what is the black one? I don't recall a weapon exploding heads.
Headshot on a Demoman? I actually have no idea, didn't even see that one.

If the laser sentry makes its victims bounce around the map upon shot, it's okay

I heard it was the first headshot icon for the Ambassador

Aww, I was just coming here to post this. :ohdear:

I don't see the purpose though, sentry bullets are already instant to hit when they're fired.  Unless it's a trip wire or something, which'd be so blatantly obvious it'd be useless compared to an actual sentry for defense.

lasers are cool  8)
Probably a more damaging/sets people on fire/faster firing level 1 sentry for the PDQ.
or something

Laser could very well be a longer-range sentry with a slightly longer warmup time.

finally got me a backburner
it only took a few months

I can actually ambush people as pyro in arena again!

EDIT: it still isn't good enough to take over the original flamethrower, though. Only for arena.

Wow, some DH Soldiers have ridiculously bad aim. I just saw one who couldn't hit a level 1 sentry... 5 feet in front of him. His medic even had to hit uber so he doesn't die.

The DH is something you absolutely have to use custom crosshairs with. It's not too hard to hit stuff so I don't know how people can be so bad with it.

Re: Team Fortress 4

DH kills more stuff with the blast damage than head-on explosions.

Which is sad, because it really shouldn't work that way.

I don't even get why people use the DH.  Rockets kill anything in 2 hits up close anyway, even with the mini-crit airshot on the DH considered, and at long range the DH's falloff is so severe that it does less damage than rocket splash damage.  And on that note, the RL actually does splash damage.

Only use I've found for the direct hit is giving me something to reflect that the soldier will definitely not dodge. BV

People in competitive play have, with no exception I've seen so far, gone back to all standard unlocks, except for the Equalizer, the Bonk and the Kritzkrieg. Unlocks really need some changes, not seeing them around at all in this game type makes me sad.

Not quite true, unlocks are generally too specific to use normally though.  I've seen the FaN, Jarate, Huntsman, Ubersaw, Backburner, Flare Gun, Axtinguisher, Sword'n'Board (not post-nerf), Sandvich, KGB, Ambassador, Buff Banner, and DR used by top-tier teams at some point.

Yes, I wasn't quite clear with that. All medic unlocks are used, especially Blutsauger and Ubersaw, they're so ingrained in the concept of playing nobody even notices anymore. Pretty much like the Axtinguisher is. Jarate you'll only ever see if situation calls for a sniper, but they usually stick to headshotting. Buff banner never seen, direct hit is being snobbed, the FaN is extremely situational and few scouts sacrifice the chance to hit 6 times. This, at least, in div 5-6 and 4, somewhat.

I'm pretty sure you'd see the buff banner/jarate/sandvich used more in top tier teams. Buff banner is pretty much a mini-kritz to your team. It can make a difference. Sandvich seems better than the shotgun now that the heavy has a faster spin-up time on his minigun.

Actually, I think the spin-up time on the minigun more or less equals the time it takes to switch out your shotgun now. :V

I said DR, not DH. :V

Anyway, I haven't seen a Blutsauger since the "-2 HP/sec" effect was added.  That means 40 needles/minute to keep up with syringe gun's passive regen.  And FaN I wasn't specific on, but I've only seen it in places where Pyros are used for airblasting (Gravelpit C, Badlands, etc).

Hmmm, maybe the Laser!Sentry is a Sentry with a sniper scope that has a higher firing delay, slow firing shots and only a small field of coverage but in exchange gets powerful shots with a high range that can headshot you if you stand still in it's view. That would also explain the new headshot symbol.

God I'm dreading the engy update. Chances are people will start playing him even more than they do now, even in arena, meaning that playing Scout will become a pain for some time...

Maybe it would be like Tribes 2's sniper rifle, where even a fully charged headshot isn't enough for a kill.  :V
