Fighters without numpad?
« on: February 25, 2011, 03:01:37 PM »
Hello, MotK. So, I hear quite a bit about the 3 Touhou fighters, and I want to get them. Only problem is, though, my laptop doesn't have a numpad. Can I play the fighters without it?

You can assign whatever keys you want to use in-game. The numpad configurations you may have read about are mainly used to describe input directions, but you can use the arrow keys to move around too.

Pretty much this.  Also, since you're using a laptop, you may want to change your keys to something else if it doesn't allow certain button press combinations.  My cousin has to use IJKL for his arrow keys, but this might vary for you.

Some people do swear by the keyboard, but generally they use the arrow keys + zxc.  One issue with laptops is their keyboards generally have pretty low rollover, meaning their internal microcontroller can only register a limited number of keypresses at a time, which will hamper playing Touhou games in general.  So for laptops it's advised to use a gamepad or an external keyboard with better rollover.
