oh my god they?re so bad at this

Also Strafe can we get this on the server please please please? I know it?ll lag like there is no tomorrow, and probably set the physical device on fire but
This is such a silly mod :V

We have to see if it's SMP-compatible (via Bukkit and SpoutCraft), though, before considering any mods. And no, ModloaderMP ones are not an option (as these require both client and server-side modding).

They clearly state that it's not a mod. The whole thing is powered by redstone and spawners. It looks really fun, despite the potential lag issues.

Once we update and all of the schematic importing is complete, I imagine that we'll be looking for alternate world choices. I'd really like to play this on the server, but one thing does bother me: the fact that the game drops so much loot. As a stand-alone world, it is understandable and helpful. As a secondary world, it would just make the rest of the game too easy with all of the free gear and food. If there was a way to disable all of the free goodies (I suspect they're in dispensers somewhere in the ceiling), then we'd have better chances at using the map.

I would like to at least look at the map to see the redstone mechanics. Honestly, I have been planning on making an automated mob arena similar to this construct, but they improved my ideas in every way. :V

Loot between worlds is a serious issue, huh

If only there's some way of emptying one's inventory between each world or something

I believe there is a way to segregate inventories to their respective worlds buried somewhere in the config files.. However, player XP levels will be located in those files as well. So theoretically, the XP obtained in the Cake World wouldn't be able to be used in the Main world.  Taking the weapons, armor, and food out of the world is one thing, but I would like the player to be able to keep the experience points that they earn.

I have wanted to make a Battle Arena / Mob Arena ever since DDR's server. The Adventure Update with its experience orbs gave this idea more steam and a reason for being, other than just a simple mob grinder. This Cake World just gives me inspiration on several design improvements.  The plans never went away; just other things got in the way. :V

There are some interesting mods included in that pack, yes. However, we're still wanting to have the server be a (mostly) vanilla experience, within reason. Also, I'm not exactly thrilled about turning everyone on the server into a pony..  :ohdear:  On the other hand, I do use the minimap mod and love it.

EDIT- Apparently, I thought the My Little Pony mod was part of the Technic pack. My mistake. :V

And I thought we would be disbarring mob arenas due to the threat of EXP farmers! :V Oh well, I'm approving of having this on our server; it's leaps and bounds beyond what I could do with the idea. ^^

Tekkit looks nice, but I prefer having mods that extend on the vanilla experience rather than try to replace it.

If you've still got a 1.8.1 version of minecraft, you can still have Technic pack. Someone made an unoffical 4.5.3 version which is actually very stable. Infact, I've been playing it - thought it was dodgy at first then realised actually I just didn't have a fucking clue what I was doing :v

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a180/manmuppet/Minecraft%20Techpack/2011-12-03_030800.png

Its totally awesome. The ability to make half/quarter/panel blocks is quite immense, and the redstone pack extra clock/logic peices are amazing - because they can be placed on walls as well as floors for amazing flexibility.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a180/manmuppet/Minecraft%20Techpack/2011-12-03_030501.png

Also this is the only mod I've seen where you really feel like you're doing serious industrial damage to the enviroment, which is awesome fun...  :derp:
Theres nothing like draining a well of oil dry, or draining a lake to cool your oil refinery...  :V

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a180/manmuppet/Minecraft%20Techpack/2011-12-03_025317.png

I am somewhat cheating as I have single player commands running as I can't be bothered learning the recipies, but if you knew how much of a pain learning to use this stuff right was, you wouldn't blame me either.

Lots of pictures of my stuff in Technic pack
^ theres a picture of inside the oil well I'm draining from, the top of the pump head from the oil well, and lots and lots of piping and systems in the refinery... this mod is great fun but a bit worrying.

If you do get it, remember this - if an engine turns red, turn it the hell off!! (you can turn them on and off automatically with clocks, I'm actually doing that all over to keep it running safe)

I know it's compatible with 1.8.1, but I'm running 1.0 already, that's the thing :|

Ah right. Nah I heard something about 1.8 being compatible but the redstone additions not working properly, which I thought sounded arse, then bumped into this version which apparently has it fixed. Having not tried the official techpack though, I can't say for sure.

All I know is its awesome.

Is there a version of mcnostalgia for 1.0 yet? You could use that to backdate.

Oh, don't get me wrong. The mods in the Technic pack look incredible. I'm getting Wiremod and Life Support vibes (Gmod) all over again! If they release a stable 1.0 version, and Stuffman gives it the green light, then I will not argue. Vanilla percentage be damned.

Hopefully these resources that you collect have some sort of purpose. I'm sure they do.

Also, to my dear friends in the Bukkit community: Please HURRY THE FUCK UP ALREADY.  Yeah, I know they're working hard to release the updated version, but we've been waiting so long for the proper Adventure Update as it is.

Yeah, at this rate, here's to hoping it will be here before the new year. D:

Just looked on the wiki, and I don't know if anyone else knows this. Strongholds in 1.0.0 are STILL limited to 3 in a world. I thought they were going to be unlimited. D:

Agreed here. Wiremod was absolutely brilliant, and seeing something like it in MC is a major plus.

I think, however, that if we put in this mod, we will probably have to use the custom SpoutCraft launcher to run Tekkit. However, this is easier than having everyone add in the SMP/SSP mod version, I believe.

Depends on your definition of purpose :v

Only problem I have with it is as yet I haven't started building from scratch in technic pack, because its really complicated.  It doesn't help that by the looks of it, industrial mod and buildcraft add their own new materials, so combined, you have several kinds of tin, copper, etc. so thats a bit of an arse.

Mind you the bit I like is making the machines, and trying to make something on SMP that you could just leave running and expect to be stable might be interesting.

I plan to backup my MC today, including saves, and then try to set up my refinery to run automatically. Should be interesting to see what kind of result it has on the landscape since I've half drained all the surrounding lakes already lol

Aside from the new crafting items, BuildCraft only adds the Oil block to the environment. IndustrialCraft is the one that adds all the extra blocks. They have their own versions of Wrench, though, so you'll have to work around that. I think they also use their own versions of Oil, if I remember the Yogscast talk about it correctly.

Also, if you use 1.0 and Forge, OptiFine currently has a problem with it in the A releases, so make sure you update to B2!

I heard you can kill the Enderdragon with snowballs. Gotta try it out soon.

So yeah. If you are very much into enchanting, like me, but got bored of having to wait till sundown to hunt monsters each night for those precious precious EXP orbs, because you can get ten levels per night at most or something like that, ways have been found to automate and trivialize the process of leveling up to the point where you can actually farm experience.

Now if you'll excuse me. I have a mob spawner to find.

I'm pretty sure on smp spawners cant spawn that many mobs.  IIRC strafe said it was around 15 or something.  Also it's about time we updated to 1.0  :derp: What time do you guys expect to have the new map up by? Also, teamspeak party on the day of the update.  :V

What exactly do Animals need to spawn? I know they need Grass, but do they need sunlight or just a certain light level? Also does there have to be a certain amount of space?
I'm not spawning a particular animal type btw.
