Winter's not starting for me even though my DS is in April and I haven't touched the system clock since last year. Is there some event I have to trigger first?
I just walked into another area and it switched to Winter.

Apparently, Thomas the Tank Engine isn't one to take crap from anyone.

Don't forget to get Icirrus City's RageCandyBar (which is only accessible in the winter)!
And now you can get that rare candy near the pokemon fan club too! :V

I'm running into way too many awesome pokemon, and I can't choose.

Serperior
Gigalith
Fraxure
Excavalier
Concolder
Archeops

And I'm currently working on that levitating Eel, a litwick, and trying to hatch that bug/fire type. Heck, I already forgot I was raising a Gothorita, and I'm really looking forward to getting that dark-dragon type.

Any suggestions on how to choose 6?

P.S. I also found out that candles breed with eels. Science!

:o :o :o

I don't like that bird. Its ability hinders it too much. Nor do I like Gigalith due to its speed. Its ability is very nice though.

So the stat berries like Leichi and Salac are unobtainable in B/W...

And yet the Battle Subway dudes have them :wat:

Looking over the two, I have to wonder why everyone seems to pick Archon over Tirtouga. Archeops is a speedy glass cannon, yes, but its ability clips its wings super-freaking hard. Carracosta, on the other hand, has nice defenses (and even better special defense if you can pull off a Sandstorm), along with very nice attack-- and its weakness is obviously its low speed and double weakness to grass. Still, it has Sturdy to protect from getting OHKO'd, or Solid Rock to take the edge off those super-effective attacks. On top of that, it gets Shell Smash, which lowers Defense and Sp. Def one stage, but is the equivalent of Swords Dance, Nasty Plot, and Agility/Rock Polish all in one move (also the option of Curse if you don't want to take that risk). It's more versatile overall, and can easily work as a glass cannon or a slow, heavy tank. I want to raise one. :S

I did a blind runthrough, so I picked Archon by accident :derp:

Archeops - You hit, you kill then you switch out (unless it doesn't even scrape a hit). 1 turn sweeper, Tirtouga can get beat up pretty easily in the first turn. Then a switchout makes stuff a lot worse. But it's pretty much that if you want a tank you get a Cofagrigus. People tend to perfer a phys sweeper, since gen 5 is filled with spec-sweepers and incredibly slow pokemon. But yeah, Tirtouga in terms of straight out confrontation is better, but doesn't fit into a team as well as a speed-phys does (the only real alternative being an Excadril, but that's really OU).

Mrrr. Even then, in the same vein of using something better, if I wanted something like Archeops, I'd think that I'd use the more solid Aerodactyl, which lacks Defeatist and a bit of movepool versatility, but is faster and still able to dish out the damage at the same time. If only it could learn Head Smash or Brave Bird...

Ahh...Aerodactyl tension/unnerve lead. Basically screwing over any berry leads. I prefer Archeops because even though Aerodactyl is faster and can survive longer, Archeops + Flight Jewel pretty much gurantees a KO within the first few turns. Even if defeatist does activate, the first attack would have been enough to render the opponent's pokemon as dead (unless it missed, which is the concern but not that big).

Hey, we can't make it thaaaat OP. There's a reason why Archeops doesn't have Rock Head. XD

I'm not exactly looking for a competitive team, so much as trying to narrow down my in-game enough to get all the evolutions I want before the elite four. Leveling up some of these pokemon to their final forms in time might not be an option, especially if I don't pick and choose a bit.

If I were being competitive, I'd probably go with something similar to Tyranitar, Garchomp, Metagross, Salamence, Ferrothorn, and Latios (mind you this team is completely illegal on smogon but fine most other places). Ferrothorn for bulky waters, and Latios (or maybe Latias) for those pesky Infernape and other fire/fighting types.

So sturdy doesn't really come into play, and I can usually 1HKO whatever I switch Archeops into, or switch out when I can't. I'm mostly trying to decide what would be fun.

So while derping around on Pokemon-Online with my hastily-prepared team, I fought some person named Madotsuki with an all-Touhou-nicks team like twice. (They forfeited both times.) This is one of you guys, isn't it?

Sketch? Splash?
Kiddo, back in my day we used Harden/Defense Curl.

Has anyone actually leveled a Pokemon to 100 without rare candies?
I have, and I was all the more powerful for it.

I've always used Candies in Gen IV. Blame my Emerald for that. Didn't see the point to manually do it after all the Pokemon gained all its EVs.

For Gen V, I might just leave them at 50 (if applicable. I'm looking at you, Hydreigon and Volcarona!) and use the feature to auto bump them to 100 in battles.
