Touhou periodic table
« on: September 23, 2010, 09:34:45 PM »
ITT: Post what element(s) a Touhou character would be based on personality, relations with other characters/elements, appearance, or just any other similarities.

Eirin would be iodine, cause she's a doctor and such.
Okuu: plutonium
Rumia: carbon

You got it ALL wrong. Okuu = hydrogen (and maybe helium?).

Yukari is some noble gas.

The recent what touhou would be/do what was strange (in a good way) but this is the strangest of all...

...BTW there are 118 elements on the Periodic table up to this day and there are 112 Touhou characters up till this day, 109 if you consider Reimu, Marisa and Yuka the same characters as the PC-98 versions of them.
So with about one more "full" touhou game and one more fighter touhou, there will be more Touhous then elements in the Periodic table.
(If you're only counting naturally occurring elements, we have far more touhous then natural elements.)

Anyways, back to topic...
Reimu: H or some kind of noblegas
Yukari: Antimatter, Aether
Medicine: Cr+6
Kanako:O
Suwako: Fe

If only it was "compound" I would've said Luciferin for Wriggle and Methanol for Mystia :D

I really think people should justify their choices, otherwise it's just people shouting out random elements.

e.g. Yukari is Iron. The core of everything, all fission and fusion tends to Iron.

Aya is Mercury because the old name for this is "quicksilver". Also, Mercury (also known as Hermes, in Greek mythology) was the messenger of the gods, and flew with great speed.

Actually that was the one I figured made sense, for that very reason.

Cirno is Lead - very dense. :V

Okuu is hydrogen because it's the main fuel for fusion in stars. Helium could also work since it's the product of said fusion.

But you knew this already, right Fightest? :V

Actually, and don't quote me on this, as my memory is very hazy, I recall that stars use the far-more-efficient helium fusion as their primary source of energy. We can't get anywhere near that, so our nuclear fusion prospects stop at hydrogen, for the moment.

All that said, I feel that Okuu is more Nitrogen - volatile and highly explosive in the right compounds.

Also, Komachi is copper - cheap and unreactive :V

I would think that Flandre could be Nitrogen.

I have next to no chemical knowledge, though, so do what you will.

Mokou's quicksilver, because.

Mokou is clearly phosphorous - unstable, flammable (in a sense), highly reactive.

Stars only use helium as their primary fuel near the end of their lifespan - they use two kinds of hydrogen-burning reactions the rest of the time (which one is dominant depends on the mass of the star). What happens is, the star eventually uses up its hydrogen stores, and only begins the helium-burning process once sufficient helium has built up in its core. Other element-burning reactions exist within stars that can create elements up to iron, but they are not nearly as prominent.

I have little knowledge bout the elements and such, so could you explain those for me?

Flandre could be lead, as, IIRC, ingesting lead can make someone mentally ill, and pretty much all fans say Flan-chan is metally ill. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I really think people should justify their choices, otherwise it's just people shouting out random elements.

Reimu: H or some kind of noblegas
H since it became bases of theory for all other elements, > Things revolve around H > Reimu's, role as main character
Noblegas: Unreactive, just like she is to so many other things
Yukari: Antimatter, Aether
Theoretical and imaginary elements
Medicine: Cr+6
POISON
Kanako:O
Suwako: Fe
Suwako used steel rings to fight Kanako, but Kanako's vines rusted them useless, thus Iron for Suwako and Oxygen > Oxidizing for Kanako

if only because you cannot exercise normal theories over its grasp and energy source.

I honestly thought Nitori would be Nitrogen.... just cuz of the name similarity. nothing else.

....maybe because I keep misreading Nitrogen as Nitori at school  :derp:.
