Is the artist/writer for Nichijou the same as the one for Azumanga Daioh? Because many things are starting to seem very familiar...Particularly the fact that the minute I first saw Mai I thought "Holy guacamole, smart Osaka". :derp:

The guy who made Nichijou and the guy who made Azumanga Daioh are two different people. Kiyohiko Azuma created Azumanga Daioh (and is currently working on Yotsuba&!), while Arawa Keiichi created Nichijou.

Now that I think about it though, the similarities ARE kind of uncanny. :3

Given Azumanga caused ripples akin to a meteor hitting a lake, I personally expect that Nichijou takes direct inspiration from it.

Just finished watching the latest episode. I can't wait for the next. :3

This is what I love about slice of life anime, especially the kooky humor kind. You never know what the creators will throw at you in the next episode until it's too late and you get the blow head on. :V
