Ask a Staffer Ep. 10 - Ignore the dolphin in the corner - Roukan
HakureiSM:
Would you run forever if you could?
Mimachiro:
What would you do if you could fly?
What would you do if you could fly to distant planets?
What do you think the world will be like a hundred years from now?
Mr_Bob:
What do you think about the feasibility of torpedo mounted dolphins?
How bad is your eyesight?
Do you have a car?
How do you feel about different styles of fighting games? The faster the better? The more realistic the better? More sparklie attacks and quarter-circles than you can throw a callus at?

--- Quote from: E-Nazrin on April 21, 2011, 12:18:27 AM ---So, which Harry Potter character would Sango hook up with? What about Touhou?
--- End quote ---
!? OK, this question I was outright not expecting. You caught me off guard here, Mus, and I don't really have an answer. As a stand-in for a real answer, Cedric Diggory
Touhou? Hm. In the Sango stories I've written she's ended up particularly close to the Chireiden group Spoiler: and may or may not have given Orin mouth-to-mouth at one point. Koishi is probably her most frequent visitor, though, and the dolphin's pretty interested in her carefree antics. She's probably the best friend Sango has at this point (unless the random fish of the lake count).
: W-Wait, what are you doing pairing me up with Koishi-chan?! Don't I get a say in this!?
--- Quote from: Theorin on April 21, 2011, 12:35:40 AM ---How does it feel to come from the inferior side of the country, Weegie?
--- End quote ---
It feels like a lousy Edinburger's jealous. >:<
--- Quote ---What's your favourite type of swimsuit other than the school swimsuit thing?
--- End quote ---
Frilly one-pieces. >_>
--- Quote ---How would you feel if any of your work actually got published? And no cop-outs like "but it's not good enough to get published" or anything! (That's thoroughly untrue, for one thing. >.>)
--- End quote ---
I suppose it'd depend on how successful the book actually was. If it had a decent readership, got good reviews and such, I'd feel goddamn fantastic. Otherwise I'd find myself wondering what the point was in all that work if in the end it wasn't even liked.
--- Quote ---Jings, Rou-laddie... I hear yer no speakin' wi' the accent! Am I gonnae have tae go over tae that shithole called Glasgae an' chib ye or summit? >.<
--- End quote ---
Uh...nae? Please nae.
--- Quote from: MomiSM on April 21, 2011, 01:34:02 AM ---In the end, does it really matter?
--- End quote ---
Nothing really matters, anyone can see...
--- Quote from: Maitirade on April 21, 2011, 01:56:08 AM ---Has Touhou changed you somehow?
--- End quote ---
Hm. The games, not so much. I enjoy them, but they're not ground-breaking. The community, on the other hand, is probably the first group I really felt like I fit into, and after my shitty time at school that meant a lot to me.
--- Quote ---What is your favorite nut?
--- End quote ---
Donut.
--- Quote ---Do you like spicy foods?
--- End quote ---
Nope, got a cat tongue. I can't even drink hot chocolate. XP
--- Quote ---Where's the beef?
--- End quote ---
In the fridge along with the bread. NOW PUT TWO AND TWO TOGETHER HONEY AND MAKE ME A SANDWICH
--- Quote from: Iced Fairy on April 21, 2011, 02:16:24 AM ---Anyway, does it make your Scottish blood burn when I tell you you're writing like a Brit?
--- End quote ---
Not really. In terms of how Scottish people are expected to talk (see Theorin above) I get sort of frustrated about my country. We all sound so damn illiterate according to the internet. :<
--- Quote from: Friendifex on April 21, 2011, 02:52:43 AM ---How much does music influence your writing? Your daily life?
--- End quote ---
Searching for songs to play while I write is the most likely thing to distract me from actually writing. D:
--- Quote ---Are there any songs that can easily and without fail completely and totally change your mood around, regardless of what's been going on earlier in the day?
--- End quote ---
If there are, I haven't found them yet.
--- Quote from: Sanya S. Rurovyak on April 21, 2011, 02:53:29 AM ---You have a cat? What does she look like?
--- End quote ---
Black, with a white patch on her belly. We called her Minstrel, but given she was scratching at my leg from day 1 we've never really seen eye-to-eye.
--- Quote ---What is the last good book you've read?
--- End quote ---
Probably back to the Agatha Christie books again here. Of the half-a-dozen or so books I've read from her, the best is without a doubt The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. It was the book that basically turned detective fiction on its head and incited rage in the readers because of the ending - but I saw it coming, and personally thought the twist was outright amazing. Saying any more would ruin it, so all I can say is go read it.
--- Quote ---Do you put much effort into studying your writing craft? (By this I mean do you read guides to writing well, etc.)
--- End quote ---
Admittedly I could do more in this department. I am not sure exactly what I'm doing WRONG, per se. I've looked online a few times, but all I've found are guides to improve your vocabulary and imagination.
--- Quote from: MomiSM on April 21, 2011, 03:35:47 AM ---Would you run forever if you could?
--- End quote ---
Depends. What am I running from?
--- Quote from: Genichiro Ookami on April 21, 2011, 06:55:38 AM ---What would you do if you could fly?
--- End quote ---
Ooh, I like this question. The concept of flying's always been enticing to me secretly. Airplanes scare me, but having my own wings would be freaking amazing.
--- Quote ---What would you do if you could fly to distant planets?
--- End quote ---
Not much, frankly. There's no life within light years of us, so other than rock and a distinct lack of atmosphere there's not much to see. ;_;
--- Quote ---What do you think the world will be like a hundred years from now?
--- End quote ---
Perhaps not the best question to ask me, because I'm the sort who's not sure the world'll still be around in a hundred years. :|
--- Quote from: Bob Once Removed on April 21, 2011, 07:55:18 AM ---What do you think about the feasibility of torpedo mounted dolphins?
--- End quote ---
: Whaaa?! B-But that'd blow up the dolphin too! No, not, never, nein, NO WAY, ixnay on the orpedotay!
--- Quote ---How bad is your eyesight?
--- End quote ---
My eyesight's fine, actually. Never needed glasses.
--- Quote ---Do you have a car?
--- End quote ---
Nope, and I'd never trust myself with a one-ton killing machine either. :<
--- Quote ---How do you feel about different styles of fighting games? The faster the better? The more realistic the better? More sparklie attacks and quarter-circles than you can throw a callus at?
--- End quote ---
First thing I need - balance. If one character's blatantly overpowered or has an infinite that trivialises the game, count me out.
Second - strategy, spacing. I play characters with good pokes more than anything, maybe rushdown characters when I feel like a change. If the only decent strategy is mashmashmash, I'm turned off.
I'm actually not a fanatic for visuals. I still play a little bit of 3rd Strike, and that game's well over 10 years old now. :V

--- Quote ---How many Pepperami Big Boys could you feed to Victoria Beckham through a tube before she became visible to the human eye?
--- End quote ---
As many as you like, assuming she throws them up at the same rate you feed them to her.
--- Quote ---What is the name of the force that pulls things towards the centre of the Earth?
a) Gravity
b) Magic
--- End quote ---
Hah! Nice try, exam! Final Fantasy has taught me that Gravity IS magic! b)!

--- End quote ---
8:01. Put the damn thing in reverse and hit the back wall of the garage.
--- Quote ---There are six lines of equal length. How long will Kerry Katona be in the bathroom?
--- End quote ---
Long enough for us to forget her, hopefully. What does she actually do again? Advertise supermarkets?
--- Quote ---If a train is going at 70 miles an hour, how surprised would you be?
--- End quote ---
I like trains.
--- Quote ---What is Amnesia?

A dark descent.

So far south that she goes all the way around and hits the north pole.

This I'm not sure about. Looking at the scene where Violet turns into a giant blueberry, he's probably into expansion.

According to South Park, the answer is actually 'fuck'. :V

--- End quote ---
Eh, I can still pass if I skip this question. Probably.
--- Quote ---There's a party where Jane invites 20 guests, and her partner Helen invites 40 guests. How angry is God?
--- End quote ---
"All I wanted to do was provide basic civil rights and legal recognition to Brian and Greg, two people who love each other and have been together for 15 years. But I was wrong. Oh, so wrong!"

Do I pass?
