>Ponder how we can surprise Momiji. A good one, too! Maybe with a fish...
>Surprising Momiji's a hard thing really, and fish is kinda smelly. She's mentioned that Wolf Tengu, out of all the Tengu races, have the best sense of Smell. Their Sight is third-best.
>So if you were gonna surprise her with something, it'd have to be something not-smelly. Which could be a stumbling-block, given how a lot of the stuff you think she'd like has some kinda smell to it. Maybe Ran could help with that though, Foxes have a pretty good sense of smell too! And she's a Nine-Tailed Fox Youkai, in addition to being a Shikigami! So she's bound to know something helpful!

>To Nitori's!
>Having decided on asking Ran for advice on that matter, you decide to speed up on your way to Nitori's! "Waaaaagh!?" "Is That So?!"
>Oh yeah, you're still holding on to them. Rumia seems to have gotten over the initial shock, and seems to be rather calm. If a bit green around the gills. Dai on the other hand...Well, you didn't even know you could even get that green. Maaaaybe you're a bit too fast for her just yet.
>Of course, that thought is soon stopped in it's tracks when something collides with you, knocking you and your 'passengers' to the ground! "Waaaah?!" "Is that sooo?!"
>"Ha-ha! Got 'em boss!" "Great throw! Now let's go finish the job and grab the loot!" Which is soon followed by a small chorus of "Yeah!"
>...Sounds like a small group of fairies. Same ones that were arguing about Kamen Rider stuff the first time you came here in fact. You've heard how some fairies tend to fall into little bands and take to attempting to rob people. Seems like they picked the wrong cat to mess with.

>Let them cower before the sight of the cute and kitty youkai!
> Put on our game face. Bonus points if we can terrify them with it.
>Those fairies really picked the wrong cat to mug, huh? Then again, you can't expect too much from most fairies that aren't Dai.
>Speaking of which, it seems they've noticed her. "Hey, isn't that the one that hangs out with that Ice Fairy?" "Yeah! We'll get promotions from the Big Boss if we can get the loot from these guys then! Boss was wantin' to show her who's boss!"
>...Looks like the leader of these guys is just another small fry. Well, nothing like knocking down goons. You've knocked down all of these guys at least once each in the past come to think of it. Funny how they forgot you already. But...Who's leading them?
>Then again, you haven't been up the mountain for a while, so they're bound to have forgotten you. Looks like it's time to remind 'em why you're in good with the folks up on the peak! And what better way than with a little intimidation?
>...Is what you were going to do, but it's hard to be intimidating when you're still flat on your face. So you just settle for standing up and getting ready for another fight!
>"Ooh...I don't like fighting, but...!" "Too bad I already ate, huh? Well, they'll be a good warm-up~!" ...That's ostensibly a good thing though. You really don't wanna have to see that nightmare again.

Enemy Group: Bandit Fairy x6, Bandit Fairy Lieutenant x2

Hibachi Status: HP 100%, MP 8
Rumia Status: HP 100%, MP 12
Daiyousei Status: HP 100%, MP 18

-Controlling Party Members/Direct Control System(D.C.S., for short.)-
Now that they've properly joined the party, you can issue Direct Control Commands to Rumia and Daiyousei while in combat.
But, this means you'll have to keep in mind their MP Counts, Health, Skills, Items, and Spellcards.
Also. Unlike Hibachi, they do not 'level up' on the Intermezzo Screen. Instead, specific flags must be triggered during the story to increase their abilities. And some of these powerups are themselves flags for others.
Some party members however, will gain powerups as a part of the plot in later arcs. ...Eh? Which ones you ask? Well, telling you guys would take out all the fun!
So, do keep patient, and continue participating! See you in the next Update too! *Hero Senki'd!*
(Nobody will ever get that Reference...Unless they played Genso Shojo Taisen that is, and messed with the Music Room. So sad.)

-Party Member Summary: Rumia-
Rumia, as implied by her skills and such, is your typical Warrior-Type party member, typified by having higher power or durability than the other party members.
In combat, she has access to Shade Arts, which are her primary means of doing almost everything that isn't a basic melee attack, including Danmaku. However, she isn't that much more durable than Hibachi is currently.
She might also hold a secret, but what could it be? Not even she knows for sure.

-Summary: Shade Arts-
Rumia has at her disposal a wide array of skills that can be used through this option.
Some require MP, others do not. I shall list what she has access to here.

-Shade Shot-
Rumia's Default Danmaku. Deals damage based on Danmaku Mastery's Rank.
Single-Target

-Shade Laser-
A light sequence of Beam-Type Danmaku that has an added effect of ignoring a small portion of the enemy's Defensive Ability.
However, the damage output is lower than Shade Shot's. But, it can hit up to three times, and targets a random foe for each hit.
(MP Cost: 1)

-Shade Burst-
A shotgun-like blast of Pellet-Type Danmaku that is slightly weaker than Shade Shot, but hits multiple randomly-chosen foes.

-Protect Shade-
If you opt to use this skill, She can reduce all incoming damage to herself by half for that turn. However, Laser and Beam Type Danmaku deal Extra Damage.
(MP Cost: 2)

-Shade Cover-
By using this skill, she can opt to take the hit for a specific party member chosen at the skill's use. Luckily for her, she's treated as under Protect Shade when using this skill too!
But it's twice as expensive...
(MP Cost: 4)

-Spellcards-
These are Rumia's Spellcards, they've already been listed in her Inventory.

-Party Member Summary: Daiyousei-
Daiyousei, as implied by her skills and inventory, is the party Medic. And, as such, has the most MP of the party, to fuel her Healing Ability.
However, due to her dislike of combat, she has almost no offensive capabilities. However, she does have other ways of dealing with things.
And sadly, due to being a Fairy, she also takes hits like a glass window, so keep an eye on her, would you?

-Summary: Fairy Arts-
This skilltype is actually not unique to Daiyousei, as all Fairy-types possess some form of it. The exception to the rule being Cirno. But we'll cover her another day.

-Fairy Trick-
By using this skill, there's a chance of using something completely random. It could help, or harm. Fairies don't have good control after all.
So it could also fail to do anything at all either. Maybe there's something to be had for using this skill enough times..?

-Hide-
By using this skill, Daiyousei can retreat from battle for a random number of turns, thus avoiding harm.

-Teleport-
This skill is always on, so there's no worries here. She has a random chance to avoid all incoming damage for any given attack.

-Fairy Kunai-
A weak spread of Kunai-Type Danmaku that, while it does sting a bit, is relatively useless at attacking.
And is, at best, a distraction. It does hit all enemies though.

> Use Fairy Kunai and Shade Burst to distract the enemy and then have Hibachi move in on one of the lieutenants for some melee action.
>And by melee action, we mean kitty paw in face followed by close range lazer
>If we can't get close safely, add to the danmaku spam with a few orbs and arrows and lazers
>We might figure out how to do the curvy lazers
>With a tap, the Wrappings snake off your legs, and back onto your arms! It kinda tickles, but it works!
>And thankfully, they haven't quite gotten around to attacking yet, so you're easily able to use your speed to get in range of one of the ones that look important and give 'er a good whack! Unfortunately, the laser you had planned to follow up with goes wide and singes the side of a kinda thorny tree, with no damage at all to anyone but the tree.
> In response however, two of the fairies open fire while you're still recovering from the laser, and catch you off guard! Kinda stings, but it doesn't feel too serious.
> Meanwhile, the three that have targeted Rumia look like they flunked out of the Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy....Or so Yukari would say. All their shots are going wide, or even the wrong way entirely! "Waha~! You guys suck at this~!"
>Of course, not being one to ignore that, Rumia returns fire with a shotgun-like spread of red and blue pellets! These shots manage to really lay the smackdown on one of the fairies that attacked you, as well as one of the fairies that was attacking her, in addition to lightly peppering the one you just decked!
>Of course, in her panic at the prospect of getting shoved into battle, Dai lets off a wide spread of Kunai-shaped bullets! "G-go away!"
>Surprisingly, all of the fairies managed to blunder into at least two each! And the other important-looking one that was winding up to attack ended up getting distracted and missing Dai entirely! "Th-that was close! I'm really not cut out for this..." Unfortunately, one of the stray shots from one of the other fairies smacks into her! "Kyaaaa!"
>It doesn't look like it was too bad a hit though, but the fact that she did get hit isn't a very good thing. You know from personal experience that fairies can only take so much before going poof. But, you probably took a worse hit earlier than she just did.

>Make sure that the lieutenant Rumia's shooting isn't the one we're clawing. If anything's going to cause friendly fire, it's that.
>You do still have the ring, but it's inactive right now. Things don't look too bad enough to merit using it though.
>Dai seems to appear to be preparing something, but a stray shot from one of the Bandit Fairies knocks her back a few paces, halting whatever she was trying to do. "Waaah!"
>Of course, the following shot misses entirely, and she sees the third coming and managed to fade out for a moment before reappearing! Didn't know she could do that! Which she naturally follows up with another scattered spread of Kunai that seem to serve as little more than annoyances. Though some of the fairies seem to get a bit irritated.
>Of course, when you charge in for a followup punch, the fairy slips out of your grasp! In response to this, you unload a spread of seven bubbles! Of which, only three hit, but it looks like they really did a number on the one you were after!
>"Waha~! I'd better catch up! You're gonna get more than me at this rate~!" With that having been said, Rumia lets off an almost shotgun-like blast that practically knocks herself over with the force! Of course, this shot was quite effective, and the noise of the blast startles one of the fairies into getting a major face-full, in addition to winging two others!
>Unfortunately, due to the temporary incapacitation of righting herself, she takes a few hits herself. "Gwah?! That actually hurt?! Now you got me mad!" She seems to glare at her ribbon for a moment.
>And in the confusion, you feel a sharp sting. Feels like one of the fairies scored a hit on you as well.

>Are we capable enough to judge the enemy's condition? If so, do a check.
>If not, paw the hell out of the nearest unlucky grunt!
>During a lull in the fighting, Dai takes the opportunity to try something weird again!
>....And is rewarded for her efforts by a chunk of ice dropping out of a small magic circle, and onto her head, throwing her for a loop. Seeing this opportunity, one of the Bandit Fairies slings a shot at her, sending her head over heels! "Kyaaaaaa!" This of course, makes Rumia mad, you catch her sneaking another glare at her Ribbon. "Now you done it!"
>With that, she launches another trio of shotgun like blasts. One of them clips one of the fairies, while another poor sap blunders right into the thick of one, then the other!
>"Ha-HAH! Take that!" She remarks gleefully while zipping in and out of shots. You note that she does get clipped lightly, but she seems to be taking it in stride. Then again, she's probably a bit more resilient than you are. A few shots come close to hitting you, but seem to go just a tad wide. They don't get close enough to trigger a Graze though, which is a mite irritating. A Graze-Boosted Card might be just the trick to resolving this mess in one shot.
>Feeling a bit more bolstered, you try to fakeout one of the Fairies, and let off a blast of Kunai Danmaku! This blast wings four out of the eight, One of which is really looking pretty damn beat-up. So you decide to followup with a quick smack!
>....Or so you thought, but your swing fell terribly short, eliciting a laugh from all the fairies that aren't dealing with danmaku.
>"Haw-haw-haw! Lookit 'er boss! I think we smacked her so hard she lost 'er depthingy!" "Yeah! What a riot!" In their laughter, one of them decides to sling a shot at you while you're off-balance, which hits you square in the chest. Which, naturally, hurts a LOT. Even your resilience has limits after all, you sure aren't Yukari y'know.
>That ribbon of hers seems to annoy her at times. Maybe asking later on after all this would be a good idea?
>It seems they're taking a beating. But they're dishing their own hurt too. You in particular are starting to feel it, and Dai doesn't look particularly good either. Maybe now's a good time for her to try patching someone up?

She's still got a few scrapes and such, but she seems to be in a lot better condition than she used to! Noticing this, one of the fairies slings a massive clump of Danmaku at her!
>However, she manages to see it coming, and fades out again until it passes! "I-i can't let myself get hit by that!" Rumia, of course, lets out a cheer. "Ha-ha! Go for it! Show 'em you're a better Fairy than those losers!"
>You haven't quite gotten the hang of firing multiple laser shots, so you settle for aiming for a Fairy, and firing a laser off! Unsurprisingly, thanks to the speed of the javelin-like shot, it hits home, eliciting a sharp cry from the Fairy Bandit! Won't be much longer before that one drops you think, but there's seven others to deal with as well!
>Of course, after seeing what you did to their comrade, four of them charge at you in a blind rage! One manages to nick you slightly with a wildly-fired shot, the second actually manages to catch you in the shoulder, the third completely misses, and the fourth actually crashes right into you physically! Maybe she forgot to fire Danmaku? Regardless of if she forgot or not, that one hurt the most!
>Regardless of that, you're really feelin' the hurt now! Maybe it would be a good idea to unload a Spellcard, or have Daiyousei heal you. "H-hey now! Take too many like that and you're a goner for sure! Even if Danmaku's non-lethal and all, you can only take so much pain before you pass out. Trust me, I know!"
>Well, Rumia does have a point there, which Ran, and even Yukari herself confirmed in the past. Danmaku is non-lethal, yes, but even Youkai have their 'Pain Limit'. Once that's exceeded, they can't fight back at all. And from how you're feeling, a few more attacks like that and you're down for the count.
>In the chaos, a shot that missed you clips Rumia's Ribbon just barely. Through the pain, you catch a wisp of...A blackish, er, something escape from the nick, which seems to repair itself shortly after. And for a brief moment, while the wisp hangs in the air, you see a barely-there and highly transparent figure overlap with Rumia. You've got no idea what that means though, and it fades at the same time as the wisp does. It looked taller than her, that's for sure. You'd say it was just a little shorter than Ran. Speaking of Ran, maybe she's the best one to ask about that? So many unanswered questions!
>She doesn't seem any different for it though, but she does seem a tad dazed. Thankfully, one of the fairies that look like they're in charge of this group missed the attack she launched at Rumia, but the other one rounds on you and attempts to fire off a shot, but is startled into stopping by a voice you hear coming from atop one of the nearby trees! "Wait!"

~BGM: Green Messenger~

>Of course, the fairy, in her shock, can only babble out a surprised "H-huh?!" To which this voice responds, "Accosting travelers as they make their way to someplace important, attempting to deprive them of their valuables. They call that, 'Thievery'."
>Of course, one of the bolder fairies of the group seems to get a bit hotheaded at this proclamation. "Oh yeah?! Who the heck are you to be sayin' stuff like that anyways?!"
>Looking up to where the voice is, you see...That can't be right, Wriggle went the opposite direction! And yet, here's someone who looks, sounds, and even smells almost exactly like her. What's going on here?! It does kinda look like something Wriggle would wear though, she's got a nifty half-mask that covers her eyes and head. S'kinda like a visored helmet almost. "I have no name to give to the likes of you!"
>Oh hey, it just became a full helmet-mask! That's awesome! But you can't help but feel that this is somehow familiar, maybe you saw something like this on the TV Box once? More unanswered questions! Hooray! "Hooray!" Get back to respawning already and stop bugging the poor parser...
>Of course, the sudden interruption prompts Rumia to jump back into the fray after pulling herself together, and unload a blast of Danmaku that actually hurts your ears when she fires it off! One of the fairies that took a hit from her blast was the same one that you laser'd. She's really looking beat-up now! One of the fairies that looks like they're in charge also isn't looking too hot either, thanks to getting bombarded by the blast!
>Of course, the one that got hit the worst was one that wasn't particularly beat-up.

> Get Dai to heal us.  Rumia should be fine for a little longer, but we need the health badly.
> As for Rumia, keep up the shotgunnin'.

Apparently, Thomas the Tank Engine isn't one to take crap from anyone.
