Next batch of cards up. Cards 26-36, boss card practice. You can get a gold medal just by not being hit, but do practice staying under the boss or you miss out on some of these. The cards are getting hard to summarize so I'm just going to leave some translation comments here.
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Moedan_Spell_Card_26Is there a common term for the madness that comes at the end of a card if you're trying to play pacifist? The Japanese call it... madness!
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Moedan_Spell_Card_27"The strongest back fighter in the galaxy" is my attempt at what's in the Japanese promotional materials for Battle Garegga. If you've played the game in English and know what the official translation for Blackheart's nickname is let me know. Also, it's possible to trick the winder. Let it nail you to the side of the screen, die or bomb, then fly to the opposite side of the screen. The next time the winder moves, it'll spin off the top of the screen. Then you can sit under the boss and bobble while the winder fires uselessly off the top of the screen. For this card it's useless, cuz the winder resets itself every few passes, but I dunno, maybe there's a poorly coded spell card out there where that info would be useful. If you're willing to give up the bomb/life.
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Moedan_Spell_Card_28Not much to say. Zun's great idea is retarded for this card, trying to stay on top of the bends is a great way to die, so they're clearly talking about other cards elsewhere.
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Moedan_Spell_Card_29This card's dialog makes me laugh every time. When Gil talks about dodging the rain I just have this image of him grinning like an idiot and wagging his eyebrows at Zun or something. Also, it's nice to know the Japanese feel the same way about some danmaku as we do.
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Moedan_Spell_Card_30I ran my translation of the dress comment by some native Japanese and they feel it's every bit as rude as I've translated it. I'm absolutely stunned they made the joke, it seems so out of character for everyone involved.
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Moedan_Spell_Card_31I had way too much fun translating the nursery rhyme Merupo sings here. Also, it's entirely possible to avoid practicing what they want you to practice all the way until the last 10 seconds of the card or so, so this is definitely a card that is much improved by being translated.
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Moedan_Spell_Card_32I have to say, this card really helped me with Sakuya's non-spell card shot (before Misdirection).
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Moedan_Spell_Card_33I like the dialog on this card. Scene stealing moments for both Gil and Flandre here.
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Moedan_Spell_Card_34My complete failure to translate two of Zun's lines really irks me, but when it's all kana like that and there's zero context I'm just.... argh! Also, this is the card where it's most important to remember that you want to practice staying under the boss, not just not getting hit, silver/gold medals be damned.
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Moedan_Spell_Card_35There needs to be a limit on how many relative clauses you can use and how deep you can nest them. >.< This card was a bit above my paygrade to translate, but I did my best.
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Moedan_Spell_Card_36And we face Flandre herself! Which is why Zun is so solicitous in this card.
In other news, I have beaten EoSD. With continues, but I'm still proud. ( -.-)
