Yeah. Not quite sure about the timing of Gamzee flipping out vs. discovering Tavros was dead, but ... actually now that I remember it, I can't remember exactly when Gamzee flpped out.

Tavros being killed was decidedly AFTER Gamzee flipped out. So his flipping out wasn't because of Tavros. The manipulation though, I can't really say.
