All right. As I mentioned a few months ago, I have a copy of Hatarakimono (courtesy of Ryuu) that I would like to scan (just Ellen's section for now-- might do the others later). However, I've never done this sort of thing before, especially in terms of taking a book apart for scanning. Can anyone with experience with this sort of thing give me some pointers on how to properly do this?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this.  I'm sorry if it isn't.

I want to post one of my Touhou fan fictions on the fanfic section of this forum, but since the story is posted on FF.net, can I simply post the link to that site in that section?

Thanks in advance!
Anyone mind giving me an answer?  Please...

Just copy and paste. Nobody wants to have to head over to another site just so you can rep++++ or whatever other reason you have to not do some simple copying.

Thanks a bunch!

I have a song I like listening to; it's titled "One Night Hell Screen" (album: Flood of Sounds) Now, could anyone give me an idea on what the whole title means? The "Hell Screen" part makes no sense to me.

  • I said, with a posed look.
More likely, you're going to need a few programs, not to mention hardware, such as a keyboard (i.e., the musical instrument, not the computer part).

"Human history and growth are both linked closely to strife. Without conflict, humanity would have no impetus for growth. When humans are satisfied with their present condition, they may as well give up on life."

I know there was a thread about programs to make Zun-style MIDis or something, but I can't find it  right know to save my life. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Edit: Found it. http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8608

Touohu Wiki claims that Momiji appears in the fifth chapter of Wild and Horned Hermit, but I don't see her anywhere in that chapter at all.  Is she really there?

I'm guessing she's the girl next to Aya wearing a tokin on page four.

Oh, saw her now.  Can't believe I never noticed her (or I didn't think that it was her), and I even looked at all the pages...

Thanks!

I can't really say, but you might have better luck browsing the names of the works here.

Just in case -
I was talking about the original songs, not the arrange itself. Any ideas what the originals are?

Judging by the train whistles I'm going to take a wild stab at Did You See That Shadow?, even if it doesn't really sound like it.

comparing the list on this video with the list Bogus posted, the original is apparently Our Hisou Tensoku
I guess it's up to you to judge how accurate either list is. actually, now that i listen to it they do sound similar

A friend of mine told me that the reason ZUN cannot use most of the PC-98 characters is because he does not own the rights to them.  I remember reading about this somewhere.  Can anyone clarify this?

Thanks in advance!

The PC-98 games were published under the name of Amusement Makers, which is an student group in the university ZUN attended at the time. As the story goes, Amusement Makers kept the rights to the characters after ZUN left the group, which is why only so few of them have appeared in the Windows series.

Frankly, I think the whole thing sounds more than a little fishy, especially since there are returning characters from the PC-98 games (of course, ZUN could have bought their rights back), and Amusement Makers is just a (unofficial) student group. So, as far as I know it's just a widespread rumour and ZUN has never said anything to confirm it. Can't say whether it's true or false for certain though. Anyone have more conclusive information?

This has been driving me crazy for months.  I know the character is fake, but I have heard the music in one or two other videos.  Unfortunately I couldn't find a Youtube link, but it's there on Nico Nico Douga:

Isn't that 童祭 ~ Innocent Treasures from "Changeability of Strange Dream"? Aka. this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvkquWS_aMA

A question about this song though. Has ZUN really used it enough that some call it ZUN's theme?

I tend to browse youtube when I'm looking for touhou music. However, I have trouble figuring out how to get them. I would like to purchase some of the songs I find, but I can't make heads or tails of the japanese, and even simply appreciating them on youtube is not sufficient. I'd like a legal copy, the quality is too low for me, and it's not very convenient for making playlists.

A lot of the music doesn't appear to be on iTunes, which is making it fairly difficult.

What is the best way to get the following songs (among others):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuLIRragIf8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsmIndAlgXU

EDIT: Incidentally, the biggest issue I'm running into is quality. Even ignoring the legal question, the youtube copies are too low quality, and you can really hear it when they make my speakers crack.

FPS stands for "framerates per second".  It indicates how fast the game is moving.

"Frames per second", also known as a "framerate". You kind of mixed the two, heh. Anyway, a frame is a single image that your computer displays. Most monitors can display 60 frames per second, which is also the normal speed that Touhou runs at. If a lot of stuff is happening all at once, or if you have a poor computer, the game might not be able to keep up with the 60 frames per second, so framerate drops. If it says "30fps", that means it's only drawing 30 frames per second instead of 60, so the game is running at half of its normal speed.
