I just finished catching up to Fractale. What a delightful show~

I only noticed during Fractale 4 that they throw the ads across the screen on purpose, only during scenes that directly involve the Fractale system.

It's so subtle I thought they were just random ads with no purpose whatsoever but really it's kind of neat.

I doubt I would have noticed if I hadn't read your post here before watching the show, to be honest.

You know what Level E is? It's anime that's on a mission to satirize every anime every made that had anything to do with space, aliens, robots, and ... the Power Rangers. it's hilarious to see things unfold, such as the one kid who tried "transforming" into his Power Rangers form for the first time, and confesses to a friend, "Yeah, I did it in front of a mirror. At first I laughed, and then for some reason I started crying."

I'm enjoying this show more with each viewing.

"Human history and growth are both linked closely to strife. Without conflict, humanity would have no impetus for growth. When humans are satisfied with their present condition, they may as well give up on life."

I want to strangle Kyubey so bad right now. Also, is Madoka's first reaction to anything to just throw stuff?

On another note, my heart was not prepared for what just happened in Infinite Stratos. Kana Hnnnnnnnnazawa's voice is a lethal weapon.

Yeah, kinda.

I have an issue with shows that attempt to evoke emotion through meaningless suffering.  It's a cheap tactic that panders to the lowest common denominator and allows staff to get away with poor writing in order to quickly build up a character's rapport with the audience and then strike them down to achieve a dramatic effect.  Character suffering handled poorly is the quickest way to get me to dislike a show.

I agree with this 100%, and think it could easily and fully apply to fanservice.

I'm guessing you despise Bokurano, which is pretty much built on: CHILDREN ARE DYING! DYING TO SAVE YOU! FEEL BAD DAMMIT!

I do happen to think it's one of the worst mangas ever, yes.  That particular author gets off on child torture, so.

Now I don't feel so bad for disliking it. I've heard nothing but praise for Kitoh's work, simply because of all the bad things happening to kids. I honestly felt it was kind of cheap tactic to get reactions out of the readers. Even when I gave Bokurano a shot, I found myself skipping huge sections of it because I was bored. I've got no interest in reading Shadow Star as the only thing I've heard about it was "ZOMG IT'S SO GRIMDARK KIDS GETTING RAPED DEATH EVERYWHERE!"

Bakuman ep.19 was pretty surprising. The editor's attempt at being a puppetmaster
Spoiler:
with a really nice counter-ploy from the young creators when they catch on
was great. I have difficulty seeing what could possibly happen within the six remaining episodes, though. The show started going in a few different directions at once towards the middle, setting multiple possible avenues their careers could take, and it's still up in the air. I have no idea what it's culminating into, but it's a decent and sometimes surprising show.
