Someone sold all 5 series of PC-98 Touhou at auction.  The price has been concluded to 450,000 yen.

1 Floppy disk ~ 17g
17g of pure gold (24 karat) ~ $644

$729 (Touhou) > $644 (gold)

Touhou is officially now more expensive than pure gold.

Well, this is unexpected.  :V

Usually I monitor Yahoo! Auctions for PC-98 Touhou stuff all the time, so I'm surprised that I didn't see this auction until now.

The funny this is, I've seen PC-98 Touhou games individually sell for much, much higher prices than this (not all on YA, though). 

Touhou is officially now more expensive than pure gold.

Wow, I don't know how to feel about that  . The physical floppies (standard PC-98 formatted floppies) themselves are worth only around $10 new in the packaging. Hopefully the guy who won the bid backs them up soon, cause I've noticed a lot of descriptions on YA of PC-98 floppy-based software state that the disks are corrupted due to age.


I wonder if ZUN has seen any of these PC-98 Touhou auctions before. They might be enough to convince him to someday release the PC-98 games as freeware or something.  :V

Somehow, I am not surprised at Touhou being more expensive than precious metals.
