>Focus fire on the damaged one, get it out of the road.

>You concentrate your fire on the more damaged shadow, directing streams towards it, and letting stray fire sweep in the general direction of the second. Mugetsu fires a wide spray of the bullets towards both of them.
>Marisa pulls up next to you, firing more green bolts into it. "Don't suppose you've got a plan? We're not exactly making a lot of headway here. I think we just ought to start shooting her, if you ask me..."
>"No," Mugetsu says simply.
>"Fine..."
>"What does she want with me?" Maribel asks.

>"Would be nice!" Marisa says, firing another spread of stars as she shifts backwards.
>You continue to fire upon the incoming shadows, bringing a satisfyingly heftier amount of firepower to bear on them than when this started. Mugetsu and Marisa keep adding danmaku of their own, creating a veritable rainbow of different colors and styles flooding the air.
>"I'm... not sure that's possible," Mugetsu says. "In a place like this, what she's creating is not necessarily much different than our danmaku. They're both new elements of the dream we're manifesting. They just come easier to you, because their form is familiar and you believe in your ability to create them."

>"I don't know," Mugetsu replies. "I don't really understand what she's doing. Or why."
>A fifth shadow breaks free of Gengetsu. The third is starting to disintegrate, while the fourth still looks to be in good shape.
>"I have to meet her," Gengetsu says. "Why are you fighting?"

Suggest: "Because the last time you met her, everything went to shit."
There was something here once. Wonder what...

>"Please, sister," Mugetsu says, "Please, just stop. You can meet her if you stop."
>Gengetsu tilts her head to the side, continuing inexorably forward. "I don't understand."
>"C- can we get away from this place?" Maribel says. "Please?"

>"I... you are fighting the dream," Gengetsu says. "I don't know why. Nothing will harm you."
>You continue doing your best to distrupt and block the shadows, weaving streams of danmaku through them, and shifting your position to force them to take less direct paths. With the three of you fighting while retreating and Maribel keeping a safe distance, you think you can keep them off her for the moment at least.

>"Why would I attack her?" Getgetsu says. "I don't wish to harm her. Only to meet her."
>"Broken record..." Marisa mutters, blasting a laser into the fourth shadow. You can see a sixth rising from Gengetsu.
>Suddenly you hear a screeching sound behind you; an almost inhuman cry of rage and pain.

>Look back!

>You quickly look behind you and see... another Gengetsu. A very different, and very angry looking Gengetsu. Her form is firm and defined, but dozens of ragged tendrils of void are drawn across her body, branching out from her chest like veins, running down her limbs, and streaking through her wings. A second cluster fans out from her forehead, streaking jagged blackness about her eyes and face, almost like a mask. Her expression remains very readable, and would be frightening to see on anyone, no matter their form. It is pure, driven desperate rage.
>"Let me out!" she cries, and a fan of white danmaku flies out from her. She lunges towards Maribel.
>"Ah, hell..." Marisa mutters.
>Maribel tries to dive behind a tree. "What's going on!?"

>"Mugetsu, get them together!"
>If it seems that Violent Gengetsu is going to get to Maribel first, move to intervene.

>"I don't think I can!" she cries, as a flurry of danmaku flies past the sides of the tree she's hiding behind, many of them impacting against the trunk itself and rattling leaves.
>"How!?" Mugetsu says, staring wide-eyed at the new arrival.
>Maribel seems effectively pinned behind that tree, and Violent Gengetsu is moving quickly. The danmaku is not so dense that you couldn't dodge it yourself, but moving laterally through the cloud will be slow going. Additionally, without room for her to slowly fall back as you have been doing, it seems likely another shadow may reach her before you can dissipate them. Especially if your attention is divided between targets.
>The first Gengetsu continues slowly forward, seemingly oblivious to what is happening.

>"Doin' what I can!" Marisa says.
>Violent Gengetsu is flying directly towards Maribel, which puts her at something of an angle to you. You swing around and try to intercept her from the back as she passes you.
>"What!?" Maribel cries, still hiding behind the tree as danmaku pelts it. "There's no way I can do that!"
>Gengetsu dashes past you and you swoop in behind her. However, as you close in on her, she glances back over her shoulder, her eyes burning through you. She sweeps a hand behind her and a spray of blue energy needles flies towards you.

>The attack moves quickly, and the suddenness of it at close range force you to dash backwards a moment before you can slip into a gap between the spread of needles and keep moving forward. She gains a little on you, although you start to catch up immediately. You think you can still reach her before she reaches Maribel, but it'll be tight.
>Maribel peeks out around the edge of the tree, and yelps a little when she sees how close Gengetsu is. With a quick glance around her, she rushes for another tree, a short distance away. Gengetsu sweeps to the side of the first tree and fires another wave of white danmaku at Maribel. She glances over her shoulder while running, and awkwardly bends out of the way of the first bullets, but then several more catch her in the leg and back. She cries out and falls.

>If she's firing at Maribel, she's not firing on us. Get in there and restrain her.

>You take this opportunity to pull an extra burst of speed from yourself and rush at Gengetsu. She seems to sense your approach, and begins to glance back at you just as you slip your arms underneath hers and bring them around in a full nelson. You give her one of your best unhappy teacher looks, backed by all the frustration and anger of the last few days. You like to think the horns compliment the look nicely.
>Gengetsu rages against your grasp. "You will not keep me here!"
>A circular burst of danmaku flies from her hands. Several connect you very solidly in the shoulder and side, but you wince and bear it.

>You apply pressure to the back of her head, forcing it downwards and bending her arms back. You try to use your leverage to pull her away from Maribel; she struggles violently every inch of the way, but it's clear that you're stronger than her.
>Maribel picks herself up off the ground and glances around her. A shadow is closing in on her from the left, Marisa chasing after it. It's injured, but still fairly cohesive. Maribel moves to scramble out of the way of both it and Gengetsu, while Marisa rains more fire towards the shadow.
>Gengetsu tries to turn her head back to look at you, glaring fire at you from the corner of the eye that can still see you.
>"I will get out!" she cries. Suddenly you develop a splitting headache.

>Apply significantly more pressure, and force her in that direction.

>"I won't let you trap me here!" she cries, still struggling against you and firing more danmaku wildly around her. Although her ability to aim is significantly impaired, several still snag you. Many more collide with trees and dirt around you and Maribel barely gets out of the way of part of it.
>You push even harder on her and try to force her towards the first Gengetsu. Your head throbs and you feel your senses growing hazy; you think your grip is weakening a little.
