>'Friendly' bear, or 'I'm going to eat you liver' bear?
>Friendly nod.
>"Nazrin, liscenced Seeker. I was hoping you could answer a few questions for me."
>Just outta curiousity, where do we keep OUR liscence?

>Friendly enough, though you wouldn't be surprised to see the other version from him if you were on the wrong side of the law.
>You give him a friendly nod.
>"Ask away," he says.
>The Guild itself would have written records of your enrollment and graduation, but for your part, the badge itself is enough proof of status.

>"Department of paperwork?" He laughs, a deep and coarse sound. "Can't say that's what I usually hear people making off with. You looking for somethin' specific?"

>"Huh. Hadn't heard about that one, even," he says. "No, nothing like that. A few reports of pickpocketing, half of which show up in lost and found eventually. Just the usual, really."
>"You got any details on that theft?" he asks with a more serious expression on his face.

>You catch a faint trace of wariness on the watchman's face as you mention Murasa not wanting to file a report. That probably conjures up all kinds of less legal reasons a person might want to avoid this...
>Then you lean in and ask about Louise in particular.
>"Louise who?" he asks, giving you a funny look. "Wait, is she that missus with the sunhat that runs half of Customs?"

>He chuckles. "Not really the kind of complaint people bring over my way. I see her walk by sometimes, but that's about it. I hear customs has had a lot better turn-around time since she took over, though."

Delayed reaction.

>Regarding that alarm enchantment we detected back in Louise's building. Are we familiar enough with that brand of magic, or skilled enough, to circumvent it?

>Regarding that alarm enchantment we detected back in Louise's building. Are we familiar enough with that brand of magic, or skilled enough, to circumvent it?
>Are we familiar with anyone that would be able to circumvent it?

>You are not even certain it was an alarm, but simply a minor passive ward of some sort. You certainly have no natural means to circumvent whatever it is.
>Marisa might be able to ascertain the spell's nature more precisely, but you figure her method of circumventing it would be akin to 'barreling through'. You know that tools exist which can disenchant wards, either temporarily or permanently, and a magician of some skill probably could as well, but you think some alarms spells are designed to also trigger if this happens. You've no doubt there are ways around this, but it would take some digging on your part to find them.

>Have we ever had cause to use a tool or talisman of that nature ourselves? Do we have any in our possession?
>How much do they usually go for, if such things can be acquired in above board stores?

>You've experimented with a number of minor magic devices over the course of your apprenticeship, and have a knack for them in general. You haven't actually used any dispelling charms, nor attempted to sneak through an alarm ward, but you're sure the former is easy enough. You don't have anything like that in your possession at the moment, though.
>Given that they have a wide variety of legal uses, you're sure they can be purchased at a magical supply shop without much difficulty. You don't know the price of such things off-hand, and you imagine it varies depending on their power and reusability, and other factors you're not familiar with. You might be able to pick up a cheap one in the range of 40 guilders, maybe? You could be way off, though.

Well, getting back to the task at hand...
And by the by, if anyone can think of something to ask officer Bear here that I haven't, feel free to cover my shortcomings.

>"Hmmm."
>"Lemme ask ya something, check a theory for me here. You've been around a while, yes, heard a few stories?"

But when I checked the room where the Customs office keeps their copy, there were no signs of tampering with the lock, no signs of a break in at all. What's that say to you?"
