According to an article in gamesindustry, all Capcom has left in the bank is a mere $152 million. That may seem like a ton of cash, but for a AAA Video Game developer, especially going into a new console generation, that really isn't that much. And you're left to wonder how much of that warchest of theirs has shrunk in the past decade.

And Capcom's solution to their financial situation? More in-house games (yay?) and more DLC ( :flamingv: ).

IMHO, how much longer is it before Capcom enters a THQ-like tailspin into the ground? And, to show how pathetically little the 152 million is, Rockstar's GTA5 had a production cost of approximately $250 million.

That's kinda sad, but this is what they get when they neglect one of their best franchises. :V I do hope they recover soon, I know they're not the best developer/publisher, but their presence is pretty significant.

Shame. I like a lot of Capcom's game titles. Just wish their business decisions were as good as their games.

Because if we're lucky it means that they or their franchises will be bought by people who will actually do something----fuck I just pictured Hideki Kamiya buying back the rights to Devil May Cry in order to make a DMC & Bayonetta Crossover. Also buying Viewtiful Joe. So he can make VJ3. Fuck fuck fuck I want this hhhh.

I feel a little strange that this has somehow become Best Case Scenario that a company I've had a long and fulfilling relationship throughout my gaming career with should give up the ghost.

EDIT: Okami was released in 2006 and published via Capcom, so let's throw that extra year in there.

I stopped caring about Capcom when they canceled Legends 3. I almost cared a little bit when I heard about a new Breath of Fire, but then I saw that was on a phone and I somehow cared even less then I did before. I like went into negative caring.

Anyway, I'm with Mats and Suika, I'd love if Inafune bought MegaMan.

Do keep in mind that these numbers are bit old. Keep also in mind that Monster Hunter was released like five days ago and that series sells. I mean, these charts show Monster Hunter 4 being top of the sales. And not only that, but they revealed Monster Hunter Frontier G coming to PS Vita. So if anything, Capcom might be saved for now.

GS/SA Upswing would be infuriating in Smash.

Sengoku Basara isn't very big outside of Japan, so that's about all I'd worry about (since most of the other good series would be picked up by someone). It's still too early for anything though, probably have to wait a year or two.

It may sell systems... in Japan.

But you can clearly see how high of priority both Sony and MS have with the Japanese market with the release dates of the 8th gen consoles.

The only recent Capcom game that I give a shit about is Ace Attorney 5. A few exceptions like Monster Hunter, Dragon's Dogma, RE:Revelations are decent, but everything else have been piles of shit.

For comparison's sake, NRS is going to release Injustice Ultimate Edition for the PS4 (and other platforms) on the 12th of November. The PS4 officially comes out the 15th.

They can't even PORT a game to next gen? Wow. that's fucked. How are they supposed to develop anything new? If I was them I'd start cranking out some 3DS titles for some low-budget cashflow.

Yeah, I was about to say that MH4 is selling like hotcakes right now. It's a surprise, but maybe the company is just so big that they need more than 1 good franchise to save them now.

It may be selling like hotcakes in Japan. For the rest of the world, the series is practically unheard of.

I would be most worried about what would happen to Capcom's horror series. I would want Resident Evil and Clock Tower to be picked up by someone who would make good use of them. I'm still waiting for another Clock Tower game after all and I'm not willing to admit that may never happen.
