I have 2241 words so far. And I've set a goal for myself to reach 80,000 words before the end of the month.

This will almost certainly end in pain.

EDIT: Actually, no. 80,000 words is my minimum. I'm going to try for 105,000 though (3500 each day.)

This WILL end in pain.

I've done 2569 words so far~! Doing okay... Hopefully I can reach my goal tonight. This has been over eight hours since I began, so unless I pick up the pace, I might not make it, seeing as how I still have nearly 1,000 words to go to reach my main goal...

Writing for a demon to this music is frickin' amazing.

And that'll do for tonight.  2059 words.  And they're awesome.

My mother as a writer always talks about this page. She finished her first day quota by half an hour after the day started at midnight. She admits to "Cheating" a little with that, but it's still an amazing fact I like to tote around.

I still prefer shorter works of fiction myself, though.

3050 words! I would type more, but... I don't think that anything else should be said tonight. I have reached the perfect end of chapter line, and I don't want to start the next chapter until tomorrow. To give you an idea of that end of chapter line:

Sounds cool, but I literally have no time for 3 pages' worth of words every day...
Is what I'd say if I were a pussy. And I am not a pussy.
Or at least... I don't want to be called or known a pussy T_T

it doesn't matter if it's crap. In fact, it's pretty much expected of you. I'm going to write crap, you're going to write crap, we're all going to write crap. Crap is better than nothing because it can always be refined and made into not-crap later. The goal is just to get a rough draft laid out.
Just so people know, the entire point of NaNoWriMo is to train your consistency in writing. Just writing. Not in thinking up stories, not in clever wordplay, not in literary craftmanship. Just writing.

The point is all that stuff can be taken care of later, and the first copy will always suck anyways so there's no point in trying to make it good, just make it.
Huh. This is pretty much the opposite of my attitude towards anything. When writing something, I tend to tinker around mentally for quite some time until I find the precise phrasing I am comfortable with, that precise phrasing often having the form of quite lengthy and convoluted sentence-structures which upon proper reading are still correct and coherent, containing vocabulary that is overly technical, so that a maximized amount of information can be squeezed into a minimized amount of words while still being digest- and understandable, at least for me.
...though not as elaborate and deep-worded as Iryan could, I think.

ACTUALLY YOU KNOW WHAT

HURT ME MORE.
Even if I don't complete what I start in a month, there's nothing wrong with using what I do come up with and finishing it late. I'd still feel pretty damn accomplished. =O
I suck at writing, I can't come up with ideas worth crap.
I suck at consistency, I usually give up on stuff like this inside a week.
You know what?
HELL WITH IT.
It's ON.

My novel barely has a plot, no descriptions, no character development, full of gratuitous violence, gore and vulgarity and I'm enjoying every second of it. This is definitely going to get me to write more consistently/often, though I fear it may also bring back/exacerbate some bad writing habits of mine...

Anyway, 3153 words thus far. Darn, I meant to get more tonight. I wanna do 1200-1700 each day/night to ensure I meet the goal by the end of the month.

In about one hour today, I've churned out 2.7k words for today, bringing my total to 6779 words.

If I feel like it later, I may bring that up to 8k+.

I've been in preparation for a while, but I believe I'm capable of tackling this challenge! Sign me up; by the end of this map, I shall have produced, with reasonable success, a 50,000 word novel that is surely to bore any audience who is unlucky enough to be given the command to read it.

I CAN DO THIS.

Day 1 end results:

Main Novel Word Count: 7439 words
MotK Novel Word count: 4742 words

EDIT: Btw, I cheated - I got a head start over the weekend. :P

Discarded about 1200 words from the MotK account novella as I decided to alter the beginning. Here's an excerpt from the discarded bit which I don't mind showing, considering it's no longer a spoiler...much.

Quote
?There she is!? Rapid footfalls filled the dark town entrance.

?Oro?? It wasn?t an exclamation of surprise?more a note of curiosity. You can?t help but attract (often unwanted) attention when you?re a red-head with a blade a good meter and a half over regulation size (regulation size being no more than 2 inches).

?Wait, I don?t remember them mentioning her having a scar like that?.? One of the men said as the light from the solitary lantern burning nearby fell upon the red-head?s cheek, revealing a curious scar. That was the other problem. It didn?t help that she had a rather hard-to-miss five-pointed sakura-shaped scar on her cheek either.

?She?s a girl with a sword! She fits the bill! How many other sword-totting girls have you seen around here??

??.c-come now, let?s not be unreasonable, I say.? The red-head smiled what would?ve been a disarming smile if only it didn?t seem as if she was fighting with her bladder at the same time. ?I am but a Rurouni passing through this town. I will be no tro-??

?The boss wanted her packing an hour ago. Let?s ice her then let her burn with the rest of her dojo!?

??Ice?? The red-head rurouni cocked her head to one side, thoughtfully. ?Doesn?t sound cool at all, I say.?

?We came all the way out here and we ended up being the ones stuck with search duty while the others have their pick of the village girls?..I say we have our fun before we stick her permanently.? Grins crept across the faces of the men as, as one, they slowly advanced on the red-head.

??.Stop!? The red-head cried out, a sudden alarm taking over her calm.

?No stopping us no-?.? The men were about to advance when one suddenly went down under the crushing weight of a pair of sandals and 80 pounds of angry girl. She had flown out of the darkness and was back in the air, leaping towards a second man, ready to apply a knee-cap to his cranium?.

?.only, her flight was cut-short as the second man ducked and caught her by her legs, swung her, before letting her dangle by her ankle like some angler?s prize catch.

A long, metallic object clattered noisily on the ground. ?Oy, that?s the sword!? One of the men exclaimed as he stepped over his fallen comrade to inspect the fallen blade. He kicked it up into his hand and unsheathed it halfway. ??it?s the Tenshi Sukimagi-Ryu?s sacred blade Tenshi Sukima Zan Ken. It?s her all right.?

?Girls playing with swords?..hah! Who do you think you are? The Sakura Rurouni?!?

?Your dojo?s washed up, like the rest of your god-forsaken village. It will be consumed in the fires of the Moerin clan?s revolution!?

The upside-down girl didn?t seem to be listening, being too busy struggling and flailing about.

?Excuse me, I fear you all have forgotten a few things?.? The red-head Rurouni intoned rather ominously as she ??.you carry katanas and yet you have forgotten the code of the sword, you have forgotten that I am here, and?.one more thing?.?

??.Wait?that scar?.doesn?t it look like?.?

??.a flower?.? Wait, the Sakura Rurouni has?.?

?Oh shi-?.?
