Don't know about you guys, but the sound is completely broken for me in pre 5 (I mean, there's no sound at all, and the slider is at 100% as usual).
Water has changed too: every "water block" coming vertically from a source is also a source... which basically means a waterfall is an infinite water source (maybe a bug?).
I still couldn't try and fight an Enderdragon, as I can't find SinglePlayerCommands for pre 5, and I don't know what other mods may enable me to spawn one.
However, they seem to be ridiculously tough (100 hearts of life), and drop a bunch of exp orbs (and one obsidian block too, which is probably temporary).

Welp. I'll think about it, after Cykyrios' post I'm not sure.

Okay so I was on jeb's twitter, and here are a few things I learned:
The camera controls were not supposed to be here (though they could be useful for film makers). jeb also noted that you can reset the camera by holding 2 "opposite" keys at the same time (e.g. N+M).
The water physics will be reverted to those of pre 4 (which is a good thing).
F6 noclip mode will be removed (of course it will...).
Well that's pretty much everything.

To other testers, is the sound working for you?

Edit: Best spawn in the End...

SkinEdit, you finally have competition.

...major drawback: it's Windows-only, so Mac and Linux users are left out. Again. At least it's written in .NET, making a Mono port possible.

Why god, WHY, well Java does not seem to run well on my Windows7 System since my graphic drivers die when I use other editor. Let me see if this works out well.

Yup noticed the release. And yeah the fact wooden door won't open without redstone turned me off. So waiting for it to be fixed.

I hear rumors that suggest there will be a few more quick releases (pre 7 and then Release canidate 1 ect) before minecon.

While I haven't gotten the update install I can't help but agree with many people on this including the Yogcast....

Spoiler:
Why the hell did you put in an "Ending" to your sandbox game?! This has got to be a troll, just remove it! ;_;

Not that it bothers me...but it's somewhat pointless if you ask me. Hopefully that will be removed.

It's completely optional and you can continue your world after it. I don't see the problem, it's just an optional boss battle for people who like something to work towards to in a game, even a sandbox game.

Also, if it doesn't bother you, why would you want it removed? If it doesn't bother you, then don't play that part and let the players who like it do it :P

Having an ending bothers me. Sure you can still keep doing stuff as usual, but in a way it kind of ruins the feeling.

Well, it would be very cool if there were multiple bosses with multiple ending scripts. Then it also wouldn't seem so end-able.

Obviously for a New Game+ feature. Start a new game with all of your inventory and levels/skills. :derp:

Okay, seriously. I suppose they wanted to have a credits roll at some point. I mean, they named the area "The End" for a reason.. but it's good that you get to continue the file afterward. Wasn't there an achievement coming out that calls for slaying the Enderdragon?

Yeah I dunno, suddenly taking the enderdragon and slapping a final boss label and end credits over it kinda feels like they're just saying "OKAY DONE, THERE'S THE GAME!" Like they're just trying to put a capstone on the thing so they can shove it out the door to meet their release date, when there's still a few things that could be expanded on, like making villagers do something. I would've much rather had The End be some kind of creepy sky dimension that had more content and new blocks and stuff in it.

I'm worried that since this is it for beta, we're not going to see any further developments without them being sold as expansions :[

I don't get how this is a drawback

Besides bug fixes, and additional crafting recipes, I presume? Besides, at the moment,  those who bought the game earliest aren't affected by this change.

This also depends on if Notch will still keep his promise he made back AGES ago in Alpha....

I have no idea what new content is going to come out post offical release, but I'm hoping most of it will be just part of the normal update.

Course If Notch does carry true to his word, then if we are all Alpha players (which thank god I just barely made it in as one) We will get the DLC that'll come in the future free.

Sadly Beta players and beyond will have to pay for thier DLC content following offical release.

No way of telling yet how this is going to play out though.

Cause I recall Notch also promised Alpha players access to Minecraft on other platforms. Guess what, that ain't happen now. :P (Course that's Microsoft for you)

Really don't like the idea of paid dlc with minecraft. Seems like it would mess with multiplayer way too much.

And how would Notch just keep people from pirating it anyways?

P much.

Also what Cadmas said. I for one wouldn't buy Minecraft DLC, specially with the mod community being so large and out there.

Though I am also an Alpha player, I remain opposed to the paid DLC idea (again, as HakuSM said with the modding community) as that would further divide players. In our case, it would also present issues on whether to support or not support these official addons on our server.

However, it really depends on what the DLC will be (eg. cloaks/hats, Steve Co. Crates and Keys, overcharged map packs, or expansion packs similar to GTA IV: EFLC)....

Guys The End isn't actually the real end of minecraft.  If you'd do your research yes they will still be updating it after.  As for the paid dlc here's the tweet regarding that.
Quote
No I don't think so... bigger "expansions" might cost money unless you have an alpha key
So it'll still be updated just some of it will have to be paid for.  As for what these "expansions" might be i dunno but it sounds like stuff we could probably live without.

And stuff someone could make similar mods of, meaning unless Notch goes on a legal rampage against everything, DLCs will be p much pointless.

Seems lately that some MC sound effects have been changed for everyone, regardless of version (tested on 1.8.1 and 1.9pre6) and whether or not the game was force updated.
Among those that were changed - doors, chests, creeper explosions, TNT, and bow.

Just had to test that after what you said, EP, and I must say I don't really like the new sounds... or should I say I prefer the old ones?
On another note, Minecraft 1.0 RC should be released today, according to notch.

And new bugs have already appeared :D
Still some work left before full release, it seems.

Back to the new sfx, I do like Endermen sounds, but still think doors, explosions and bow sounds were better before.
A single redstone wire now looks like a dot instead of a cross, and I think jeb said something about changing redstone, but I still can't see any difference... anyone?

So still nothing new? I like the looks of that kingdom mod thats being made, you know, the one people are saying "isn't this what notch said it'd be like" about. Rather that than the final release in fairness... modders seem to break less features.  :V

Yeah, paid DLC would so suck and be pointless (especially since me and sunny are both beta starters). I really hope he doesn't do that, it's just gonna make people make mods of them instead and stuff.

Also, this was just uploaded:

Hm. I thought that Minecraft's release date was 11.11.11. But I ran the launcher and it is still at 1.8. I am moderately interested in the new stuff like enchantments, grenades, shroom biome, the Ender Country (The End?), grenades, loldragons, villagers, grenades... Shame to see that all of it is still not implemented in the game. Oh well. I can wait.

Currently as it stands right now Notch is currently left the office to prepare for his trip to Las Vegas and Minecraft is now offically gold and prepared for release.

The only thing we can do now is wait till the 18th...
