Chao's were the most "what the fuck were they thinking" aspects of the Sonic Universe (aside from the growing collection of useless sidekicks)
It was a very interesting diversion, though! A little odd to slow down and raise pets in a Sonic game (what is this, Harvest Moon?), but it was quite rewarding at least and delivered a whole alternate depth to the rest of the game.
I found the attempts to re-brand the series as a WTF moment for the franchise, but this needs no further discussion here.
Notch had better not make a unit similar to the Dreamcast's VMU to make us "raise" our new barnyard abominations.
Or the GBA with a supporting Sonic game on that system for you Gamecube version owners. :V
Chances are that he'd more likely use the Pocket Editions of the game for this, which would be a real pain for those of us lacking supporting hardware (so far just the obscure Xperia Play).
