Minoriko is probably the closest we have to a scarecrow as of now.  According to Touhou Wiki, "ZUN likened her to a Japanese one-legged scarecrow " due to her right foot drawn to look like a left foot.

I think it would be interesting to see a werewolf girl. There's hardly any female werewolves in most Western myths, so it would definitely be something new.

 As a fan of mythical creatures in general, I have a lot of creatures I'd like to see. But to pick out a few... hmm, komainu (those lion-dog statues in front of shrines) spring to mind, perhaps as a brother-and-sister duo or twin sisters. A kamaitachi would also be cool, though I'm not sure what power she'd have since "manipulation of wind" is taken.
 Also, I agree that we're really, really overdue for a tanuki in the main games. Though if mythology holds true, they're probably all too drunk and broke to care about danmaku.  :V

Ginger Snaps more than makes up for that lack, though.  Also re: Koa being a succubus... I think of her more like an imp than anything else. >.> But apparently that's just me.

Actually, y'know what I'd like to see?  Touhous based on the Fair Folk.  Not those silly, weak little fairies of modern times, the old ones of folklore that went on to provide the inspiration for the word "eldritch".  I wanna see Redcaps and Sidhe, Changelings and Boggarts, Pixies, Pucks, Robin Goodfellow, that kind of stuff.  Hell, a Touhou game where the final boss was a double battle against Oberon and Titania would be pretty damn awesome and something I'd love to see~

I agree, given how those two are beastly in the SMT universe, it'd make sense for them to be equally epic in the Touhou universe.
Of course, the fact that they're royalty among the fair folk likely accounts for why they are.

Up until the demo for Ten Desires, I would have said that a Jiangshi Touhou is in order.

Now I'm thinking that maybe more Jiangshis, like an army of them  a Dhampir Touhou might be a neat idea.  Maybe some long lost half-sister of Remilia, returning to gain custody of Flandre.

I rekon my tastes are considered boring and bandwagonish. But yeah, I'd like a goth loli too, also, after seeing many styles of anime/manga style characters lately, I've decided that I like em with twin tails (hair, not bum tail).

A Knight loli would also be fun, I'd like to see Zun design a feminine and attractive suit of armor for her, it's Zun, so he wont resort to stripperific like so many other designers, so... yeah, I'd like to see it.

It would actually be interesting to work with story-wise, too: imagine the idea that bees are becoming prominent in Gensokyo because they're disappearing in the outside world.

Well, Perfect memento DOES mention the possible existence of ninja in the bamboo forest of the lost, and that Mokou might be involved with them. So it's a possibility.
