I think this may be pushing it a bit.
"Twenty-Five and you got yourself a deal."

I'd trust Fightest, Kips. He knows how to do this negotiation stuff, if things he's done in DnD are any indication.

The problem I see with Fightest's suggestion is the "I'm the first to hear the next rumour worth paying for" bit: the streetear has no reason to come to Nue with future information if Nue's trying to control the negotiations in her favor. If Nue's going to try to control the next big bit of information, she's going to have to give up something in return.

I expect Fightest doesn't actually expect this to go that far, but figured that such an offer would be more conducive to haggling. Regardless, you all should work it out since quite honestly I suck at negotiatins.

I suggest we backstab the oni and loot the information
I agree with Sect. If you're a generous buyer and ask the informant after paying to come to you with more info later, I'd think they'd be more likely to treat you like a good repeat customer then if you're cheap to them.

The first very important choice people!
I suggest going with the "I'm the first to hear the next rumour worth paying for.", but with 25 instead.

Twenty's generous enough already. The deal is an investment of trust, the streetear knows that the next rumour she picks up will be bought (assuming she's any good at gathering information). It's simple trade.

I'm with Fightest on this one. Besides, we're haggling. We're supposed to go back and forth until we reach an agreeable price.

>Do we have any idea which Deva she might be referring to?

>Most likely, it would be Deva K. She has the most interest in streetears by far; she's something of a natural gossip.

> Do we have any streetears or information brokers we deal with often or who work for us?
> For that matter, who do we currently have employed?

>You have a couple of regular contacts who watch the market for you, feeding you information on prices and surpluses in exchange for cheap drinks. When you have to leave the pub while it's open, you usually put one of them in charge or a regular you trust; it's a pretty rare occurrence.

I say we take her new deal.  Just gotta hope it's not completely useless info.

Apparently, Thomas the Tank Engine isn't one to take crap from anyone.

Twenty's generous enough already. The deal is an investment of trust, the streetear knows that the next rumour she picks up will be bought (assuming she's any good at gathering information). It's simple trade.
Except we're trying to get her to trust us: oni, by their nature, are honest to a fault, while we, a, well, Nue, are pretty much the definition of connivery. If we're going to build a relationship of trust, then we need to offer something to her, not demand that she give us something. In fact, her counter offer of us letting her know of juicy gossip would have been perfect to go with the offer of 20.

I'm with Fightest on this one. Besides, we're haggling. We're supposed to go back and forth until we reach an agreeable price.
When you haggle, you also need to offer something of value to them.

> How much do we sell a shot of something good for?
> If it's five or less, then: "Okay, twenty, I'll pass on something interesting to you, and a shot of (insert drink here) to go with it."

The reasoning for the shot is that it's something an oni would be interested in, and it'll still be cheaper than twenty-five.

We're in a position of power here. If we don't buy, the oni goes hungry. Offering regular custom would be enough to have her eating out of the palm of our hand. Regardless, it's done now, but keep that in mind for the future.
