I always have to wonder, if you're a qualified VA, reading such incredible shit, do you at any point consider pointing out that the stuff is shit?

Part 2 - Big Mother Is Watching You

I'm gonna take this chance to ask for some opinions. After Stuff's comment earlier I asked around a little and there was a general vibe that this game may not have been interesting enough to warrant a full LP. Now that there's a second part out I want to ask - do people want to see the rest of this game? We're about half way through by now, if the act-select screen is any indication.

Rou, I will read anything you LP.

Even games that are meritless piles of fish alien shit.

BUT OH MY GOD.  Who the fuck wrote this game.  Who the fuck paid for art assets and voice acting and probably also music and argh it's completely awful

Anyway, if you think there is still comedy to be squeezed from this miserable husk of a VN, I'm all for it.

Who else? Kickstarter.

And I'm actually working through the game more right now! I'm squeezing some fun out of it myself, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one. :V

I've actually played through Nekopara! The entire last scene of that game left me screaming to the high heavens because it was so awful and I don't want to play through it again please don't do that to me ;;

Spoiler:
and I tried Huniepop too before you ask, but that game is actually unbelievably dull once you get past its blatant sexism

Maybe it is just me, but I found your commentary to be very funny.

If you thinking of future VNs, take a look at Sunrider.
The dialogue parts aren't amazing; I mostly like it for the great tactical gameplay.
But hey, it's a free space opera story that doesn't suck.

OK I figure I owe these responses at least.

SAKURA SPIRI*shot*
Amra and I tried to play through this around Christmas time last year. It's actually extremely boring besides the obvious fanservice anime art! I don't think I could make an interesting LP for it.

Planeterian is a game I dislike on its genre alone. I played through the first fifteen minutes and I'm relatively sure I could tell you how the whole thing ends just from that. It was edgy and angsty and I didn't want to play any further.

Fault Milestone One is actually the only one of these games I haven't played yet. I avoided it for a while because it's episodic and I hate episodic games about as much as I hate crowdfunding (WHERE'S THE OTHER 40% OF MY GAME, KENTUCKY ROUTE ZERO? WHERE IS IT?)
That said, it's on sale right now and it actually looks pretty good, so maybe I'll give it a whack.

Sunrider did not impress me. The characters were flat, and I wasn't taken in by the gameplay at all. Not to mention the thing is about as well-optimised as the travelling salesman problem.

Thanks for the suggestions, and apologies for shooting down a lot of them! I'll upload the second half of Bermuda later today. Trust me when I say that if the first half of the game was relatively dull, this is where the game turns into something you'd expect from one of my LPs. :P

I've actually done plenty of looking through the VNs on Steam myself. Thanks for the offer though.

Anyway, the rest of this LP is going to gush out at once. Brace yourselves, because you are not prepared.

according to the kickstarter, $500 went to voice acting
and then that's split with 6 voice actors
so each person was paid less than a hundred for their work (and some of these people are even professionals)
no wonder they didn't sound like they were giving a shit :V

To be fair though, according the the page, the creator intended to take none of the actual kickstarter money for himself (of the 2k), so I'm not sure if your criticism of money affecting the quality of the work really applies in this case.
It's more likely the quality would be the same regardless of how much the campaign got :V

meanwhile all of this is just chump change compared to sakura spirit making a million dollars just for putting boobs on steam :colonveeplusalpha:

Seriously, for less then $100 how did he even get people to show up?

Meanwhile how did he manage to have such shit art for 4k worth of money?  I mean, I believe in paying artists, but they had like 2 expressions per character?  How?

It says $1000 went to art

I'm assuming everything is commissioned, so take the number of art pieces and divide $1000 by it for the cost per commission.

Just briefly going through Rou's LP stuff, I very roughly count around 50ish different art items (including different characters, poses, sprites, and backgrounds but not including things like text and UI) so that's like 20$ per piece. Not really that bad actually as far as commission rates go.

I think the poor distribution of assets is what makes it look like there's so little. Like for all the dialogue no one makes any different facial expressions, but then later on when shit hits the fan there's a whole bunch of full pose art.

The real mystery is how he spent $500 on the trailer

I double checked and I think it's closer to 40 myself (they reuse a lot of pics, and they've got a whopping 3 backgrounds, two of which look to be stuff you can grab for free) but that's still a reasonable $25 a pic.  You're right.  The poor distribution of assets is the problem.  For example: THEY HAVE A NEUTRAL POSE FOR MUKAN.  All that shit with her brandishing her sword all the damn long game was unneeded.  But they use it in one meaningless chat shot, and then never touch it again for some reason.  It was in their hands, and they chose to be dumb instead.

Still wondering how they got the VAs to even show up for less then $100.  (And it'd be a lot less then $100 unless they mailed in Skype recordings.)

Man, that was bad before the game turned into a grimdark Jesus-Loves-You morality tale featuring a two-bit villain who can breathe underwater, and decides the best way of killing herself is drowning.
