Head Tilts and Close-ups: Nisemonogatari Thread
« on: February 14, 2012, 07:15:55 AM »

NOW WHERE HAVE I SEEN THIS BEFORE?

Let's talk about your favorite head tilts, wordplays, references, characters, seiyuu, or what have you.

Episode 6 had some great stuff, can't believe we're already halfway through. All that
Spoiler:
personality
from Senjougahara was great. And that last dialog between Tsukihi and Arararararagi was pretty clever, referring back to the previous conversation that they had in an earlier episode. Also, loving Shinobu's screen time so far. Dat voice makes all giddy inside. Her manner of speech is awesome, it really contrasts with her appearance so well.

Yes. To everything. It is incredible how this series tops greatness in every new episode.

I think I like this more than Bakemonogatari. Even with the silly dialogue here and there, the main story is a lot tighter, and the villain is just ... wow. Pure, unapologetic evil. There are some moments that make me squirm uncomfortably, such as the "bath scene" in ep 5, but at least even the fanservice is drawn well.

"Human history and growth are both linked closely to strife. Without conflict, humanity would have no impetus for growth. When humans are satisfied with their present condition, they may as well give up on life."

If you mean the bath scene with Shinobu, that was in ep4. I do not understand why it would make you squirm uncomfortably, but then again, I'm just strange. Anyway, I kinda like this style. There are two things that are kinda faulty in many animes (among many other things), and that being either the pointless fanservice or the boring scenes, where exposition happens, but really nothing happens just people standing around talking. That scene (and many others in this and the previous series) actually mixed these two aspects together and made them to be balanced out by each other. So we have fanservice, that is not pointless because there's exposition, and we have exposition that is not that boring due to fanservice.

The way Shinobu talks reminds me of Horo.

The return of stationery-weapons is most amusing.

Oooooooooooh boy episode 7 was damn good. The dialog between the characters were really smooth, and there were some really witty lines.

Ararararagi is so coooooool. He's my hero.

I was actually a bit let down that
Spoiler:
the villain simply left town after a stern talking to
. I really wanted to see some Araragi+Senjougahara v. Bad Guy combat, although the opening fight sequence nearly made up for it. It's not every brother-sister fight that results in collapsing highway overpasses.

Still not so crazy about the loli fanservice, but eh. It's not like it harms the story or the series; it just doesn't help anything, either.

Overall what I like most about this series is the atmosphere. That's why I like to watch it late at night. It's sharp, slick, smart and a pleasure to look at.

This was a pretty hilarious episode. Yes, the toothbrush porn. That moment when he realized he might very well lose was priceless. Not to mention the third. Her exit, that whole "character jumps, legs spin as a whistle sounds, dashes through wall, leaving body-shaped hole" thing was a really nice touch; little nod to animation history.

Also, quite enjoyed the OP.

Watched ep 7 and 8 finally. Incestual dental sex, huh. :V

Man, 3 episodes left, I hope the rest of the novels will be animated as well. This is one of the most interesting, fucked up, creative, nicely animated and looking, clever, sexy, mainly dialogue-orientated yet not boring series I've ever seen.

So, I just got all caught up, having marathoned Bakemonogatari for the last 3 days, and then watched all of Nisemonogatari yesterday and today...

It's okay for me to feel a bit aroused if Karen isn't my little sister, right? Right?

Apart from some naked splits and some talk about "development", this was a relatively toned-down-on-the-ecchi episode (or maybe only in comparison to the previous one, which would be hard to top anyway without being straight-up porn). More of the banter that I enjoy, and some very pretty art, with fairly ominous introduction from these two. Two possible villains of supposed great strength, who seem to know everything about Araragi's friends, setting up their base of operations at the same place
Spoiler:
Oshino and Shinobu
used to claim? - I think the home stretch is going to be pretty fun. I also wonder how ol' Kanbaru and Karen will get along.

Plus, shots like this (click for fullsize, this was lovely):

Also, it's funny how we're 2 episodes into Tsukihi's arc but she barely shows up.

You say with a posed look.

All of the dialogue and characterization Shinobu's getting makes me wonder what she was thinking throughout the entirety of the first season.
