Speaking of danmaku's nonlethality...

How in hell does Mokou literally DIE whenever you clear any one of her spell cards?  Danmaku and Spell Card Rules were created to overcome this, weren't they?

Rule of Cool, I guess?  I mean, she does die and resurrect spectacularly every time you clear a spell card. :V  With most bosses, you only get to see a spectacular explosion like that at the very end of the battle.

Or, maybe she would normally be just a very weak human with the ability to create fire, but with her resurrections, she can overexert herself to death multiple times to become Extra mode powerful.

Mokou stops fighting because of pain, right? But technically, the pain should vanish everytime she resurrects into a new body.

Pain still sucks, even if it goes away a few minutes later. Put yourself in her shoes for a bit - if you met someone and they just kept killing you no matter how many times you resurrected, you'd eventually just give up too.

Also, I just noticed how lazy ZUN is with spell card backgrounds, especially early on. Patchy's in EoSD is just a 256x256 scrolling stained-glass window texture that doesn't even wrap properly.

Regarding Byakuren's mysterious gradient hair, I now realize/think that the brown hair was part of her regular human hair, and the purple hair is her new youkai hair that slowly grew out after she became immortal. She just never bothered to cut off the old brown part.
