not sure where to post this, so I'll just do it here :v

anyone else having an issue with downloading repays from gensokyo.org? everytime I try to download a replay there, my firefox opens a white window with random glibberish. welp.

Right-click and Save As is indeed what you need to do, but you should also know that this is because you have your browser set to open downloads instead of just saving them. You should change your preferences so you can download with a single click.

Thank you Drake :D And you only want to steal what you love, so for me is valid to use "Love sign" :P

But the "Love" character in Love Sign is Koi (恋), not Ai (愛).
After checking at the Yahoo Japanese dictionnary,
Koi stand for feelings toward the opposite gender, romantic love
and not love in general.

in the same way you could say using 愛 would have nothing to do with spell cards since it still mainly deals with the love of people/animals and not concepts or objects
you're nitpicking too much, why would you even go look that up

I forgot why I looked it up in the first place. Perhaps I noticed the kanji meant "love" but wasn't the usual " 愛" I'm used to see.
And on top of that I wasn't using a wiki to translate spell card unless I was stumped and couldn't find the kanji fast enough on my own. ^^;;;
In any case, with spell cards name like "Love Sign "Master Spark"",
I can't help but feel it would be dangerous to be Marisa's boyfriend.  :P

I can't help but feel like it would be dangerous to be ANY Touhou character's boyfriend.

Flandre, Koishi, and Nue being put together in fan arts often is the result of:

1. The former two are younger sisters who are more powerful than their older sisters.
2. They all have themes that are considered creepy-sounding.  Flandre and Nue's sound similar in some parts too.
3. Flandre and Nue both have strange-looking wings.

Am I right?

Thanks in advance!

Those are secondary to them simply all being EX-bosses that are "weird".

There's a dictionnary entry at pixiv for that trio.
The EX 3 girls (EX三人娘).
They are the Unknown Girls.
Flandre is the "Unknown", Koishi is the "Unconscious" and Nue the "Undefined".

Oh, there's also the same tag  at nico nico douga.
There are even more explanation over there. ^^
... it's too long, I won't translate it. X D
But among a few things, the article talk about the similarities of the theme songs of all three characters
and the similarities of each pairing
like Flandre and Koishi being the daughter of someone important and tending to be depicted by (some) fans as crazy and so on.

They also have several links of different type of videos and pictures over there.
For a gameplay video, try this one :

I like how people in the comment start freaking out around the 10 minute mark. : )
Oh, I managed to find the same video at youtube :
http://youtu.be/9Tafy9JcbEY

I also found there a mix of Flandre and Koishi theme there.
http://youtu.be/LcD1XEGLrmM
The niconico version is there.

How the grazing system works exactly? Sometimes I feel like when I am too close of the shooter, I get minus score than when I am more distant. It's like that when the bullet line stream are too concentrated the game engine can't count all the bullets graze.

One example of this situation for me is the start of PCB extra stage. In my opinion you can get more graze if you start more close of the bottom of the screen than in the middle of it.

I doubt that's the case. The very first wave of bullets shoots 256 and you can graze them all. Although naturally if you're closer to a bunch of enemies, it will be harder to graze every bullet just because you have less space to do so, or you have to move. I'm not sure if I'm grasping what you mean; can you provide replay examples?

HRtP - Unknown, probably doesn't matter anyway
SoEW - Unknown, probably doesn't matter anyway
PoDD - Unknown
LLS - Unknown, should be above 400
MS - Unknown, probably same as LLS
EoSD - 640
PCB - 1024
IN - 1536
PoFV - If I'm reading my Japanese source correctly, there are two separate limits for different types of bullets, one at 175 bullets and one at 360 bullets per side.
StB - No idea
MoF - 2000
SA - Probably same as MoF, unconfirmed
UFO - Probably same as MoF, unconfirmed
DS - No idea
GFW - Probably same as MoF, unconfirmed
TD - Probably same as MoF, unconfirmed

It's a little tangential, but...

Question 1:
I don't think the music is actually Touhou-related (especially since one of them uses "Love Story wa Totsuzen ni" as a lead-up to a running gag), but since the only place I've heard the following music are in these two Chihagura Kagura/Mokou videos on YT/NND:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/nm3735821 (the music that starts at ~2:37)
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/nm7912168 (the music that starts at ~5:20)

Does anyone know what the titles of those songs/pieces are?

Question 2:
I know a couple of Chihagura's doujins have been translated, but have the text-containing videos on the account the two above are from (as a warning there is one NSFW video on that account, but there's nothing to translate in it...just fair warning)?  Are those just panels from an existing doujin that may or may not have been translated or were they specially-done for the video (technically it's an SWF, but whatever)?

Eehh, now I think that you are right, the problem isn't the grazing system, but the distance or the angle of the shooter and you. I noticed it better when I take some replays of me and watched later. Anyway thanks for the answer :)

PS: 256 shoots, I only can get 170 grazing :(

I have a question and I think this is the right thread? So, I've played PCB and IN but I've never done a 1CC clear on normal until now. I always did badly but after I installed the vsync patch and did a run through hard, I was able to 1CC normal. Are those two things really as good at increasing my ability to play as I think they are or is it something else?

Depending on your computer and monitor, yes. Vpatch can do magical wonders for play. And it doesn't really make you better, it just un-hinders you. If you watch replays you might even be able to see the difference.
As far as playing on higher difficulties, many people find it helps them improve, so I guess the answer is yes.

locating doujin albums
« Reply #834 on: September 03, 2012, 03:01:02 AM »
Hello all,

I'm trying to locate a doujin album that was either released at comiket 73 or 77 called "Ring-a-Ring O' Roses." It's a piano album by lime green/notzan act. To no avail I cannot locate it for purchase or download or anything! I've only managed to find one youtube video here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYTEJ7fdDrg

Also here is the album cover if that helps.
Any help is appreciated!

It's not a cheat, but's not something official, either. It allows you to play the game with the frame-rate it's supposed to have.

I have a feeling I'm missing something super-obvious, but I've got a question:

In what way is Alice seven-colored/rainbow-colored? Between clothes & hair she's got 3-4 at most. Her spellcards maybe use all colors at some point, but if so it certainly isn't as distinctive as others who also do, such as Marisa, Miko, etc.

It has more to do with her observations with colors than her being 7-colored herself.
However, this has become less referenced in recent games such as Th12.3 (Hisoutensoku)

It is because her name sounds close to that in japanese so that is why the association is made
