> Head back inside to the kitchen to clean up the stuff we just used.

>"Righto," says Meiling. "I'm not going anywhere for awhile."
>You head back inside, and see that trio of maids have begun to sweep in the main hall. They do their best to look busy when step in; they don't seem guilty enough to be up to anything bad. At worst, they probably weren't working quite as fast or hard as they could have been. You anticipate that when giving out assignments, so it's not worth bothering with until they start to push it.
>Returning to the kitchen, you clean off the teacups, tea pot, and saucer that you use. It takes perhaps a couple minutes at most.

>You put the dishes away, and make your back to the front doors. As you do, you note the maids seem a bit more high-strung, paying too much attention to their work and trying to act like they hadn't noticed you come in. This is a good reason to interrogate them, something is up. Then you hear sound of a short-legged person running in the opposite corridor from the one you emerged, and it all comes together.

> How do we normally stop such mischief?

>Almost certainly, you recognize the cadence of those steps. No wonder the maids were nervous; not only are many of them frightened of her (unreasonably so, but not that unreasonably), but they do not want to get caught between having to fess up to you, or keep the Young Mistress' secrets from you.
>Most of the time, you can just find and chastise her. Other times she gets willful, especially if she thinks that Marisa is around.

>Go find her quickly ! Use the sound to orientate on where she is and is headed.

>It sounds like she is, or at least was, in the western wing corridor. That would lead into the maid quarters, which makes up a sizable part of the mansion, given how much staff Mistress likes to keep onhand.

> Once we can tell we are close, step outside time and close the rest of the distance.

>You head into the western corridor, and get just a glimpse of a red dress disappearing up the stairs.
>You step outside of time, and the world turns gray. There is a slight pressure inside your chest, but it is nothing to worry about at the moment. If you step outside for too long, it will become a fierce ache. You've not been unwise enough to go any further than that. The corridor itself is decorated with dull red carpeting, and the odd silk banner on the walls. That aside, there are just a few comparatively cheap landscape paintings; some of Remilia's more mechanical works. Nothing too valuable. It is easy enough to close the rest of the distance and find Flandre, frozen as she seeks to climb the third step.

>You walk around her, take position on a landing, and return into time's flow.
>Flandre scrambles up several more stairs before you she is able to stop herself and reassess things, the look of surprise on her face is priceless. She must have thought she got away. "Uh...nuts," she says.

> Quietly follow her, making sure she does end up getting back to bed.

>You follow her back into the main hall; the faeries there do their best to suddenly look very busy after clearly listening in as well as they could.  Flandre makes her way back to the door under the second floor balcony, pushes it open, and descends down the long stairway. You follow her down to the bottom, some dozens of feet down. Her room is covered with a large, soft carpet, dominated by a four-poster bed, and a huge chest full of toys both native and from outside. Blessedly, the latter is cleaned up for the time being; it can get dreadfully messy at times. Flandre crawls back under the covers, grumbling to herself.

> What she might have been going for, coming this way?

>That's a good question. Perhaps she intended to visit, or terrorize, the off duty maids?
