Can't think of a place to put this. Now, I'm translating a Japanese danmaku script for RPG Maker VX into English. Basically, it lets you create a Touhou-like shooting game using the game, while retaining the normal RPG interface thingamajig-whatchamacallit used in typical RPGs... at least those in the 16 bit era. Not the best combination, I agree, but workable.
Anyways, basically, there's a term I'm not familiar with that I think danmakufu users might know, which is one reason I'm posting this here.
What is a 'way'? I know n-way shots are shots fired in a fan-shape; in an arc before the user with the center bullet directly in front of said user. But I have no idea what a 'way' is. It's written in English even in the Japanese script, e.g. 'way数' or 'ショットのway数'. That's another thing; there's two of 'em. If it was just one of them, I would assume that it simply meant what kind of shape it would make, or the number of bullets in a spread. But there's two of 'em, so...
For those of you who don't know Japanese, 'way数' means 'Number of /way/s', or more literally, '/way/ amount'. 'ショットのway数' means 'Number of /way/s in a shot' or something similar. But what is a /way/?
Of course, I might be completely wrong and you danmakufu or other danmaku maker users don't know what it is, but I don't know where else to ask, so... Help out?
