--- Quote from: N-Forza on May 12, 2011, 03:00:43 AM ---Are you unaware of the other large doujinshi conventions in Japan that focus solely on original games?

Have you ever actually been to Comiket? Touhou only takes up about 1/9 of the whole thing.

--- End quote ---
Yup and nope! Sorry, I suppose I'm making uneducated statements based on impressions from the amount of discussion various subcultures get on this side of the pond (ie, way more when it's the fan stuff) - I've not been in a position to look into it myself, and assumed if the majority was in fact original material would have more presence even on the English-speaking internet.

Could you point to some of these conventions or perhaps some Japanese news sites that cover doujin in greater variety?

Edit: Looks like Touhou was actually 1/14 of C77, while the top 20 fanworks accounted for about 2/7 of the circles. I guess that's no plague of unoriginality.

First video game: I don't recall clearly, but it might have been Ducktales for NES. Or, if it counts, this Mac game that got an XBLA port.

First VN: Kagetsu Tohya. :V

That it gave rise to iichan, I suppose.

Mr_Bob:

You've mentioned you lived in San Francisco, what do you personally like about the city, tourist traps, etc?
What about looking at it from a geographical standpoint?

How did Batman thwart the Red Hood?
In your layman view, what could American comics gain from studying Japan? Vice versa?
