Item #: SCP-969
>
Object Class: Safe
>
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-969 may be contained in a normal room without any special procedures. A stand has been provided for purposes of aesthetics and ease of access, but SCP-969 has been safely contained within a cardboard box in the past with no observed ill effect.

Description: SCP-969 appears to be a costume at first glance, consisting of several components. Until tests were performed (see addendum below), it was debated whether this should be considered one SCP or several. SCP-969 was discovered on Gensokyo Isle in an uninhabited part of the island nation in 1963. It is not known how SCP-969 arrived there, or how long it had been there. A later investigation of the area it was located has turned up no clues or anything unusual.
>-SCP-969-1 appears as a large cape, the same weight and consistency as silk and two meters in length. An unremarkable titanium clasp and chain rest on the neck of the garment. The outside of the cape is eggshell white. The inside of the cape shows a serene view of a night sky, rendered with photo-realistic quality and giving the illusion of depth within it. The starry vista does not seem to be warped or distorted by folding SCP-969-1, but the view contracts as the edges of the contract in a two-dimensional sense. Over the course of the course of a year, the night scene changes as would a normal view of the night sky. SCP-969-1 seems to be more durable than normal silk, resistant to staining or tearing. Request to test the limits of SCP-969-1's durability have been denied. SCP-969-1 has a curious property of absorbing all known spectra of light and radiation approaching its interior when worn normally. It does not seem to store what it absorbs. Professor Okazaki has proposed it shunts absorbed spectra into the sections of space shown in the cape, but as of yet this cannot be tested. Wearing the cape inside out negates this effect. SCP-969-1 may be safely worn on its own.
>-SCP-969-2 appears to be an oval of unidentified reddish crystal, 12cm long, 8 cm wide, 1.5 cm thick at the center. A length of black material in the center, 6cm long and .5cm wide, gives it the appearance of an eye. The bottom of the gem is flat. It shows a curious quality of adhering to flesh when placed on one's chest over the heart, its underside conforming to the shape of the patella to fit comfortably. Experiments have shown this only seems to take place when applied to humans, attempting to apply it to human-like SCPs has been declined. When the crystal is in place, displays a properly of gathering ionizing radiation within a three meter radius, and projecting it behind the wearer. When worn in conjunction with SCP-969-2 and SCP-969-4, it can allow one to survive in radioactive areas indefinitely and allow other unprotected individuals to survive as well. O5-12 has allowed for SCP-969 to be used for such purposes in Research Unit 2
>-SCP-969-3 appears as an meter long, hexagonal rod. One end is marked with nonsensical designs of lines and circles, forming a sort of geometric runes. There is a black sheath, seemingly designed to let one slide their arm into the rod. The opposite end of the rod has six smaller rods; 30cm long and 1.5cm thick, protruding from each of the faces of the hexagonal. Casts taken of the interior suggest that it is made to fit the arm of a normally proportioned woman about 181 cm in height. Wearing the rod on its own has no apparent effects (see addendum below). It seems to contain complex machinery, but attempts to disassemble it without causing damage have failed.
>-SCP-969-4 appears to be a boot for the right foot, made of something resembling concrete. Casts of the interior suggest it it made for a size 14 (US standard) woman's foot. Despite its appearance, seems to weigh about as much as a normal boot. It seems to have greater sturdiness than concrete; attempts to chip off a sample have failed. A woman of proper size wearing the boot seems to immunize the wearer to the effects of ionizing radiation. O5-12 has authorized it for such use around Research Unit 2.
>-SCP-969-5 appears to be a two connected metal rings at a 30 degree angle to each other, designed to mimic the electron orbits of the Rutherford atomic model. When slipped over the left lower leg, it will freeze into place and hover of its own volition. It may be removed freely, though it will take a significant amount of force to do so by someone other than the wearer. It has shown no unusual properties when worn (see addendum below).
>
Addendum 969-1: A female subject of the correct build and shoe size put on all five parts of SCP-969 on [Expunged]. Video taken of this event record her seemingly unaffected by anything unusual, until placing the rod upon her arm. She then complained of feeling unpleasantly hot, before the video washed out with bright light. The subject was apparently vaporized, and analysis of the ruins of the testing room suggest that temperatures in the tens or hundreds of thousands of degrees Celsius occurred for a fraction of a second. No further experiments have been authorized.

Addendum 969-2: "SCP-969 is not a toy! Please stop wearing parts of it around the lab without specific need, and stop requesting to use it at costume parties!" -O5-12
