(You're up super early today. Something wrong?)

> Assistant? Who's that?

(Nah, I'm just in London right now so I'm way ahead.)

> Beats you. You assume she's an assistant with how much time she spends around the shop - she's been there every time you've gone to Kourindou, usually fussing over the books. She's one of the weirder-looking youkai you've seen. Who has a wing on the back of their head?

> How tall is she?

> Nope. It's pretty confusing, especially because she's already got two regular wings. What's the third one for? Decoration?
> You don't have any exact figures, but if you had to estimate you'd say she was a little taller than Marisa. That could just be distortion from proximity to Kourin, though. He's taaaaall.

"Okay Daiyousei, we gotta find something they'l' like. Tell me if you find something good."

> Daiyousei nods. "O-okay. I'll keep my eye out." She frowns. "I-I don't really know what they like, though..."
> The bell jingles cheerily as the two of you enter. Kourin looks up at you two, a friendly smile on his face.
> "Welcome! How may I..." He trails off. "Oh. You're...fairies." He says the word 'fairies' in the same tone of voice as someone might say the word 'arsonists'. His smile falters, then morphs into a stern expression. "Now listen here, you two, I'll warn you right now we've got precautions against theft here in Kourindou, so if you try anything, you'll be caught and out on your ear faster than you can say 'half-off sale on all Outside World gadgets'." He leans forward. "Got that?"

> How's that assistant taking our presence?

> The assistant seems to be too engrossed in Principia Mathematica to really pay you any attention. This may be a good thing, considering the reception you got from Kourin. Sure is tough being a fairy sometimes.

>"Theft? Oh yeah, we need money for stuff in here!"
>"Keep looking for something good Daiyousei, I'll be right back"
>Daiyousei: Browse wares timidly
>We gotta get some of the moneys from our home, so let's fly there.

> "W-wait, you're leaving me here? By m-m-myself?" Daiyousei does not look happy about this turn of events, but before she can object further, you're out the door and off to your home. You're not worried. She'll be fiiine. Probably.
> The flight is a long one, as previously mentioned, so you have a long time to think and reflect on what sort of thing you want to get for the trio and take stock of the weather. It's currently midmorning - the sun is firmly above the horizon, but it hasn't yet hit its zenith. The sky is clear for now, but there's an ominous gathering of clouds in the distance that suggests a storm could be on its way. From up here, you can't see anything out of the ordinary going on. As far as you can tell, it's just another day in Gensokyo.
> Just another day except for the unfamiliar figure floating in the air above the forest, that is.

>Eh, ignore it, we need to get our money and get back to Daiyousei and get the thing for the fairies first.

> Enh. Not like you don't see people floating above the forest every day. Literally everyone can fly, after all. You zoom past the figure, summarily ignoring them. They, in turn, barely spare you a passing glance, before returning their gaze to the sky and the vague, shimmering outline of the Hakurei Barrier beyond.
> Soon enough, you're back at your igloo, ready to get your money and head back to Kourindou!
>Wait.
>...where do you keep your money again?

>Examine the interior of our house.

> Well, yes, obviously, but you don't remember where that is. You remember being proud because you could only get to it by freezing stuff, but other than that...
> The inside of your house isn't much fancier than the outside. You've got your ice bed, your ice nightstand, your ice table and chairs, your ice ice - wait, no, scratch that last one. It's certainly not as swanky as Daiyousei's but you make do. Fancy furniture is for pansies anyway.

> Not likely. For one, you can't breathe underwater, and for two, you're not entirely sure how freezing things would help in that situation. Maybe like an ice tunnel or something? There'd still be water in the middle, though...

> Ooh, you should use that as a comeback sometimes.
> With this cheering thought in your mind, you head to the waterfall.
> Dang, you'd forgotten how strong this thing was. The river's a pretty decent size, so the waterfall is also quite formidable, despite it being relatively short in height. It roars loud enough to be heard from impressively far away. You'd hate to try and plunge straight through this thing.
