I'm curious, what do you guys use to play your precious Toehoes with?

I'm using this Logitech Gamepad whose digipad really works wonders. Easy, fluid movements in all eight directions and very responsible. Before that, I used to use SNES controllers but due to their apparent nature of having a lousy dpad (in a good month, three controller pads wore out one after another), I decided to give this gamepad a try before wasting an unnecessarily huge sum on a gaming keyboard that allows multiple key presses at the same time (plus there's like 2 years warranty on this thing so I should be set for the next time).

My laptop keyboard unfortunately doesn't allow for multitasking so I had to start out with a controller from the get-go, now I can't imagine using a keyboard at some point either, now that I'm so used to dpads.

What about you?

Edit: If you want a Logitech gamepad with a good d-pad, I would recommend the Logitech Precision Gamepad. It's no longer in production (might have to shop in the used sections), but it definitely lasts a lot longer than the newer Dual-Action/F-Series pads.

Keyboard, along with the Vjoy program so I can reassign the keys to avoid the wiring issues you'd expect (you know, the kind that prevents you from going diagonally left while firing focused, that sort of thing).

keyboard with tiny arrow keys.
conveniently shift z x c and the arrow keys never lock up my keyboard.

Keyboard. Laptop to be precise, the keys are easier to press than on a standard keyboard anyway. I might have remapped the keys if I knew how when I first started since I prefer using my left hand for movement, but I got used to the controls before I bothered searching for a program for that, so default controls. Never had any problems with multiple keys pressed at once.

Playstation 3 controller. It's awesome though I remember I had so much rage trying to set up the driver installs but I'm good. Back then I used a keyboard and even use it today randomly when I don't know I'm using it.

That is freaking awesome, but I'm happy with my keyboard, though it may lock up. A lot.

Laptop keyboard, usually. Only real complaint is that I can't stack buttons onto Escape, so I can't pause while doing anything at all.

Laptop keyboard, default controls. I can't imagine playing with a controller. Sanae's last nonspell at 90fps would be a pain in the ass.

But... I like using my old SNES controller and I originally got the connector to use it with emulators anyway, but now I use this stuff for Touhou. :derp:

Keyboard.

To the extent that one of the requirements for buying a new laptop or keyboard is explicitly that no locking or ghosting occurs with Shift-Z-X-C-Ctrl-Arrows and that they're of sufficient size. Even moreso, to the extent that I am in the void phase between planning and building an arcade stick that operates not with a stick, but with mechanical keyswitches that are placed in positions accurate to a keyboard. I could probably make do with a gamepad if a particularly nice one fell into my possession, or an actual stick at that, but as of now there isn't anything I feel comfortable playing with.

I once tried SA Lunatic with an SNES controller. Barely passed stage 1 :V

I use a keyboard. One that doesn't have the up and down buttons half the size of a normal key, and one that doesn't ghost when I try to move diagonally while focused, mind you.

I could never play a bullet hell with a mouse. I praise people who can (but they're probably not playing Touhou or Cave stuff anyway, lol). It's impossible to micrododge anything with your hand jerking all over the place.

I feel very comfortable with my 10 years old keyboard.

I tried an Xbox controller when I was new to Touhou, but it was impossible to micro-dodge with this thing.

Both of these. Playing with anything other than a keyboard is rather uncomfortable for me.

This. Originally got it for 360 STGs but it's just so good that I use it for everything these days.
