we can while evading the vines, using danmaku to hold the vines off.

Basically, it seems we don't need to hit the vines all that hard to kill them, so we can just focus on hitting as many of them as quickly as possible while moving towards our target.

I think it simply moved one of its larger branches; they can still swipe at us.

>Quick assessment!
>Are we still facing the 'heart' of the Ayakashi?
>In which direction is what coming at us?

Not saying we are going to throw it, but I'm thinking of 'what if we can't get close enough to stab it properly.'
So far so good, btw.

A note: the 'heart' may very well be what the tree has from Yuyuko. We might want to cut it free and take it rather than stab it.Stabbing the rest of the tree, of course, is fair game.
