1. If you're playing on a pad, then for the love of god get a stick.
2. If you already have a stick and are still sucking, then this site will give you all the help you need.

I'm using the SFIV psuedo-satapad.

It's great for SFIV, but kind of falters for the movement required in a GG-esque game (though I can iamp on it fairly well).

I'm using a satapad and it's awesome, the only problem is that the button layout is weird when plugged on a PS3, but it's ok since fighting games let me remap my controls.

Tager is a bit hardcore, those attacks when comboed cause more damage than any other character I can see or use.

I don't wanna say it but this is a lot like GGX

Tager might as well have been a powered up Potemkin x Sol Badguy.

I know it is by the guys who designed GGX and what's not, they didn't have to recycle the character moves so badly that it is entirely obvious. (not all but very alike.)

as for Tager, indeed, true Soviet Damage. Now if only he wasn't so slow.
I take back anything I said about him resembling Sol Badguy, even Sol doesn't do cancelling attacks as best as he does.

(I am going through downloading all the strategy and combo vids)

^ I love how you go around talking about Tager like he's such a broken character despite the fact he's at the very bottom of the tier list, and that he only has one match up in his favor: Haku-men. He is nowhere near as good as AC Potemkin is.

Fact: I use Tager to defeat V13 all the time.

Fact: I couldn't defeat V13 with Rachel (my fav character as it resembles a Touhou, more like Kogasa + Orin + Remilia)

Fact: I do suck, hence I use Tager because it is low tier combos, the rest were a bit too hard to use and I haven't gotten the hang of it. Soviet damage!

V13 is quite hax I know, anyone who is decent practiced in V13's combos might as well be God.
Those combos are like what? at least 28 hits per round once rendered vulnerable?

AI can't combo for five cents.

Hence soviet damage will make plenty of damage.

Ragna I am trying to use, but with little success actually, I am not used to his moveset.

which one is the guy with the sword?
that guy, not yet familiar with the names yet. (only cares for the girl characters) (and Tager only because I use him often)

Ah, sorry, that guy was Haku-men, not Jin.
and huh unplayable characters does not include Jin or Ragna, are you sure?

unless you are talking about

[Special "Unlimited" versions of characters, which give them boss-like properties similar to the Gold and Black forms in Guilty Gear. The Unlimited forms of Ragna, Rachel, Hakumen, and v-13 can be fought in the single player modes.]

also on the moveset thing, simply remarking, in other words, I see similiarities, can't quite put my finger on it but it just feels that way in obvious amounts. V-13 reminds me of Akuma a lot.

mah, disregard this, I suck cocks.

EU releases are the stuff of publishers' nightmares. Even if they decide they WON'T try and make the game in 17 different languages, each country still has its own rules regarding rating and what's ugly and what's not... **sigh**

I always lol hard at, for instance, how on God of War, when you have to sacrifice a soldier for Poseidon, the soldier was replaced with a normal zombie for the EU release...

Jin does seem very similar to Ky.

They have the same color scheme, the same fighting style flavor-wise (swordplay with element attacks), the same role in the story (representing the overbearing government, opposing the renegade main character) and the same gameplay outline; very similar projectiles (which they use heavily), decent reach, pretty straightforward without a lot of crazy gimmicks like the rest of the cast.

What seperates them besides their personalities?

EDIT: I think I should elaborate a bit.

If Jin was in a different game it would've been fine since nobody would immediately try to make connections between them. But when you make a game that's effectively the followup to Guilty Gear, the first thing you think before looking at the new main characters is "hmm I wonder how the new characters compare to Sol and Ky." Then you get Ragna and Jin, it's kind of like...yeah...

If they were going for homage they should've been a lot more subtle about it, like just giving some new guy Sol's sword or something.

The thing is, mainly, only japanese games are region locked... That's so useless...

And the worst part is that there is no modding to unlock region... You can even mod to run pirated games, but not other region games.

If Jin was anything like Ky, Jin would actually be worth playing, but yeah, it's pretty obvious because EVERY FIGHTING GAME EVER has a Ryu and Ken, for the most part. That's pretty much why I said not to use them as examples. That aside, Ragna doesn't use fire, and Jin doesn't use electricity, both play very differently, and while Ragna may still be the "villian", he's so much more chill than Sol. Also, Ky never had a man-crush on Sol, so

I'm pretty sure Jin is supposed to resemble Ky, but there are still differences in styles, otherwise people would just go play GG.

Ky's projectiles have a lot less recovery on them, so they can be used in blockstrings, and FRC'd if you want to tick throw or something, zoning, etc. Jin can still do all these things, but he either requires more meter to do it (since there are no FRC's in BB), or he may end up at a disadvantage due to his relatively slow startup, since his projectiles cannot combo like Ky's can with basic gatling to Stun Edge.

One thing Jin can do that Ky can't do (at least, in AC) is deal nice damage without using meter. IIRC, Ky can do about 35%-40% using 25% meter, and maybe 20-30% without. Jin can easily do 30-40%, but most of his high damage combos start from 6C, which is fairly easy to block. He can still combo off things like counterhit 623C, but it does far less damage than a decent 6C combo. Jin can also do decent damage off a throw, but that's more a difference between GG and BB than Ky and Jin.

There are also differences in their movesets as well, such as Jin's 623 compared to Ky's. Ky's Vapor Thrust is usually a combo ender along with his lightning javelin, and hardly ever used for anti air. Jin's Fubuki/Rehhyou is designed for anti air, so it's either quite fast on startup(623A) or has really good invincibility(623C). Jin's 214 (aka ice cars) is also enough to make Jin different from Ky. Ky's 214K (Greed Sever) is a simple overhead that can go into a combo, but Jin's is a fairly reliable source of transportation in the air (escaping from pressure with j.214C, etc.), and a combo ender.

Summary: Jin is similar to Ky in design, but in battle, he's got enough differences to make him play much differently. He's also insane.

Edit: Or what Letty said. That works too.

Carl is the one who plays most like a GG character despite looking nothing like one. His "sister" is controlled almost exactly the same way Zappa's dog is. They both have 100% shenanigans too.
