King Gurren Bekku The eastern kingdom of Amarika is a theocracy, ruled by the all-knowing hand of Gurren Bekku. It was a democratic country once, but its congress was corrupt with liars, terrorists, socialists and heretics. Only Gurren could see the ill will running his country, and he led a rebellion to overthrow the 'well-meaning' government of Amarika. They bask now in his will, believing his every word and worshipping his every order, as he is a messenger of God himself brought down to show Amarika the way to glory. He enters the tournament to demonstrate the folly of the countries who have yet to convert to his religion. Should he lose, he will of course claim that it was part of his almighty plan, because if he were to win everything that would deny his followers the chance to believe rather than simply know. Bekku is a zoning character, fighting with a set of cross-shaped blades which he can send flying across the screen at will. He can fire in any trajectory, but is limited to having only three blades on screen at a time. (Admittedly, this is still enough for any non-Bekku player to call bullshit on.) His supers involve linking the crosses together in absurd and impossible ways to come up with a unified attack on the opponent, and his IK does this with a dozen crosses at once, all proving the vile and damnable character of the nun he just beat the shit out of. His theme, Righteous Right-Wing, is an uplifting violin piece with demented Latin chanting taking place in the background. Be happy, for Bekku commands you to - unless you don't worship his god, in which case he wants you deader than dead. |
