So here's Paper's attempt at serious fan art... for the first time ever.

So I got markers, a pen, and a reference picture.
I then proceeded to randomly draw with a pen and artistically color the shit out of it, just like all those fancy digital artists do.

This was your first try? I'm impressed, mainly because that's way better then my first attempt to draw something.

Nazrin's right arm looks longer than her left; or maybe it's just me. Other than that, it looks awesome.

I think it's great fanart. :3

Her right arm is longer because its closer to the viewer I think...although, her hand could maybe be little bit bigger to insinuate that :3
(Although, honestly, it looks just fine as it is.)

I get what you mean. If her arm was meant to be foreshortened towards the viewer, then I think it should be a little shorter as well as her hand being a tad bigger.

This is my 3d Okuu but with textures now. This took me longer than it should have, but Christmas and stuff.

EDIT: I am now working on a Reimu model. I put more detail into Reimu than Utsuho, like for example I actually made the frills in her clothes and I'm still adding a few more details on Reimu. I might need to improve Utsuho's model some other time.

EDIT 2: Update on Reimu, this is what I have with textures so far

Also, clothing could use some more texture.

Quick questions - what format are the models in, and which program are you using? Oh, and is there skeleton / IK joint rigging as well...?

I know, I just cant quite fix them, I can try to fix them in ZBrush if I could find out what to change to make them look better.

I'm terrible at texturing because I'm just terrible at painting in photoshop. I've been trying to find texturing tutorials but all I find is just the simplest of stuff, not techniques to make it look good. Maybe I should look at techniques in 2d painting.

Im using ZBrush first, then I lower the polycount with Topogun and work with the rest in Maya. As for skeleton/IK joints, Maya has them but I'm still don't know how to use them well. I still haven't started my rigging class.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm gonna try to improve in those areas. Gonna see if I can make the heads look better

EDIT: How's this? I was trying to make her look like this drawing I made a some time ago rather than using no reference, but I think I might need to work on it some more. I just want to know if you guys think it's better or at least not 'off-putting'

Well, I think adding light noise to the textures and then smoothening them would be a good idea.

That makes more sense, but going by the models vs. the reference image, I'd say that style clashing between the faces and the rest of the model is more the issue.

Well, I'll probably end up drawing a lot of Touhou characters, so that's... A lot of trolls. Just look at those Touhou+Homestuck posts Littleshrimp made. So many trolls.
Think I'll just do sessions for each game.
