Team Fortress 4

Got the pun? Good.

On topic:

Yay to the Pyro buffs. I don't play the class much, but yay anyways.  :3

@hyorinryu: I was speaking in relation to how the Pyro was initially.  Back when the damage could fall off all the way to 1 damage per particle, and your melee/secondary weapons were unable to give you guaranteed crits.  And no airblast, too.  Basically like a BB-shotgun-fire axe loadout now, except with less damage and no back crits.

So I guess there are some new weapons and hats?

http://www.tf2items.com/allitems.php

Sweet the drill sergeant hat is now official. I use that as a gibus replacement looks like I'll have to find a new one.

Also incoming flood of threads on valve forums about how the hats don't match the tf2 universe.

The new weapons are pretty lackluster imo.

Poison knife is okay but not something I would stick on a sniper.
Battleaxe OHKOs anything besides a heavy on a crit, but it makes you too slow.

All of the sniper weapons seem to be designed to get him out of the battlements. Aside from the useless razorback.

New weapons are pure garbage, end of story.

Hats are meh for the most part, but I lol'd so hard when I saw "Nothing." in the description for the goggles. BV

I think the reason they gave the Heavy a bandana was because of this

Slot Token... Grenade?
Almost as old as crafting.  I'm fairly certain they wisened up and decided against reimplementing grenades (the models actually exist in-game) and won't end up implementing them.

Indeed TF2 has enough floor spam already for the need of generic grenades.

Just got back from playing for the first time since the update though I would've played longer if the update didn't completely destabilize the game again.  Current thoughts:

-New Pyro hat is awesome.
-New Pyro is awesome.
-Shiv is giving me the mindset that I can rush snipers without needing to worry about getting killed by melee crits; so far that's just getting me killed by kukri snipers.
-Axe is lol.  There's nothing else to it.

Axe would be good if it gave speed back as you got kills with it. e.g. eyelander. Might be a little overpowered though.  :V
Right now it's inferior to normal demomen/chargin' tard swordsmen because the speed debuff is just too major. Can't run away, can't chase.

Apparently my mind has reality warping powers, because I thought of an alternate Sniper melee weapon that was pretty much exactly like the Shiv about a week ago.

Not having tested it, the axe seems like crap. Unless the demo gets reduced damage from stickyjumping (and he won't), the mobility loss seems far too huge a drawback.

Also: I want the new demo hat.  :3

Wasn't sure if this should go in the "project" forum since it's Touhou-related or here since it's TF2-related.
Anyway, I made a gameplay video for my TF2 map:

When I think that I started to work on a SDM map quite a year ago ?3?

I think there should be an Arathi Basin-esque game mode. Like king of the hill, but with several control points. The more points you control the faster your timer goes down.

Who agrees?

What's wrong with the cubemaps in the video/screenshots?

Re: Team Fortress 4
« Reply #25 on: May 22, 2010, 06:16:08 PM »
ah, cp_scarlet. It was done by Kirameki. He has been doing maps for a long time, but his SDM is basically different:
While I went with the objective to make a map of the SDM and adapt it to TF2, he went with the objective to create a TF2 map  and make it look like the SDM.
I believe my choice was better though.

Also T34G3 to solve the Engine Hunk Overflow error (and you're the 99th who didn't read the installation instruction, so don't worry) just add "+r_hunkalloclightmaps 0" to TF2's lauching parameters.

Yeah, that's because it Well's water. the cubemaps don't match well with it.
2fort's water don't have this problem, but I needed a clear water, not a muddy one.
