I don't think blood has anything to do with it.  I imagine he just doesn't want to desecrate his bro's corpse.

Except what he's attempting to do would, in fact, cause MORE damage to the corpse than just pulling the blade out normally.

Poor Dave. This really reveals a lot about his thought process.

Wait so Dave was never aware that the exile was talking to him?
Also I'm not particularily happy with this turn of events. It's like the Dave we knew is crumbling under the pressure of his role as a Sburb player.

Wait so Dave was never aware that the exile was talking to him?

I don't think any of the human players were.

For some reason it seems they could communicate with the trolls more freely.  It's a plot point that never seemed to have been fully explained.

Re: Dave's thought process, he's right - cool and fun as he is he's basically the human who has the least relevance to the plot in the comic thus far.

The piano feels a bit too muted but it's otherwise very good.  Nice job!

Re: Dave's thought process, he's right - cool and fun as he is he's basically the human who has the least relevance to the plot in the comic thus far.

It's also a major part of his character that he hasn't been given the opportunity to do anything for himself. Everyone who entered Skaia was faced with a harrowing situation that they managed to triumph over. Dave fell off a building while Bro did all the gruntwork slicing the meteor in half. Once in, he torrented a bunch of grist to buy stuff, and orange creamsicle Dave gave him a whole bunch of overpowered loots so things were never really a challenge for him. He farmed gold and grist with assurances that it would make him equivalent to John in power, but it's no stretch to see why Dave might not believe he earned anything he's received so far.

In fact, has there been any situations where Dave has been in danger yet? I don't recall.

As far as I can remember... No, there really haven't been any situations of the sort.

I'm iffy on the crocs, but as for the monsters... I don't really count that one as he summoned Davesprite to bail him out of it.

Also, the only Daves to encounter anything of any danger are the doomed Daves. Doomed Dave 1 gets stabbed by Droog like he was nothing, Doomed Dave 2 becomes the kernelsprite and actually stands up to Jack, and Doomed Dave 3 gets cut down by Jack as soon as he walks off the quest bed.

It's like constantly facing a reminder of "Hey look, this is what would happen if you tried doing being the Hero. Stabs and death."

Just saw this, got me thinkin' about Karkat.

Quote
He thinks he was put on this planet covered in an ocean of his own blood to be taunted.

Covered in an ocean of his own blood?  But he's the only troll to ever have red blood.  In the first Alterniabound flash, he's got a red body (all the other troll grubs' bodies match their blood color), but what would cause "an ocean" of it?

I assume when Karkat ectobiologied the grubs, they all got dropped onto meteors along with the adult clones and the meteors went on their own happy little journies.  So what did Karkat's meteor land on that would have caused a lot of red blood?

I think it's less of being his own blood and more of being generic red blood on par with the planet's theme.
Also. Tomorrow. 4/13.

Yeah, it's never said it was troll blood specifically. It's more the fact that it's just red at all that was angering him. :I

The Land of Pulse and Haze has oceans of red blood. In Karkat's mind, red blood = his own blood, or at least until Jack cut himself. It's as simple as that.
